Really slow and expensive shipping

We were really excited about the present we got for Grandma this year.  To make sure it got to our place on time, we ordered it from Things Remembered on December 11.  The website said that if you order by December 16, it would get there even with regular shipping.  We ordered even earlier even though the level of personalization (a few birthstone charms on a chain--no engraving anywhere) was minimal.  We were aware that personalization took longer, but again, this was 4 birthstone charms on a necklace.  I received a confirmation email that the item would arrive approximately Dec 21. This was plenty of time to get here by the time we went to visit Grandma 8 hours away. December 22 came and we still had not received the item.  I checked the tracking information included in the confirmation email when I went on the website and it said "No order sent."  This necklace, weighing a few ounces, cost $11 to ship.

I sent an email off to customer service asking what happened.  I included the information I had received in the order confirmation.  We didn't get an answer, we only got a notice about 6 hours later that our item was shipped on DECEMBER 22 at 7PM --I'm presuming it was only after we asked about the item that it was actually shipped.  Unfortunately, it will be too late.  We leave on the morning the stuff is NOW set to arrive and Grandma won't be getting anything under the tree this year.  She'll have to open it up after we pay to have it sent to her house.
