I found "2011 GT Avalanche 2.0 Disc Mountain Bike" on sale at performancebike.com. When arrived to shop I found that such bike present in stock for my size (medium), so I ordered it. Next day when picking up bike from store I found they gave me "2011 GT Avalanche 2.0 Mechanical Disc Mountain Bike" instead, which is cheaper, but same sale price. When I mentioned this discrepancy to salesperson he said that "2011 GT Avalanche 2.0 Disc Mountain Bike" was mislabeled and in fact this is 2012 model and not on sale. I tried to convince them that this problem is not mine and I want to buy advertised bike. But no success. Please be aware of this shop.

Ordered online. Received a call the next day saying that my card was not authorizing. Talked to them and got that sorted. Card was charged on a Wednesday. Then nothing. No email confirmation of shipment, no call, nothing. I called them on Monday the following week. They couldn't find my order. Told me to 'call back tomorrow'. I did that, then while on the phone with someone telling me that the item had not shipped yet, I noticed that they had charged me for the order AGAIN! So charged twice, item not shipped. Can't tell when it will arrive. NEVER again....

I have not dealt with customer service, but I have ordered three bikes and multiple bicycle accessories and all have arrived quickly. If ordering a bike, it would be a good decision to become a performance member to earn extra points towards your next purchase. When you order something expensive, such as a bike, your points add up very fast. The free upgrade to two day shipping as a performance member is also very nice.

I ordered a Men's Silver Mountain bike. I received a Green Women's Street bike. After a couple ignored emails to their customer service dept, I was finally informed to ship the giant box back to them via UPS ground and I would be reimbursed for shipping and the price of the bike. That was a chore in itself since the box would not fit in my vehicle. I finally got it to the UPS store, cost me $147 to send it back. 3 weeks later I checked my bank account to see that only the price of the bike was refunded. They didn't even reimburse me for the original shipping that I paid to have the bike shipped to me. Their customer service email response is generic and uncaring, lame. Terrible service. And a rip-off. I paid for their mistakes.

Poor business practice and complete lack of customer service. Package came missing an item. Customer representative did not believe me at all. After convincing him, he says he will send item by ground shipping. I told him that was unacceptable so he promises 2nd day shipping. Three days later and no item so I call back and they say it "will" be sent by ground shipping. Further inquiries later reveal that the item has been discontinued. At no time was I notified that item had been discontinued. At no time did I receive a refund. The company simply omitted the item from package without explanation, insulted me on the phone and then blatantly lied about sending it via expedited shipping. I still have yet to receive any kind of confirmation email regarding the item or my refund. Buyer please beware!

Slowest delivery I've ever seen. 14 days. When they say "free ground shipping," don't assume they're actually using a ground service. I thought since they were east coast, and I'm east coast, it would be FASTER than the other options which are mostly out west. I was dead wrong. You want fast delivery? Order straight from Taiwan. It will get to your door twice as fast. Never buying from "Performance" again.

My experience with Performance has been a nightmare. It took them THREE times to ship me the correct jersey (the second attempt they sent the wrong size and wrong color). First of all, the idea of customer satisfaction is completely foreign to their customer service representatives. I had a simple question about how to get my return shipping refunded, and after 3 customer service reps told me my only option was to pay for it myself, I finally found someone who sent me a fedex return label. Weeks after sending my package back, I still have not received a refund. When calling customer service, they claim they have no way to contact the returns dept to find out if the package has been received. They apparently have lost my package and are now trying to blame FedEx. They refuse to refund my money, so it looks like I am out $80 due their complete incompetence.

Performance Bicycle is probably one of the best companies out there in my opinion. No, it isn't perfect. But nobody and nothing is. The sales reps are very friendly and will go out of their way to do their best in helping you with an item or order. They're also generally pretty knowledgeable. And if they don't know the answer, they have a tech department that is very knowledgeable. They have a really great selection and most of the prices are really good, especially sales. There's also a membership club which is really beneficial if you buy often. A lot of people get it confused though which makes them think it's not worth it. You get 10% back on all of your purchases once you spend your first 100. So you'd have $10 off of your next order. You also get 2nd shipping for the price of regular, which saves you $3 each time you order. You also get some really good team prices. My orders almost always arrive on time and when they don't, customer service is extremely helpful. I definitely recommend them.

I recently purchase a Tirreno Razza 2.0 bicycle from Performance and found them to have great customer service. I used an online coupon on top of their summer special to get a great deal. Due to a glitch in the web form, I couldn't sign up for their "team performance" at the same time for additional store credit. The following Monday, the customer service people signed me up retroactively, gave me the 10% credit on the bicycle purchase (the most I'll spend in several years on bicycle equipment), and upgraded the delivery to 2nd day free without a word of complaint even though by this time I was paying $550 for their $850 bike.
I can't believe this is the same company some of the other people are complaining about. My advise if you have any trouble with them -- call back and get a different agent. Every customer service department must have a few bad apples, but based on my experience the problem can't be because of company policy.

I was mislead by an offered special in which apparently only one flavor choice was available. That flavor, however, was on a one month backorder and I wasn't notified of this or the flavor switch. One customer service person offered a selection of in stock flavors from which I chose again as I was anxious to receive my 10 day old order, but that offer was later reversed by another customer service person and I was politely told that I could expect to wait for a month or longer for the special flavor. I understand that they were probably passing on an excellent bargain from the manufacturer, but if you screw up you should try to fix it. For what amounts to maybe $3 or $4 of their profit I've wasted hours shopping and communicating with PerformanceBike.com. If they're not willing to compromise over a few dollars on a small order which they, in essence, screwed up, how could I trust the company to handle a several thousand dollar bicycle order that I have in the works?

I've been dealing with Performance for a very long time and have been very satisfied with their products and customer service. I've emailed and called them with some very specific questions and found them very knowledgeable. I'm also a team performance member ($20/yr) and I always make up the money spent with savings (in the form of points to be applied to future purchases) and shipping discounts for members ($10.75 for 2nd day).

It was on backorder the whole time, and customer service would not give me any sort of estimate as to when it would be in stock. Not even a ballpark figure. The kicker is that they charged my credit card $35.50 (the ground shipping cost) the day after I placed the order. They never even had the bike in stock. This place is horrible.
