Best way to buy tires!

I have been buying tires from TireRack for many years. Their website is probably the best in the business for doing research on tires. You can input your vehicle and they will show what the original tire size was and then you can go from there. If you want to go wider or with a larger wheel they can guide you.

Probably the best thing is the customer ratings for every tire. You can look at a great matrix of the tires with different ratings for things like dry handling, wet handling, light snow traction, noise, wear. All these items are color coded and a master score lets you sort the tires so the best are on top. Of course if something is more important like dry handling you can find ones that meet your needs also.
The prices are very good and their delivery is amazing. I live near (about 100 miles) one of their distribution centers and I ordered some tires last night and they arrived this afternoon (without overnight shipping)!

They have agreements with local tire stores so you can go and get the tires installed without headaches.

I think if you are buying the standard tires for a common car you can probably get a local tire store to come very close to the total cost; but if you want a particular tire, then TireRack is the place to go. They have an incredible selection of all kinds of tires (touring, summer performance, racing, winter, etc.). I have had to call their customer service a few times and they were always very accommodating. Once I broke one of the wheel covers for the steel wheels that I bought for a winter set; they sent me a single replacement wheel cover for no charge.

If you do have any technical questions their sales reps seem to really know the performance tire world.

Overall I have been very pleased with TireRack and will continue to shop there for all my future tire needs.
