The Nikon D100 is a fantastic starter DSLR, with a low price and stunning image quality. Those familiar with Nikon’s film cameras will feel right at home with its similar body build, and support for over 40 official AF Nikkor lenses. While the Nikon D100’s six-megapixel resolution might not sound like much today, the sheer quality of the images means printing at much larger sizes is entirely possible, and even encouraged. If you have yet to step into the DSLR world, the Nikon D100 makes an excellent entry point.

Pros: Instantaneous response
Cons: Few image stabilizing lenses available
Bottom Line:
This is an excellent camera, but so is the new EOS D60. Read the full review to see why I give the nod to the D100, at least for now. Read More

Pros: Uses SLR lenses, fantastic resolution, familiar controls, no shutter delay!
Cons: Expensive, large, only 6 shot buffer, no IEEE-1394, changes lens focal length to 1.5X
Bottom Line:
Worth the wait? Absolutely. Worth the price? When the Canon EOS D-60 is $2200, the Nikon D1X is $4650 and the Contax N is $8000, $1700 is a bargain. Read More

Pros: Just a great camera to use with all the versatility that you could want.
Cons: A wide angle lens is too expensive and is badly needed.
Bottom Line:
It would be nice if Nikon made the sensor the size of a 35mm film so that the lenses would give you what they are rated to do. Read More

Pros: Battery life; fit, feel with Md-100, cable release screw=in, ISO 3200,6400
Cons: Flash sync slow, low light dots, slower loading than D70
Bottom Line:
At pricing, worth a look Vs the D70. Md-100 attachment a great feature, fit and feel in hand is great, pictures are good to excellent, though D70 outperforms sometimes. Read More
