Pros: 12 megapixels, 6X zoom, Image Stabilization, full manual controls, and available anywhere AA batteries
Cons: chromatic aberration (purple fringing), no neck strap and high noise levels at ISO 800/1600
Bottom Line: The A650 IS is a bit sluggish in the performance department, but overall it is a worthy successor to the A640

Pros: Tilt view screen.
12 Meg (available)
Uses Compact Flash cards
Cons: Canon Consumer Service Center
Poor design/ergonomics
Heavy
Limited quality inspite of 12megs
Bottom Line: Other, much better picture quality and customer service available elsewhere. Start looking by going to http://www.dpreview.com/ and looking at their "Highly Recommended" cameras.
