Personnel: Common Sense, NO I.D., The Illustrious and Praiseworthy Mohammed Ali, The Late Show's Ynot Never The Less (vocals), Lenny Underwood (keyboards), Mista Sinister (scratches). Producers: NO I.D. (tracks 1-5, 7-11, 13, 15); The Late Show's Ynot Never The Less (tracks 12, 14). Engineers: Troy Hightower (tracks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9-15); Stephen Georgiafandis (tracks 2, 4, 8). All songs written by Common Sense. Contains samples from "Protect Ya Neck" (as performed by Wu-Tang Clan) and "Power Of Love" (as performed by Alton McClain and Destiny). "Resurrection": breathing life into the corpse of mainstream rap (May Music Madness W/O)
Pros: Lyrically perfect. Jazzy, enjoyable production. No filler. A masterpiece. Cons: *does not compute* Bottom Line: Resurrection - "Common" knocks some "Sense" into Hip Hop (WIAB W/O)
Pros: Futuristic Lyricism, Introspectiveness, Great Production, Subject Matter Pure Classic Cons: Cons? Hell No! Nothing "common" about this album at all... Bottom Line: Common Gives H.E.R Something She Won't Ever Forget
Pros: Appropriate and dope No I.D. production, a hungry-as-hell Com, barely ANY skippable tracks. Cons: Interludes, and the fact that it doesn't measure up to Like Water for Chocolate. Bottom Line: Resurrection: Common as Hip Hops Miles Davis?
Pros: The lyrical Common, good beats and production. Cons: Ynot tries to rap, some beats get a little boring. Bottom Line: "Cause I'm on fire, If I was a Michelin I wouldn't tire"
Pros: Everything. Cons: Nothing. Bottom Line: World-Class Talent Disguised as 20-Something Nobody
Pros: Perhaps the best lyrical performance of Common's career. Cons: Nothing worth mentioning. Bottom Line: It seems to get lost in the shuffle of critically acclaimed mid-'90s rap albums, but trust me: Resurrection is nothing short of a classic. Pros: Elixir-like REFRESHING production. Unparralleled, highly original lyricism from Common Sense. Cons: Loose, insincere lyric from NO ID, Perhaps Common is sometimes too relaxed? Bottom Line: top 5 hip-hop album- common at his best
