The Zumba 2 for the Wii is a wonderful workout , not only fun, but the music is uplifting and you burn many calories with the dance.

The game for the Wii comes with a velcro belt that you fit snugly over your hip, you place the remote facing outward, into the belt pocket and you are ready to Zumba.

The Zumba "game" consistes of  a main menu that offers you, Single Song, Full Class, Learn the Steps, Progress Tracker  and Options.

To start Zumba, I strongly suggest you click on Learn the steps.. I did this for three days prior to dancing the songs.  Learning the basic steps is pretty crucial to learning the dance steps for each song. If you know HOW to do the steps, then learning the songs is much quicker. Each song is simply a different combo of the dance steps you have already learned.  The steps are repeated several times in each song so it is pretty easy to learn the song.

If you  go thru all four dance choices and learn the basic steps, you may select slow speed, till you get the hang of the steps.. then bump it  up to normal speed.  It is a great way to prepare yourself to jump into the Zumba dance.

You have your own progress tracker that allows you keep track of your technique, duration and calories burned,  A graph chart will show you at a glance how you have done and you can compare it to all the previous weeks.  Be careful not to bump your wii remote or hit a button to quickly or your stats for the dance you just did will not update and you will lost that songs stats.

Single song, which I use all the time, is your choice of 32 songs , that range from low intensity, medium and high intensity.  To start out with, I learned and practiced the dance steps until I had them down, then moved to Single Song and only did the low intensity songs which is a pretty darn good workout.  As time went by, and I have been doing this for six weeks now, I now have added in medium and high intensity dances.  I dance three to four times a week and for a duration of a minimum of one hour up to 90 minutes.

Your instructor will be one of three computerized people, a man and two women.  I might add that these are real people, that have just been computerized.  The graphics are great and when your instructor appears, you simply mirror his or her movements, You are awarded stars for doing correct moves and can reach the Euphoria level if you dance well enough, then the background bursts into fireworks and star bursts.. a nice bit of cheer leading for you!...

A small meter appears on the screen that gives you feedback as you dance... like HOT or ZUMBA etc..dancing correctly and in time with the instructor will trigger Euphoria mode where the background changes and fireworks shoot out.

On the dance screen a smal window will open up and give you  a cue to the next moves that will be coming up.

Zumba 2 for Wii give you a chance to create a profile which you and change at will.  It also allows you to select your own playlist from the 32 songs available.

Zumba 2 also offers a class mode, of short, mid or full length class which gives you a variety of routines.. however I like to just scroll thru the songs and pick the ones I want so I don't use this feature.

A little perk is the 'extras' as you progress thru the game dance, you will unlock some of the perks which are short interesting little videos.. you get star awards for completing certain dance requirements.  These dont amount to much but eventually you unlock a another video to watch.. these are very short but kind of fun to see some of the makings of the video game.   It is called a game because it is on the Wii format.. but this is far from a game.. it is a workout .

A note about myself, I am 62 years old, when I bought this I figured I would wind up giving it to my granddaughter.. but because I started out slow and learned the steps.. and progressed to low intensity songs...after six weeks of dance.. I can now Zumba for 90 minutes of actual dance, and am now doing medium and high intensity also.   The amount of calories you burn is amazing, I figured out it is about 11-12 calories per MINUTE that you burn do Zumba dance.. so you do the math.. want pizza tonight?? then Zumba for a hour and you are good to go!
