Gabriel Axels Babettes gaestebud- (Babettes Feast)-1987
Pros: Audran, Federspiel, Kjer, Kulle, cinematography, the story Cons: Subtitles are a pain, but it beats dubbing Bottom Line: A Feast For all of the Senses
Pros: multi-layered, nearly flawless production and direction. Cons: slow development and long setup may bore the impatient viewer Bottom Line: A Chef's Tribute
Pros: Beautifully acted and directed; fine recreation of mid-19th century rural Denmark. Cons: Some viewers might find the emphasis on religion a trifle heavy. Bottom Line: Aesthetic Sensuality Nourishes the Human Spirit
Pros: Strong story, well-developed characters, strong performances, and a treat for your senses and intellect Cons: Viewer will need to have tolerance for subtitles Bottom Line: A feast, for the eyes and palate.

Pros: Witty, rich, poignant Cons: "Slow" film by Hollywood standards Bottom Line: A French Chef is a French chef, even in Denmark
Pros: An exquisite story, fine acting and direction Cons: You have to let it in to work its magic Appreciated by Select Few; Not Mainstream
Pros: Simple plot Cons: Still gets a bit confusing, slow in some spots |
