Horrible delivery times! Right now I am 13 days into waiting for my order of 4 packs of seed to show up! When I e-mail them I get one lame excuse after another!

I totally agree with the negative comments. I placed several orders over the spring and summer months. I received some of the items within 10 days or so but others seem to have been delayed indefinitely or just cancelled without notice to me. The plants I did receive were TINY and weak and even had dead leaves. The ones I planted in the spring (tomato and pepper) have hardly produced any veggies while ones I bought at Lowes or HD or from seed have done marvelously. I am really surprised Burpee.com is still in business. Horrible !!!

placed an order on burpee.com over ten days ago and still no order.  Customer service IS NOT helpful and a new projected delivery date (the first one has passed) is still not in sight.  The worst customer service I've experienced in quite a long time.  Had to reorder my seeds through another company.

I just had the worst experience with this company. They sent me MOLDY DEAD plants and when I took pictures of the product and mailed it to them, they said wait 6 weeks. Well guess what, its still dead and moldy. I spent a lot of money and for them to ship plants in plastic bags is deplorable. They have a horrible return policy. I will never get burned from this company again. I just wanted my money back and they said no. Well, now I am taking it out on them. Don't ever buy from them!!

I recently received my shipment of live plants from Burpees.  More than half of the plants were out of their containers, roots dangling, and tops snapped off the plants.  Although Burpees may do a decent job of packaging the plants, UPS, their delivery service, does a terrible job of keeping them safe on the trip to my home.  This is the fourth year in a row that I have received damaged plants.  Since the plants that I order are expensive and shipping costs are high, I will not order from Burpees again unless a better option for delivery is offered.

My experience with Burpee customer service is similar to others I see here on this page. Ordered blueberry plants almost 1 month ago. Although I did get an order confirmation right away there has been no follow up to say when or if the plants will ship (frost is not an issue and it is past the date when they are supposed to mail to this zone). Called their support number twice and was told there was no problem with filling the order but they could not say when the plants would ship. I have since followed up with 2 emails asking this simple question, "when will this order ship?" I should have saved my time since there has been no response and I doubt they even read the mail they get. I am going to try to cancel the order and buy at a local nursery.

I would think twice before ordering plants from this company.

After my initial poor review, I have to admit that I changed my mind. They are now responding to Emails and even rescheduling shipments. It looks like that they have learned to provide good customer service.

I placed an order with burpee for seeds and some watering equipment.  It has been 7 business days and my order has still not been processed.  They also had a deal for $4.95 flat rate shipping which they did honor at first.  Two days later they charged me $11.00 and no one at the place can tell me why I was charged or when I will get my money back.  The service rep was not knowledgable and very rude. When I asked to speak to the customer service reps supervisor I was told she was busy and would call me back.  Ha!  Yeah Righhhhht!  I am soooooo dissapointed in Burpee.

Its been 1.5 weeks since I ordered a plant and some seeds from this site. So far I have received neither. I got a shipping notification for the seeds but 1 week later nothing has arrived. I asked about the status of my order and shen the plant might get shipped. No response. I waited 2 days then sent another email - again no response.
Terrible service.

I've been shopping online for a decade and Burpee is the most dissappointing online shopping experience I ever had. There was one item missing from the shippment, and I didn't get any explaination or notice...when I called them I was told that it was cancelled as it is no longer available, but I then check on their website it is still shown as available as can be. And on top of that I was charged a larger amount on my credit card than the number that was on my email order confirmation! The customer service representative is cold, non friendly and not helpful. I will contact my credit company to dispute the overcharge! Terrible services...not worth the trouble, stay away

I have been using Burpee for 20 years - but the last 5 years... my experience with Burpee has gotten worse.  This year, S&H has gone sky high - $8.95 for a $30 order of seeds?  I bought it anyway because of the high quality of Burpee seeds.  When they arrived, 4 packets (of 2 product) were not included and on the packaging slip it stated they were "cancelled due to no inventory".  This is contrary to my online order (stated everything was in stock) and a follow up phone call I made (after I received a "partial shipment" email).

I called Burpee and it turns out they did have them in stock, but I now have to place a new order for those 2 products.  I was told they would ship "first class" but Burpee "only" charging me standard shipping (another $8.95).  I was promised it would be mailed by Monday or Tuesday of this past week.  It still hasn't arrived.  I called Burpee again today and found out that those products are on back order and I will receive notice when it will be shipped.

So much for starting my garden on time.  I will never order from Burpee again.

Slow product shipment, I placed an order for 4 packets of seeds early last week and my order still has not shipped. I e-mailed their customer service department with my order information asking if they had a time from for shipment and did not recieve any responce. I then called the customer service department today and was greeted in an unfriendly manner by their terrible customer service department after being put on thier automatic hold for 10 minutes.
Next year I will order from Park seed.

Cons: only seeds should be bought here, and with shipping they are not competitively priced. They don't return shipping on dead plants, so you should avoid buying these.

After much waiting, i've received a 1 inch dry stick that never became a plant. I've never expected a huge plant, but neither a death stick.

Burpee did issue a return for the failure to come alive, but did not issue a refund for the shipping costs. So overall, I've paid $15 for a package of seeds, more than 5 times what I'd have paid in a store close by.

Morals: do not buy plants, stick with seeds only if you cannot find them in a store that's close by.

My Shopping Experience was fine. Ordering was clear, speed of delivery was normal. The price was out-of-order though. I received my order of seeds AFTER the local box store had received their seeds for the same season. Additionally, ordering directly from BURPEE.com online store made the cost of a pack of seeds at least 20% higher than the local store for the same amount and type of seeds.

I will never purchased from BURPEE.com again, I'll wait for the local store.

Placed a $70+ order over ten days ago. Web site says ordered, not shipped. Called customer service and they say shipped. It cost me $9.95 to ship and it was shipped parcel post! A rip-off at half the price.

Placed multiple orders with Park Seeds, Seeds of Change, Henry Fields....all delivered prior to this weekend.

Very poor customer service, greedy shipping and handling, I won't order from them again.

I placed an order almost a month ago, and have heard nothing from Burpee. No order confirmation has been received, and two emails to Customer Service have not been answered. In addition, Burpee online order tracking is, well, ridiculous. You have to use your email address to log in (so they obviously know how to contact me about my order!), but all it shows is the order you placed. No information on estimated shipping date, whether the order has been shipped, nor even whether they ever intend to getting around to shipping the order at all.

I'm from a long-time "Burpee family". My grandparents were big Burpee fans, as were my parents before me. But I'm certainly reassessing that loyalty now. Normal ETA from the date of order to date of receipt is less than one week where I live, yet almost a month has gone by without any word at all from Burpee about my order, and no response to my two emails to Customer Service.

Inexcusable.
