Pros: Inexpensive replacement to the Original NES and works just the same.
Cons: Cartridge is slightly more difficult to remove than original.
The Bottom Line:
This is a great console to replace an NES. If you have the original cartridges and want to put them to use this is a must have.

This product works just like the original Nintendo Entertainment System. I was a skeptic, but no longer. I bought if off of Amazon.com (for 18.99 + 5.98 shipping) from Classic Game Source. I figured if it didn't work or if the seller didn't accept the return I'd only be out a few bucks so low risk. Well it arrived quickly and in perfect condition (then bought my in-laws one).
It was easy to set up, just a power supply, the RCA AV jack, and the controllers. The original NES controllers worked fine but I went with the ones included with the system.
So once everything was connected it was off to Super Mario Brothers. I plugged in the cartridge, pressed the power button and I was back to my childhood. I've been using it for two months without fail with about a dozen games and they all worked fine.
For kicks I peeked inside the slot where the cartridge goes. There's a PCB board which has a few ribbon connectors. One goes to the back of the unit for the power and RCA jacks. Another ribbon cable goes to two LED's (power, and reset) And the last ribbon cable goes to the controllers. But all this doesn't really matter because once you start the console you play the games just as you would with the original NES.
Because of it's small size it's easy to take other places. I've taken it to my parents and it was easy to set up especially with the front AV jacks on a TV. It can be set up in about 5 minutes.
