Really happy with amazon! I have technically been a customer since 2000, but hadn't ordered anything for several years. A friend at work was always talking about things he had ordered, so I decided to try it out again. I signed up with the trial Amazon Prime membership and decided to pay the $79 yearly fee because I was so impressed with the shipping. An experience this Christmas made me a customer for life. I had ordered and received a book as a gift for my nephew for Christmas; finding out that he had already read it I went online to try to return it. Not only did they issue a refund immediately, they told me to keep the book! Great selection and quick shipping make this site a go-to for more than just books.

Where I live, (Great Falls, Montana) you can't just go out and purchase something from a store. What I mean is that with Montana's low population and low income, stores just don't stock much inventory at all. What is available is priced very high and half the time the store has to order it in. A long time ago I gave up trying to purchase items locally as it's way too much of a pain. Have been a longtime user of Amazon.com, they have exactly what I am looking for everytime, and at a price that no store can touch. In the hundred or so transactions that I have had with them, every one of them has gone perfectly. (and that's an understatement) It's so great just sitting here at my computer shopping, buying everything that I need, for a price that's unbeatable. Everytime I try to shop ebay, I get screwed!!! Amazon has a lifelong customer in me.

I purchased two Blue Ray movies, The Avengers and The Lorax a couple weeks before Christmas and never received them. There was no contact information for Amazon.com LLC and they did not accept my review so I had no recourse or opportunity to recover my more than $50.00 loss. Amazon.com needs to adapt a buyer protection program like Ebay. I will buy from Ebay from now on because my purchases are protected.

amazon allows there vendors to advertise a lower price as low as $9.00 then when you click on "go to store" they charge you a higher price. When you call them they said nothing they can do, but yet they recommend vendor

Amazon is great...until you have a problem.  Customer service is atrocious, and it's even worse if you're dealing with a merchant who sells through Amazon (rather than Amazon itself). Returns can be challenging, and expect them to edit reviews that they don't like. They have everything, but buy at your own risk.  If something goes wrong with the product or shipping, you're in for a big headache.

I bought the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 32gb on December 10 when they had the $50 dollars off. For some reason it gave me the 16 gb instead. I realized the mistake on December 12 So I call Amazon to try and striaghten it out.  The 16 GB is on backorder and wont ship till the 17th of December! You think it should be a snap to correct the order "not"!!   The customer service rep said they cant change it without losing my promotion discount. Hello I ordered on the day they had the promotion! They say if they change it to a 32 gb I  lose the $50 dollar discount promotion. Nice way to screw your loyal customer! Will be shopping elsewhere where customer service dont screw you every time there is a mistake in your order! Update 12/14/12 After many attempts I finally got through to some one that has fixed the problem. They still have alot to inprove on customer service!

Worst customer support and service ever - rather use e-bay. Nearly impossible to return items or contact amazon once sale has gone through and they've got their commission. Ordered an expensive product with verbal agreement from seller that I could return the item if I was not happy with it. Well spent whole day trying to return item or contact seller or Amazon and still no joy. Also when I changed address amazon would not allow me to update my address and bank details and just blocked me from buying anything. took nearly a week of frustration to finally get them to allow me to update all my personal info. Have never had this type of frustration and problems with e-bay.

Overall, I've been pleased with Amazon.com -- their selection and pricing, but much of the time the packing quality is substandard.  Most products are packed properly, but they don't seem to "get it" when it comes to packing books, in particular books with a soft cover.  I have received numerous soft-cover books that arrive with crumpled corners or some other type of damage because they were pooly packed.  And every time this has happened, I have complained to Amazon, but there has never been so much as an apology from them.  I have never received any type of response from them.   A few days ago, I received yet another damaged book, but this time it was a hardcover book; the corners had been smashed during shipping.  This just might be my last book purchase from Amazon.  I would rather pay extra and purchase books from a company that takes the time to properly pack them than pay less and receive damaged books from Amazon.

I wanted to find out how easy it would be to use Amazon.com to purchase items. I saw a product for $20 less than what a local retailer sells it at, but wondered if Amazon charges state tax. I also want to find out about how much shipping charges are. In order to find out if I will be saving more than $20 (if tax is not collected) minus shipping cost, I had to sign up for an account first. The information requested is everything about me (name/addy/financials) BEFORE I could try to find out a cost to do business with them. Their privacy policy has much to be desired.  All this processing information just to find out if they charge tax and shipping cost. Other services they provide or recommend follow the same line of thinking. Amazon, in a sense, is saying "Tell me about you and your money, then we'll tell you if you're good enough to do business with us."

Caveat Emptor: let the buyer beware....

Amazon doesn't yet have the ability to transfer an equipment upgrade from another line you already have with Verizon. They require the new phone to be active for 6 MONTHS on the designated line to get their commission, or they will charge you $250 or more!!! they say they're 'working on it,' but don't have their act together yet.

in contrast, Wirefly took care of the upgrade transfer in the course of a single chat session (albeit a longish one) while processing the order. And of course it's no problem at a Verizon location (ought not to be for the $300! they want to sell you the exact same unit!)

by the way, the Wirefly price even accommodates Verizon's new $30 "upgrade fee".

moral of the story: work for Wirefly. Own stock in Verizon!

The web site is slow, archaic and unfriendly. If I did not own the kindle, the Flintone era steps to get an order completed and if at al...the latter thr norm, would not be worth it. I buy so many items off the intenet and feel Amazon is the worst of any of any sites I have ever use.

I have been a customer with Amazon for years.  Their service has gone way down since it's inception.  I placed an order, with free shipping.  This takes more than 5 days to fill.  I realized I made a mistake just hours after placing said order and tried to cancel.  They would not do it.  I wrote customer service and received no response.  The order was shipped just two days after I placed it.  That has NEVER happened with free shipping.  It has not arrived yet, but I am assuming that I will have to either reject delivery (if I happen to be home when it comes) or send it back.  This is a heavy item and I trust I won't have to pay any return shipping.  Lugging it to the UPS store is going to be a nightmare with my back and torn rotater cuff.  They sure do like selling, but make it impossible to cancel.  Ridiculous.  I will not be ordering anything from them, ever again.  Overstock, here I come.

I have been a faithful Amazon.com customer for many years now. I have always been satisfied with my experiences. Usually the shipping is much much faster than they state. Usually the products are in better condition than they state. I have made 5 orders in the last 45 days. 3 of those 5 orders had issues that required refunds. On two orders I was shipped the wrong item entirely. The other one the item was defective. One wrong item refund came very quickly. I'm waiting on the other two refunds still. One of the refunds has been in limbo for two weeks as of today. If there were any alternative for the convenience of Amazon I would never ever again shop with Amazon.

I purchased an internet radio last wednesday (today's monday)... I paid 120 and as usual I was expecting to receive my package 3-5 days later... today's monday and my package appear as "not shipped yet". 

I called them and asked "why it was taking to so long to go out?", and they told me "it's because packages with free shipping must wait 4-5 business days to go out"... I thought I was paying for the "shipping services", <b>not for</b> "amazon services".

When I go to any store online or a physical store near by, I don't buy something and they told me... "thanks for purchasing your new tv, our guys will take 5 days to pull up your box from our warehouse, because you didn't want to pay them a tip"... right?? they go and take the box right away...

I never had this kind of problem before, but I THINK is time to find other providers... amazon is going down with this type of policy...

Be aware they have 30% !!! restocking fee. The same items you can buy from other sellers without restocking fee. Besides, if you buy through Amazon from third party no Amazon no the other party will help you when  problems occurred. They blame each other and no one want to help. If you have a choice buy directly from third party website or from Amazon when  they sell a product directly
