BUYER BEWARE of Vermont Country Store! My husband and I received our merchandise today and I will never do business with them again. The king sized "Ribcord Bedspread" is nothing more than a flimsy sheet of cotton...how they can even call this a ...

I bought a small ironing board and cover from Vermont Country Store. The salesperson assured me that the company supports all products and I would always be able to get a replacement cover from them. Not so. I spoke to Helen, a very prickly salesperson, who told me I couldn't get a repacement; I then called customer service who apologized profusely but told me that they cannot replace my cover because they don't carry the product anymore.

Customers pay top price at Vermont Country Store and the Orton family claims to be supremely customer oriented. Like many other businesses, this store's culture has changed.

I would say that they no longer support their products or their customers. I've gotten quicker, better service at Walmart where products are appropriately priced! In fact, I found a tag on my ironing board and called the distributor. Guess who carries the product now?? Walmart!

I ordered 4 items.  Three of them were poor quality.  Their site said my credit card would be charged $9 if I returned the shoddy items.  I asked about exchanging items, and they said I wouldn’t be charged the $9 if I did an exchange.  So I decided to order a couple more of the item that was good enough quality and another brand-name item that I knew to be good stuff.  They charged me the $9 anyway.   Shipping was slow but not outrageously so.  The person I talked to on the phone was rude.  After talking to them about the initial order, I googled the store and found lots and lots of bad reviews on the internet.  I posted one about my dealings with them up to that point.  When I went to update my review today, I found that most of the bad reviews have disappeared.

Over the years, I have purchased many items from this store and have found the quality to be quite good. In fact, they advertise that if there is a particular item that you've searched for and cannot find, they will try to find it for you. I wrote to them and inquired about a certain item that I could no longer find in stores, and sure enough, they found it for me and now feature it in their catalog. Now, it may not be the cheapest price possible, but after they've done all that legwork, who can quibble about a dollar or two?

Over the years, I have only experienced one slight mix-up with an order, and customer service couldn't have been nicer. They solved the problem quickly and I was extremely satisfied with the outcome.

The catalog is fun to look at, especially for those of us who enjoy a bit of nostalgia.

If you're over forty and there are things you remember with fondness but can't find, this is the place to find them. I've gone here to find Ralston cereal and Raisin Bars.

There are also a variety of candies that young folks never heard of. If it was one of those things you remember with fondness from the drug store, then they've probably got it.

Beyond that the Vermont Country Store is like an old fashioned country store. Everything is here from the Kitchen Sink to long johns to whatever you can imagine.

They are quick to send your purchase. Shipping is a little high at times, but that's the era we live in. And the ability to find some things you've never found elsewhere. . .

Try things like Glitterati candies, if you've never tasted that Italian hard candy. And there's that strange little candy bar from your youth that has four different flavors.

Shop here if you remember life in the world Garrison Keeler describes.

I ordered two weeks before Xmas. VT is about a six hour DRIVE from where I live. A week later, I checked the Net and it said my order was "in process". I called and they said it was being upgraded (false) and would arrive before Xmas (also false, as it turned out). On the 23rd (Saturday before Xmas), no package at the PO. Everyone was apologetic, nobody would do anything. Turned out it was sent Parcel Post (cheapest) not Priority Mail like they said and not Express mail, which would have been required for overnight delivery. At least I found the PJs I ordered for cheaper, closer to my home. THEY arrived before my original order from these people. Will never buy from them again, and I tell all my friends to avoid them. There is no excuse for lying.

The Vermont Country Store is the worst online outlet I have ever delt with. My gift ordered on December 12th has not arrived as of December 28th. I was told it shipped on the 18th, but after questioning it's were abouts, they admitted the shipping date was actualy the 22nd. Now that's customer service. Maybe I will have a gift for Christmas 2007, but im not holding my breath.

Would never buy from Vermont Country Store again. I ordered from 6 different on-line stores and received everything EXCEPT for The Vermont Country Store order within 2 weeks. Also, one of the items I ordered was back-ordered and they did not even notify me.

Watch out for HUGE shipping costs and slow processing

My experience was pretty poor - very high shipping costs, slow to dispatch and no tracking info or confirmation of shipment.

1 week after ordering I emailed to find out what was happening with my order. They responded with the standard cut and paste boilerplate statement about costs to process the shipment and to say
- it had taken 5 days to get it in the mail
- even with the very high shipping costs, delivery would be in 9-11 days
- no tracking

Very disappointing experience

I was able to purchase two items through Vermont Country Store with relatively little difficulty. The first item was a gift for my husband several months ago, and it was as wonderful as it appeared on the website. The second item is a pendant watch. I was able to use online support easily to find out more information about the watch. I have not seen it, however. It has been two weeks since I ordered it, and every time I call, they tell me to wait for another day or two, and if it still hasn't come, to call again. The shipping was overly expensive for the size of the pendant watch, and they sent it U.S. Mail with no way to track it or guarantee it arrives in a timely fashion or, in fact, ever. I am very disappointed with the quality of their customer service, as well. Although everyone I have dealt with has been extremely nice and polite, no one has been able to make any decisions or help me in any way.

I have only shopped here via catalog & phone call. These people are great and I have been using this company since 1986. I am very happy with the quality of the products, the shipping, and the customer service. I will continue to buy from this company in the future.
