The Pontiac Solstice is a high point of innovative design. All the planning, engineering and refining culminates in an inspired roadster, delivering what may very well be the perfect open-air driving experience. Fluid lines wrap around the GM global RWD compact performance architecture with unibody construction, and set the stage for crisp response and exhilarating performance delivered by the 177 horsepower 2.4L 4-cylinder ECOTEC DOHC VVT engine. The AISIN 5-speed short throw manual transmission allows for quick gear changes. Four-wheel vented disc brakes slow you down before you accelerate out of the corners while the ergonomic contoured driver's seat holds you firmly in place.

Pontiac? Is It Really You?
Pros: Go-kart thrills to match the Miata, plus grippier handling and a more-mature demeanor. Cons: Too-tall gearing and a grumbly drivetrain detract from straight-line performance. Ergonomic irritations abound. Bottom Line: Solstice: Reliable?
Pros: Wealth of innovations: Kappa chassis, suspension, Ecotec, hydroforming, Haartz top, low, wide, 50-50 Cons: Typical roadster: trunk space limited (but I don't care!) Bottom Line: Finally!! A car to make an old man smile.......ME!!!
Pros: The way it makes you feel when you drive it! Price, Design/Styling, GM made. Cons: Envious Neighbors. Envious, strangers who might think I some rich dude. Cold winter nights? :o) Bottom Line: My "Second" Dream Car!
Pros: The head-turning, attention-getting good looks that draws a crowd wherever I go! Cons: Totally Impractical.. but who Cares?! I'll toss my stuff in a grocery bag when traveling! Excellent!!!
Pros: Tight handling, drop dead style, and a price tag that won't kill the pocketbook. Cons: 177 horsepower is good but the car screams for the Pontiac traditional motor. Right on the money, Pontiac!
Pros: Exceptional handling, looks, drive train that just keeps getting more responsive as it breaks in. Cons: Haven't found any, although gawkers can be a problem! Beyond what I could have imagined....
Pros: Attention getter, Quick, Sporty, Exhilarating, Fun, Fantastic Cons: none This is Pontiac's Renaissance
Pros: Great exterior styling. Nice dual clamshell openings for the trunk AND hood. Beautiful execution overall. Cons: Needs more oooomph. Needs a more refined drivetrain. A 6 speed tranny would be nice. LOVE IT
Pros: Handling and Style are the strong points.Love driving this car. Cons: Seat heaters should have been offered I own what I review
Pros: Price.American made by American workers.Handling Cons: NONE that I have encountered |
