Clothes for the Spring.  Got them FAST (and free shipping). Great merchandise, but had to return one itme that just didn't hit me right.  Was able to just put it in the mailbox (free shipping back too), and got a credit within 3 days!
that's customer service.

Lands End has always been a great customer service company.  I have bought their shirts and touted them to many for more than 2 decades--now, however, they have apparently been overrun by the Sears mentality--forget quality.  After owning probably 200 traditional cotton oxford shirts, they discontinued the item--their most classic and from my viewpoint highest value item.  I would buy 10-20 t a time and they withstood multiple dry cleanings--well more than the average shirt.  Now, all they carry is "no iron."  Ever try to look professional ina "no iron."  You don't.  You look like an idiot who's too cheap or stupid to iron/dry clean his shirts.  In short, Land's End has abandoned the professional market.  Professionals who require a strched crisp look can no longer shop here, as they discontinued their best product.  What a  shame.

I have been a loyal customer of Lands' End for thirty years, but all good things come to an end. It seems that the quality of the clothing declines with each purchase, and has over the last several years. Lately my frustration is out of stock items. I received a catalog just today, got online, and the items I want are out of stock. To be fair, the catalog was the "For Our Best Men's Customers, Special Sale Edition." I guess the sale was so good that those that got their catalogs before I did, bought out the store. Well, I was on the edge and it put me over. I will be looking for another favorite clothing merchant.

After years of shopping from your cataloque and being a satisfied customer I was very disappointed with your last cataloque "Family and Friends Event".

The ordering information was very incomplete.  Shoes did not include the heel height and there was no guide for ordering garments and bathing suits.  I ordered one of the latter and found it to be too small (not only that, but there was no view of the back so the fat crossed straps were a surprise).  Consequently I had to return the suit and drive nearly 30 miles to the nearest Sears store in order to do so without paying postage and in order to get a quick refund on my credit card!

I hope this experience is  not an indication of how you will be operating in the future.  If so, you have lost a formally satisfied customer!

I've been a Lands' End customer for twenty years, and their name used to be synonymous with well-made goods. In the past three or four years, however, virtually every item I've ordered from them has been of extremely poor quality. Men's cotton sweater that pilled severely in six weeks. Women's cardigan that was so thin it was practically see-through. Children's lunchbox that tore in a month. Matching backpack that didn't last out the year. Christmas stocking holders that tipped over when they had to hold even half of the advertised maximum weight.

Until recently, the liberal return policy was the only thing that kept me shopping with them. Now, on my most recent return, they sent me a gift card instead of the credit card refund I had clearly requested. I've had it and am going to remove myself from the mailing list.

What happened to Lands' End? Well, Sears bought them a few years ago to gussy up their image, and ever since then quality has slipped. It's not entirely fair to blame Sears, since LE had been declining a little since their 80s and 90s heyday when they made solid, sturdy, if a little stodgy clothing. But something happened when Sears bought them... The fabrics became thinner, construction less solid, with an overall cheaper feel. Luckily, customer service is still top-notch, and LE has a sterling return policy. If you're near a Sears, you're doubly in luck: you can return merchandise there and save the shipping fees.

I used to buy a lot of clothing from Lands End in the 90s. When they started having their items manufactured offshore, I stopped buying from them in protest. Recently I purchased a few items from them. As I feared, the quality of materials and the workmanship have gone way downhill.

The older, made in USA garments, even after being worn and washed hundreds of times, are better than the brand new, out of the package "equivalent" items. It is a really unfortunate change.

I lament the loss of Lands End quality items of the past. If they would bring back the quality and workmanship of the 90s, I would be willing to pay considerably more.

I used to love Lands' End clothing, especially their turtlenecks and mock neck sweaters.    They were made of much thicker, sturdier 100% cotton than any other retailer's turtles out there. They were a bit pricier but completely worth it because the quality material would last for years without any signs of wear and the heavy cotton actually kept me warm.

Last week I purchased a cheap T-Neck from WalMart because I needed it to go with an outfit.  I then ordered five turtlenecks from Lands' End online and couldn't wait for the "good" ones to arrive.  I was completely shocked!  There was no discernable difference between the WalMart and Lands' End brands except for the price, which was better than double WalMart's.

Buyer BEWARE!  landsend will call you if you return too many items onthe pretext of inquiring if you need any assistance with sizing, etc?  i received a second call from them on my cell phone (the last time it was at home after 7pm!!) regarding my 70% rate of return for the last 15 months!  Hello!!! Landends is a mail order company - don't they expect lots of returns for incorrect sizing?!!  For example, i returned 3 traditional fit shirts and they made me feel bad about it!  If they had looked carefully, they would have noticed that i ordered 7 tailored fit shirts as a replacement....and yes, sizing and quality has definitely gone downhill...children's sizes are inconsistent, shoe sizing as well, zippers get stuck...customer service needs to reward us for our patronage - not make us feel bad in a "big brother is watching" manner...for your information, i had a baby last year and if I return items that don't fit, that's none of your business...no questions asked is a fraud....

Both Sears and Lands End are now SPAMMERS. I don't mean they are sending unwanted e-mail to just THEIR customers. NO, they are now sending MASS e-mailings using purchased list (which happened to included several of my "spamtrap" mailboxes). Anyone can be on these list. This now puts Sears/Lands End on par with mail-scammers, website spoofers/identity thieves, porn dealers, fake drug sellers, etc.

This is all very sad as both my wife and I WERE long time customers. NEVER AGAIN ... how a once mighty name in retail has fallen so low is incredible ...

Lands End was one of my favorite stores for years. I was a catalog customer before the internet existed. However, since being purchased by Sears, Lands End has been going down hill. The Hyde Park Oxfords that I loved in the 1980s & 1990s are now thin, low-quality shirts that I would expect to find at Wal-Mart. I recently purchased deep charcoal dress slacks from their "suit separates" section. When I went back only a few weeks later to buy the coat to complete the suit, the deep charcoal no longer existed. No warning or anything. Now I have one-half of the suit. The cotton sweaters I purchased for years are now of horrible quality. The elastic in the waist band is useless after two washings. I had shopped there for years & really counted on Lands End for clothes. I am now trying LL Bean & other places to try to replace Lands End.
