Worst Customer Service Ever!!!
Don't say " Contact us anytime 1-347-728-1354" , if you are not willing to help customer buying your product!! 
I just called 1-347-728-1354, had terrible experience. He kept asking my credit card number, but when I was trying to ask the product I'm interested, he got annoyed and and hang up the phone.

I never had a problem purchasing the problem. It came on time, and was what I ordered. I was looking for a very good dictionary that competed with the Japanese ones. I have a Japanese Casio XD-D7200 and it is amazing however it's on in japanese-english-spanish and without speaking Japanese fluently I can't get more languages. So I bought this Ectaco 2 years ago. It never worked from the moment I opened. I spent a summer saving up for the 400$ giant and it never worked. I was living abroad in Mali at the time and was unable to get it fixed until recently where they told me that the warranty was over and they wouldn't even accept it for a repair that I would need to pay 400$ more to upgrade it to a newer version. Worst purchase experience I've ever had.

BEWARE!!!! Very Bad Company!
Purchased my new Partner on Friday May 25, 2012 and they told me that they would only charge me $250.00 for the new partner but on monday found out that they charged me full price $460.00 when I called they would not speek of pick up the phone. I had to call my back to get the money back I newer autorized them to charge me $460.00 plus nothing was mantioned about shiping charge. On top of evry sing else they make horible products for 15 years I been buying from them and it always something wrong wioth the new partners most of all the battery does not last and sometimes the partner freezes. DOES PEOPLE ARE CROCKS LOW LIVES DONT BUY FROM THEM!!!!

My experience with Ectaco was not bad, although I got my product one or two days later. Anyway, the translator I received was very helpful for me when I was abroad, of course I did not use every function, but it helped me to communicate with people and underastand them. 
also I gave it to my friends and after that they  bought the same unit after the trip! :)  

All in all, no one is perfect..I wish Ectaco to develop with the products they produce further!

My personal experience with this company has been very positive so far. I recently ordered the multilingual 13MT900 translator from them and I am very satisfied with the way it works. Accurate translation and huge vocabulary is just what I needed. Many thanks to the sales team, they made my choice a lot easier by answering my numerous questions. And the delivery was so fast, I even had some time to play with the device before my trip. I had several questions about the translator, just wanted to learn how to adjust some functions so I called Ectaco tech support and the guy on the other end was very helpful guiding me all the way through the process of changing settings, great support! I will definitely recommend Ectaco to all my friends who might need this type of translation devices. I saw some negative reviews on the internet so I was hesitant to order from them in the first place, but now I feel like I made the right choice. It seems like these guys are really trying to improve their services and the product is just great!

ECTACO should be called as Satanic Empire of evildoers that speak only one language "evil. The company makes lousy products with insufficient, unprofessional and incomplete translation vocabularies in many languages.  Their hardware is a clumsy made and easy breakable and should not survive any tear and ware during a month. The customer service is deceiving in any possible way and would lie, lie and lie about the product in order to reach a selling point.  The company is unprecedented example of the   major violations of customer’s rights, racism, hatred, fraud and verbal abuse.

software is archaic and not intuitive at all - very poor programing. Word tags for voice recognition are not alphabetic, each screen of each type program has different ways of accessing the same information, must over-use instruction manual but then must call tech support since manuel has such poor grammar and syntax and even completely missing information: tech support reply is ; "that is why we have 24hr telephone support"
This translation product is absolutely NOT worth the money - and it is grossly overpriced to begin with.

Ectaco  is the worst company ever ... full of lies and wrong promises.
They sent me a broken dictionary I asked for refund but they did NOT refund and after UPS picked up the part they never returned or did refund my money.

NEVER EVER BUY ANY ITEM FROM THIS COMPANY.

So this is my first review and i have to say that the guys at ectaco know what they're doing. I had an issue ordering on the site, called the number on the main page and they were soooooooo helpful. After i received the item i called tech support and wrote an e-mail on how to use a certain function and the man on the phone walked me through everything and the next day received an e-mail back with even more info.
I'm grateful that they've been so helpful and there really should be more positive reviews as these guys definitely deserve more credit.

Yeah, that's great electronic dictionary and fast shipping.If you need an electronic dictionary to translate, Ectaco is your choice. I purchased this product because I'm learning English and I'm glad. This device really works.

Probably I was lucky with this company because they processed my order very fast, it arrived in a couple of days after I placed the order..There was a couple of gifts as well that is surprised me, as I didn't expect them to say the truth :)

Friends! I have got Ectaco product and use it every day. Want to share my gladness with you! It is a perfect thing, I must say! First of all the service of the company is perfect: the representatives did their best to help me to choose exactly the thing I need, to place the order and after that the order was delivered just in time ensured at the site. I like the quality of the device and the opportunities it gave me. I do recommend it to my friends and all the people that need a perfect thing

I bought an Ectaco translator for £380 from the uk web-site, but it doesn't have the functions that the web-site says it does.  The uk team refuse point-blank to discuss this, and insist I call the US office.  The US support staff admitted on the phone that the product doesn't have certain functions, and they begged my to wait 6 months in case a software upgrade comes out!  I asked for a refund instead.  Now the US office refuses to discuss the matter, refuses a refund for the mis-sold product and offers any free software I'd like as compensation instead.  Basically, it's robbery and I intend to pursue the matter.  Crooks.

I purchased the English-Russian ER900 and the ER400.
I gave the ER400 to my girlfriend as she already speaks Russian but we both use the ER900 (she uses it to learn English and I use it to learn Russian). I have never seen anything like this and if you NEED to learn a language like me this will open the floodgates to language learning. I can help but to say positive things about it. It’s easy to use, portable, and has features that are similar to Star Trek with speech recognition and translation functions.
The ER400 is also a great unit for quick references. But the ER900 is mindblowing.
By the way, I live in Germany and this got to me in 3 days. If I ordered something from Berlin it wouldn’t be here in 3 days so I am ultra impressed by the service.
I also forgot to add that the language learning programs are interactive, so the device speaks and listens to you through courses AND tells you if you’re pronunciation is right or wrong – one word: awesome.

MODEL P900 English French

The sales material is very convincing, but gives a much higher expectancy of the product than is the truth.

It is overpriced, limited in its language ability, incorrect translations and pronunciations, useless for a serious student when it comes to all important aresa like grammar, verbs and idioms which are in English only, It is also slow and clicky

Beware the UK site is a spoof and gives the impression that you are UK based AND can take returns to UK. This is not the fact return cannot be made any other way than telephoning New York Office, here you will get an incessant recorded message about the benefits of buying their translators at INTERNATIONAL rate

I bought the original jetbook mini, had it exchanged for a jetbook, and then when I tried to return the jetbook, the return policy doesn't cover it. The return policy ONLY COVERS PURCHASES WITHIN 7 DAYS OF THE ORGINAL RECEIVE DATE. So for example, if you buy a jetbook mini, mail it back because it is defective, receive a working one, and then decide it has poor functionality, you can't return it because by the time the working one arrives it's far past 7 days. This is by far one of the worst companies with a really bad policy. Their e-readers are also utterly useless, have no storage space, and are all-around really bad. Don't ever buy anything from them.

I was told by their rep that the product I bought would be bilingual audio for the languages I wanted, which it was not. Their marketing materials also include two-way arrows indicationg this. This was a Christmas gift and when we discovered that it wasn't functioning as advertized on Christmas day, they said that the return time of 7 days had expired!! All I could do is trade it in on a more expensive model! How do you return a Christmas gift before Christmas? I am contacting the Better Business Bureau and the NYS Bureau of Consumer Fraud and if you know any other ways to impact their business like government contracts with the federal, military, or State departments we should all do this as taxpayers!!!

The cheapest piece of equipment I have seen in my life.
If you need to learn any language do not fall for this garbage.
We Live in 21st century for crying out loud.

Be aware that this company is selling you lies about their product. I purchased a partner product and it was not doing what was advertised. They refused to take it back on the premise that the 7 days has passed, while it was only 6 days. 
A class action law suit is getting ready against them as many people have been scammed by them.Please voice your opinion and relate your experience.

Stay away...Replacement battery can only be purchased from Ectaco at a outrageous price of $39.00...Battery lasts less than 1 hour...Translator is not as advertised, pure waste of money

My experience with Ectaco has been positive so far. I've ordered the jetbook recently and I love it. When I got it I had some questions on how to find ebooks for it so I called Ectaco and received the detailed instructions over the phone. Altough the ereader has some minor problems with certain DRM formats the product developers told me they would be releasing the updated version soon and I would be able to download it free. From what I can see, they've already released several updates for the jetbook and it's always nice to know that the manufacturer cares about your requirements for the product. They also have a forum on their web site where you can post whatever you expect to be included in the newer firmware version so they could take it into account before they release one.

My experience has been bad.  I purchased a jetbook for my daughter-in-law for a Christmas present.  turns out she does not want the jetbook.  I have the invoice/receipt to return the product and called a listed number to get a Return Merchandise Authorization #.  I was told all returns must be made within 7 days of delivery.  This is a Christmas present!  How can the 7 day delivery rule apply?  I was told I could return for another product...  Well, hopefully others will be aware of the return policy (it also applys during the holidays).

Ectaco is a very difficult company to deal with.  I purchased a translator for $500 and, after trying it out once, attempted to return it.  They have a 7 day return policy and refused to accept the product back.  The product itself is extremely difficult to use and poorly made.  I recommend not buying anything this company makes, and if you do, do not buy it from them.

Beware of purchasing from Ectaco!!!  I wish I would have read these reveiws before puschasing a Latin-English Talking Dictionary for my daughter as a gift!  The item was not as described and so I tried to return it for a refund.  They have a return policy...but you must call and get an RMA number and you must call within 7 days of placing your order!  Their customer service was rude and they passed my call around the office and parked me on hold.  There appeared not to be a person in a position of authority in the office on the day of my call.  I was told, repeatedly, to leave a message and the manager would return my call in the next week.  My recommendation....make your purchase elsewhere, or from a place like Amazon which cares about its customers despite its size!

Dealing with this company has shaken my confidence in buying online. I was shipped a defective product (battery compartment had a manufacturer`s defect). It was necessary to phone NY to get a return authorization number and to ship it to their NY depot both at my expense. I returned it with strict instructions not to replace it with a similar defective unit. They sent another defective unit anyway. I immediately returned it to the Canadian warehouse where it was shipped from. Ectaco Canada refused to accept the shipment thus it was returned to me. I repeated the original `return to NY procedure` (at my expense, of course) and was shipped a third defective unit. Emails from Ectaco state that I will not be refunded my purchase price or any shipping or telephone expenses. It is very obvious to me that they have received a shipment of products with a manufacturer`s defect and they are selling them to an unsuspecting public. I highly recommend not dealing with Ectaco. I wish I had read the reviews on this website before I dealt with Ectaco.

I wish I checked the reviews here before I placed my order to them. This company is really unreliable. Different agent will tell you different things. The customers have to pay for the mistake that they made.
I totally agree with all the bad reviews that listed below. This is the worse internetshopping experience I ever had.
