Forget spa or a massage. Territory Ahead's clothing help put me in a relaxed and vacationy mood right in the middle of a New York City work day. Their name and slogan, from Huckleberry Finn: "Well, I reckon I got to light out for the territory ahead of the rest because Aunt Sally she’s going to adopt me and civilize me and I can’t stand it. I been there before." really convey their philosophy. More importantly, their clothings really convey their philosophy, from season to season. That's what make this place a gem.

Their best part is their fabric. Those loose, multilayered and multi-textured weave of cotton or linen feels rough but gentle. The point is that you feel the clothes on you all day, versus an Oxford shirt, void of any texture, consciousness or personality...

They're a bit pricey. But their items do last and if a button falls off, they'll be glad to send you a new one.

What they should do next is a TA community. It would be a bunch of relaxed urbanites drinking Sangria and talking trash...
