I purchased by Highlander as a certified used vehicle from my local dealership. Being a DMV employee I looked up the vehicle's VIN in CarFax and AutoCheck. I verified that it had not been in any horrific accidents or been declared a salvage vehicle for any reason. I was also able to verify that it has passed emission and safety inspections.
The truck runs like a dream and gets better gas mileage than expected. I have a six mile commute both ways into work. Not much given the area I live in. I find that I only use a half tank of gas during the week, and that includes errands. I'm getting better mileage than what was stated in the specs for the vehicle.
My truck says it can seat six, but I wouldn't allow any adults to sit in the rear seating. Truthfully, it is more designed for very thin tween-agers than normal sized adults. However, with the third row of seating down you do have a nice sized trunk area. It's great for yard sales!!
The ride is very smooth and the pickup for the six-cylinder engine is wonderful. It makes merging much easier on the busy highways I travel. I've gone from 0 to 60 with little effort.
I wish they had an automatic lift gate when this vehicle was released. For me, that's the only thing that's missing.
I am forever forgetting to take off the emergency brake and am thankful that the vehicle will first sound an audible alarm and then second drive "funny". I've only left the brake on three times, but didn't get very far. I love that feature.
The sound system is quite good. There are speakers in every door and mine has a disc and cassette tape player. I am often listening to music during my commute and the system makes it very enjoyable. It may not be a Bose system, but I am very pleased with it. I listen to everything from country to opera and it all sound great.
Overall it is a wonderful vehicle.
