With the wedding beckoning I sallied forth in search of groomsmen gifts for all my closest friends whom would be standing up in my wedding. Searching through the google archives I found several different companies offering similar gifts at various prices. Things Remembered is a gift and specialty store that offers custom engraving and Monogramming on most items. They carry a wide selection of gifts for special occasions, holidays, birthdays, children, babies, weddings, parties, friends, and family.

My first impressions of the site were fairly good as the site navigation was easy, I did however feel over whelmed with links to every isolated gift idea imaginable. I do like the custom engraving, and monogramming they offer as I want my friends to feel like the gift is something they will keep forever and remind them of this special occasion. Shipping turned out exactly as claimed, I received standard free shipping, along with 50% off an item I purchased of equal or lesser value, and the items came on time.

Honestly the 50% off was merely a drop in a bucket, because the base price of the items I purchased was not that expensive, but the killer was the personalized engraving that ran nearly $6 a word. Again this is something that made the gift more personable and special, so I felt this was something I could deal with.

I would personally recommend ordering before the special holiday/occasion as to use the inexpensive shipping method, rather than wait for the last minute. If you want to avoid the shipping charges all together you can purchase your gift from the store directly.

The website accepts major credit cards, purchase orders, and checking accounts. Larger purchases made will increase your chance of a bulk order discount. One quick fact about purchasing outside the US, they only accept telephone orders.

My experience with customer service was quite good as they called me to verify my order, and sent me an email verifying my information, plus a tracking number with an estimated date of arrival.

The final balanced accrued was about $179.83 with tax, engraving, discounts applied, and free shipping. This was not bad for 6 people (about $30 bucks each), but I personally did not get the “bang for the buck” that I would have received from a standard store. I figured that this is a one time deal, with the wedding so why not do something special for the people involved in it.

I would not recommend a constant purchase of gifts from ThingsRemembered.com as the prices and comparison was much higher than other specialty stores that I had visited, and make sure you find the deals like free shipping or 50% off which makes the experience on your wallet less painful.
