I've been buying on ebay over 12 years and have many Favorite Sellers that I've actually become friends with.  In over 12 years with almost 500 purchases I've been disappointed only two times.  I rarely leave a negative review because feedback ratings are important so I was able to work out a satisfactory resolution to the problems I had with items with both Sellers.

The selection of items is broad and if you research carefully you get great deals.  I consistently buy Chico's clothing and get brand new items for 50 to 60 percent less then retail.  Check the Seller's feedback before buying and don't get caught in "auction fever" - where you keep on bidding beyond the value of the item just to win.  

I just spent over $125 today and used the Bill Me Later (credit card system) via Paypal on Ebay and have 6 months to pay for items with no interest.

I've had good experiences with Sellers and no major complaints with Customer Service.  Just have fun, research before bidding, be nice to other buyers and sellers and you'll have a great experience.

I bought a fridge from Autolec that was clearly not as described and left Negative feedback accordingly. I was somewhat harassed by this, but now notice Ebay has removed the negative feedback. Even though I was already logged in I was asked to log in again which repeatedly failed. Beware both these companies.

In the past six months I have been banned from ebay for life because I complained about a buyer who decided that he wanted his item for free. Ebay has blocked me from even buying items. With ebay screwing me out of money for sales that I had made, I'm now in bankruptcy. Ebay not only has blocked me from their site, their threatening me with arrest and taking me to court for bothering them. I have filed a lawsuit against ebay, Chapman v. Ebay Inc. DDV-12-0682

First 5 years with Ebay were amazing!! I have about 100 plus transactions during those years!! The last 6 months with Ebay and Paypal was disgusting!! I bought an item from Ebay and it arrived with 6" hole in the box and the item missing!! I did Ebay's normal process of filing a claim and they asked me to jump through a million hoops and still never refunded my money! They treated me like a criminal! I shut my ebay account and paypal account since they own both and will never do biz again with either!! I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND EITHER COMPANY!! FAIL FAIL FAIL IN CUSTOMER SERVICE!! eBay buyer protection is a fraud. Buyer protection is limited to 45 days from time of purchase and therefore often less time than the published exchange and return policy of sellers.  Contacted eBay to get support for seller who blatantly refused to honor exchange return policy published with listing. eBay (outsourced call center in India) told me that it was past 45 days from time of purchase and they would do nothing to protect me from bad seller. Terrible, out $550... I will never do business over eBay again. It is deceptive to allow sellers to place return and exchange policies on listing, directly above buyer protection logo, when buyer protection will do nothing to enforce or hold sellers accountable for exchange / return policy in eBay listings. Terrible! They should be shut down for facilitating fraud fraud and fraudulent / misleading advertising.

I also think that ebay is not as good as I though. I started selling few months ago to realized that the fee are too high (paypal fees for receiving money on top of those outrageous ebay fees?? ). They even billed before the fund is available in your paypal. And now, for unreasonable reason (even I already explain to the customer service, I called 3 times, 1 gave wrong advise which lead to my account being restricted? WTF????).

I'm now probably will only using ebay for buying, better to sell in craiglist, it will be more limited, but will not be burden by all those fees.

I have been a top-rated seller on Ebay for years with over 15,000 feedback at 100% positive and I can't stand reading what I am on here from many ill-informed people.

Here are the facts:
Ebay puts buyers FIRST and many sellers haven't been so they have taken proactive steps to protect the buyers from those sellers.

Fees have gone up, but many discounts are being offered to those who work hard to put the buyers first. Best Match simply helps the buyers find the good sellers. You can always search on lowest price or any other method you could before.

Ebay does NOT take money out of your account without permission. You give them permission to if you don't hold to certain standards in your selling agreement. They NEVER touch the buyers money.

Feedback extortion is no longer an option for bad sellers and over-charging on shipping to hide from fees has been eliminated.

Bottomline...bad sellers aren't happy that Ebay is after them, good sellers (like myself are quite happy) and buyers are more protected than ever.

Of course there are exceptions to every rule, but Ebay is MUCH more secure and safer than it has ever been.

overpriced, underperforming: 9% to sell on Ebay, plus 3% to use PayPal, deliver poor service (had me waiting over 15min. on customer service line, after they took my call). They charge 1.50 to send you your money. There is a good opportunity here for another auction platform to take market share by offering better service at a reasonable price. I also wonder if PayPal should not fall under some financial regulations, as they are holding customers funds....wonder what they are doing with them, and why they charge to send a check, if customers are already paying 3% of the sale.

Ebay is a buyer site ONLY. Sellers are literally raped! I had a customer buy an item, was unhappy with it, was told to return it for full refund. They instead opened a case and instantly eBay sided with BUYER, they got a refund AND got to keep the product! How fair is that? What is the point of Ebay even FORCING sellers to have a return policy when they don't even have to return the item to get a refund?? Smart sellers are moving to the new better selling sites. Old Ebay is just an "auction site" it's worthless otherwise especially for small sellers. Hey let's just give away everything for free!!!!!!!

The website incorrectly stated for days that the shoes were paid for. It stated this for a number of days, and when it was not until I sent the shoes off to the person who the site claimed paid for the shoes did it say the shoes were not paid for by that person. Also, the site later stated after I shipped the shoes that the person was a fraud, that should have been stated way before the shoes were marked as paid for. The person should not have even been able to use the website. Then when I spoke to a representative the first time, she cursed me out, called me horrible names, and hung up the phone on me before I could even tell her what was going on. The other two representatives I spoke with were not helpful and in fact told me incorrect information in order to get me off of the telephone. I am not a first time buyer or seller on this website, and have never had these problems before. This is HIGHLY UNACCEPTABLE AND WRONG!

I was a ebay member for almost nine years untill a VERO member falsely accused me of selling counterfeit merchandise. My account was suspended for one year even after i sent proof to the accuser that i was not selling a counterfeit version of thier product. Well they said one year, but when i tried to make a purchase almost two years later my account was still suspended, indefiently. After talking to multiple foreign people that were no help i decided i would like my account permently closed. They denied my request to delete all my personal information. Thanks to them i purchased the same product from amazon's website for half the price. I wish i would have checked out amazon years ago. I am considering reopening my online retail sunglasses business by selling my products on amazon. Thanks ebay, but your services are not required anymore.
