Boring Title: Lakewood Quartz/Ceramic Specialty Heaters QTV-22

Author's Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: Lightweight, quiet, heats very well, pretty safe to operate.

Cons: slightly expensive. Being a Quartz heater, it requires more caution in use than ceramic heaters.

The Bottom Line:
Nice, even heating with good safety features. Slightly higher priced than most but generally worth it.

Author's Review
The model QTV-22 is a dual 750 or 1500 watts that is fan-forced that provides a nice source of heat for a small to medium size room.

I used this space heater in my home office the last couple months before spring came this year and I really am impressed with it's efficiency. I replaced a smaller ceramic heater with it and find that it really heats much better than the ceramic heater and covers a larger area while using the same wattage as the other. It is heating a small room with the measurements of 12 x 12. Keeps it toasty warm.

I have always been somewhat skeptical of radiant heat sources. We had previously owned one a few years ago and while sleeping my daughter some how knocked her stuffed animal off in front of it. Fortunately, we have outstanding smoke detectors installed and it picked up the fumes from it before it had the chance to ignite. Thank goodness for that. I saw the Lakewood type and thought I'd give a quartz heater another try since we no longer have any small children in the home. I am quite satisfied too.

One thing that you always want to remember about quartz heaters is that they are extremely hot and can be very dangerous. Never set anything in front of or around the unit. If you heed all of the warning and or caution labels, you should be just fine and your quartz unit should last you for a good long time provided you do not use it as your only source of heat. If you do, please do not expect this heater or any brand to last more than a season or two at best.

About the Lakewood Quartz/Ceramic Specialty Heaters QTV-22:

As mentioned, the Lakewood quartz/ceramic heater (QTV-22) has dual 750 or 1500 watts and is fan-forced. There are two quartz tubes inside that is the heat source. It has an adjustable thermostat that cycles on and off with an indicator light. The fan is duel speed and very quiet. The reflector is designed for safe, even heat. There are two switches. One operates the thermostat and they other adjusts the wattage. There is a safety feature that cuts off the unit should it overheat and if it is accidentally knocked over, the unit is designed to shut off completely.

The heater measures 10" x 9" x 25". It's plastic console is flame retardant and it also has a baked on enamel finish on steel. It comes in white/gray. It fits great in a corner (not too close to the wall though) or just out in the open. It weighs 11.5 pounds.

Downside:

This until is not inexpensive. Do not expect to pay $30 or $40 bucks. Be prepared to pay any where between $140 and $170 for it. I paid just shy of $154 for ours. It is totally worth it if, as I mentioned before, you do not run it 24/7 all winter long! That is not to say it can not hold up to constant use but use it less if you want it to last more than a season or two. This heater is warranted for 1 year. After that, it is my sole recommendation that you replace ANY heater after that for safety sake.

You can inquire about replacement parts by calling the customer service at: 1-800-621-4277. I've never used customer service so I can not honestly comment about that.

If you are curious about how cost efficient a heater is, you can take the wattage of the unit and divide it by 1000, then compare with your cost of kilowatt usage through your electric company.

My personal recommendation:

I like the Lakewood Quartz/Ceramic Specialty Heater (QTV-22). I've found it to be a bit more efficient than most and it certainly is a quiet heater. I really like the area coverage it heats and I trust the safety features it has. I do recommend this heater provided you follow any and all cautions and safety instructions.
