The DE-1655 provides voice alerts. A real human voice is used to describe the band detected so that you dont have to look away from the road. The Whistler DE-1655 responds to all types of radar currently in use by police, and provides 360 degree detection of all types of laser guns. The Whistler DE-1655 is immune to the VG-2 detector, and provides alerts when VG-2 is in use. Basic support is included for SWS alerts as well. A signal strength indicator is also provided. Minimize

Not for Mr. Leadfoot, but a decent warning device

Author's Rating: 3/5 stars

Pros: Display visible in sunlight, decent detection range, loud audio when needed in a high-noise environment

Cons: Limited information on display, falsing from local alarm systems

Bottom Line:
A decent detector at a good price for the average commuter who may stray a few MPH above the limit each day. Not for the hardcore speed demon. Read More

A good start, but too many false alarms and design flaws to be functional.

Author's Rating: 2/5 stars

Pros: Solidly-made, compact size, pleasant voice announcements and bright LED's

Cons: Annoying self-test, excessive false alarms, problems with button functions

Bottom Line:
Too many false alarms leave you guessing over the location, proximity, and type of radar being used. Detection is average, at best--and just in time, if not too late. Read More
