My brother bought my son a kids' video camera on radioshack.com. He's in MA, we're in VA. I picked the camera up from the store without showing any kind of ID. Easy to pick up - very hard to return is the lesson...
The camera was a great idea, but it was so cheap that the door over the SD memory card (no, it didn't even come with a small starter memory card) didn't shut, and there were many other problems. I looked around for something to get in return. The RC helicopter my son wanted was out of stock, so the guy tried to upsell me to a $100 RC car. I almost bought it until he told me that the battery was $40 and separate. Forget it. So, I said, I think I will just return it. He started to process a gift card. I said, no, I wanted it back on my brother's credit card. There was a $20 rebate which he would then lose out on, so back on the card, please. Then the guy tells me he can't refund it because he doesn't have the credit card. What? It was an online order. It's not like an in-store purchase. You have all the information you need on file associated with the order number. No, it's a security measure. What? Am I going to refund the money to anyone's card but the person who purchase it? That's ridiculous. He says I have to mail it to my brother so he can bring it to a Radio Shack. $10 to mail and insure this thing that sucked to begin with ?? No, thanks. So, I say forget it, and go home and call corporate HQ, and customer care. I am on hold for an hour total for 3 different phone calls, and in the end, they are mailing me a return label. Ridiculous. Radio Shack has lost two customers. My son is 8 and very into electronics and science but we'll be doing our shopping at Edmund Scientific, thank you very much!!
