Last week, I used a birthday reward at Eddie Bauer for a jacket. I don't normally shop there, but liked the jacket. A few days later, I got an email that my jacket was on its way AND that 2 more items were on their way. I had never looked at anything else to purchase and somehow a skirt and shirt IN MY SIZE were on their way. Huh???

I immediately contacted Eddie Bauer that I'd never even been in the shirt or skirt departments and tried to stop the transaction. Already too late. Now I have to deal with returning crap I never in my life even saw. Who got my credit authorization to do this?

Has this happened to anyone? Is this a new desperate marketing scheme -- they buy the products for you, in hopes you may keep them??? Leaving the onus and pain to you to return them.

It's very, very worrisome.

If you are in Canada do not order from Eddie Bauer unless you are desperate and cannot find clothing anywhere else. While their clothes are good, their service is terrible.
They use UPS for shipping- the worst possible courier for shipping to Canada- exorbitant charges and bad service. Returns are an enormous hassle. Unlike their competitors like Talbots, L.L. Bean or Land's End, they do not give you a Canadian address to return your goods. They make you ship them back to the U.S. at your expense, then complete all the customs forms yourself and apply to CRA for a refund of duties as your own importer/exporter. This is analogous to a doctor making you take out your own appendix or a dentist requiring you to do your own root canal. If they cared a wit about their Canadian customers, they would meet minimal standards of customer service. I do not recommend that anyone order from them until they offer competitive, efficient service

I purchased a corduroy jacket, received it in about 7 days and it was too large. I returned it for an exchange to a smaller size, and about 7 days later got an email saying that they'd received my return and were processing it.

After 10 days, I emailed them again asking where my order was... they replied saying that because of 'changing fashion trends' they had run out of my size and could not reorder it. This is very disappointing, particularly since they apparently weren't going to contact me about it and let me know.

After a good experience with some similar EB products, I ordered some luggage from Eddie Bauer.

Since I was in a hurry, I paid extra for "Three Day Delivery".
It's been almost a week and they can't/won't tell me when it will be delivered. I spoke with a CR named Trisha that seemed as if she couldn't care any less.

The order is taking forever. I was hoping my order would be here in time for a social gathering I have to go to, but it is still yet to arrive. Now I must go out to the stores to find something to wear. So completely annoyed. They don't allow you to track your shipment. I will never shop Eddie Bauer on-line store again.

I agree with others that I love the clothes... but don't order from the catalog or on line... you pay more then any other retailer, it takes longer then anyone else... more then 2 weeks... they lie!! My order was lost, so they sent me another order, which I had to put up a fit to get shipped for free... when the other order came, they charged me full price with shipping and had me ship the second order back... when I complained... they could have cared less. I shipped it all back and now trying to get my credit card credited back has been a nightmare... they are about as helpful as a slug. I have shopped with them for over 10 years... no longer!! Total thumbs down!

I ordered on line from Eddie Bauer Outlet and the NEXT DAY the same items I ordered the previous day went on sale for 30% less. I called customer service to process what I believed to be a simple price adjustment, but was told "we cant do that". I explained that if I had made the same purchase from a reatil outlet there would be no problem returning the items and then making another purchase. They didn't seem to get my point. Sooooo, I e-mailed my concerns to the "customer service" department. I was sent a "scripted" reply about the "deep concern" they had for my less than stellar shopping experience in which my name was spelled incorrectly. Lotsa warm fuzzies on that one!!! Anyway, guess I'll just live with being a day late and a few dollars short...I still believe that they make a decent product worth buying, if you are able to get it on sale or at a retail or outlet store. However, the shipping and handling charges are some of the highest in the business and the customer service is a joke. GOOD LUCK!!!

I returned some items to Eddie Bauer by mail. They kept my clothes and refused the process the exchange. I followed their return policy exactly as stated, but they still refuse to operate honestly. I recommend staying away from Eddie Bauer.

They should either send me my returned items or process the exchange. They cannot keep both!

Being a Big & Tall man, I often find it difficult to find clothing in my size, and when I do, there is usually and extra charge for the large sizes. That was until I found Eddie Bauer on-line. I have ordered more than 6 times, and have never had an issue. Eddie's polo shirts have quickly become my favorite work shirt. They fit well, and are comfortable. Everything that I have ordered seems to be very well made, extremely fairly priced.

I have been shopping at Eddie Bauer for over 20 years and the customer service lately has been very poor. I placed an order on August 23 and on August 26, the order disappeared without a trace. When I wrote to them in September asking where the package was, they said it was "most likely" (they weren't sure) lost in transit and that they were sorry, but not really all that sorry and they would credit my account. It has now been several weeks since I placed the order and I had to email them again to finally get a credit for my order. They promised to credit me for the full amount, but when I checked with my bank, they had issued only a partial credit. I doubt that I will trust them with another order - other companies do a much better job with their service. Perhaps Eddie Bauer does not really care about their customers. I will take my business elsewhere.

I have given Eddie Bauer consistent business for over 10 years. So when it came time for Bauer to follow through on the goodwill they've seemingly tried to build up over the years, Eddie Bauer didn't come through.

Via the website, I asked for snaps -- 4 snap fasteners that I could "install" in an alteration on a suede jacket I'd recently bought from Eddie Bauer. (An extra button or two
can be found sewn-in on some of Bauer's other apparel. The item I had didn't have any extras.) Didn't seem like a complicated request to fulfill.

But they couldn't find 4 snaps lying around to send me, offering excuses about the manufacturer, etc etc.

I think a retailer that actually believed in "customer service" would've made the extra effort, avoided the explanations, sent me the snaps, and maintained the relationship they'd worked so hard to achieve with all their image advertising, guarantee and promises.

The speed of delivery is good. However, think that the shipping and handling charges are in excess. Now that the stores are diminishing, it is the only way to order.

It all began with a bed I ordered. The shipper was late. I missed a half day of work only to have it left on my doorstep because I couldn't wait any longer. Then it was damaged. Then after agreeing to credit my account, ship out another bed, and swap the bed out and charge me when the new one was received, they took a week to send through a credit authorization, put a hold on my card for the second bed at the same time. Then when the bed arrived, the return authorization hadn't made it to the shipper and they left me with two beds in my room. It took over a half dozen calls to get the shipper to call me to pick it up, Eddie Bauer refused to credit me for any of the charges such as shipping to make up for my lost time and headache and the customer service representative even suggested that I would damage the bed myself. This is not the Eddie Bauer you grew up on. They won't receive another penny I've worked for.
