Be wary of Dell customer support agreements and extended warranties. Check all details, ask about limitations around holidays and specifically what recourse you have if they confirm a service call and do not show up. It happened to me, I took a day off work after the tech confirmed he would be at my house – did not show up with the part and then called to reschedule another day. No compensation for my lost time was offered by Dell. Just check with their service and sales people before you spend money with Dell.

Ordered a TV from Dell. Arrived 10 days late.
TV arrived broken, will not turn on. Called customer service,
Transferred 4 times, 40 minutes later the call was dropped.
Called backed, transferred 2 times,
Over 20 minutes later, spoke to a person,
Told that the system was down and that they could no look up answers to my questions, and to call back later.
Called the order desk and got right through.
Told the person that I am returning the item.
Transferred to cancellations
On hold for 40 minutes. Person answer, took down information.
Call dropped Total time on tranfer calls, drop calls:
Over three hours. Gave up
Called AMX to file claim on buyer protection plan.
Done.

My company has purchased several computers from Dell's on line store and have been very satisfied with the products and service we have received. The computers are very customizable which is terrific for us and the prices are extremely competitive. The quality of the component is good and the deliver speed has also been good on all of our orders. I recommend Dell.com to everyone making a computer purchase on line.
Once suggestion is to give yourself some time to place the order because with the flexibility and customization comes some complexity so you have to pay attention and take your time when placing your order.

I ordered my laptop on Cyber Monday, 11/30/09. The estimated delivery date at the time was 1/7/10. I logged into my Dell account on 1/5 to check the status of the order, and it had been delayed a week. The next week, I logged in again to check it, as I hadn't received a shipping notice yet. Delayed again! The third week of January, the same thing! I called customer service and was told my order was still in production, but it was on track to be delivered the following week - the last week of January. That week, I checked my order a fourth time, and another delay!! I was really irate, so I called customer service and fired off several emails to various departments, demanding some kind of explanation for why so many delays. I was mollified by a reply from a Dell forums rep, who was very polite and explained that Dell was having issues acquiring enough BluRay players to fulfill their orders. He promised I would receive my order the following week, and that it would be sent out via overnight delivery. I finally did receive my laptop the first week of February, but the promised overnight delivery was NOT used. Nor did I ever receive a real apology for the delays. Thopugh the loooong wait was really hellacious, and customer care was anything but that, I'm happy with my purchase overall because of the great sale I got, and the quality of the laptop. It is blazing fast and has incredible graphics.

Dell shipped the HDTV via Pilot--a company I've never heard of. The ETA was on the 5th, it is now the 9th. The tracking number on the Pilot website reads: Status - EXCEPTION: Bad Address even though I've had no issues before with Dell with previous orders--which were shipped via FedEx. I've emailed Dell regarding this and I got an automated response; I replied to the automated response and now I am waiting for a response from a human representative.

It was so horrible that I will never buy from Dell again. I would pay double to buy from any other company. Dell's customer service is worse than unacceptable. I had a problem with my hard drive, and the online "help" linked me to an article that explained what a hard drive IS. I know that; I wanted my vendor to fix help me the problem. Dell has always had horrible phone assistance, but now it's impossible to get anyone on the phone at all.

The on line confirmation only mentioned that the color cartridge was being sent; however, I did receive both color and black & white ccartridges in same box.

PLEASE NOTE: My rating of customer service as unacceptable applies only the first person I talked to. The second person I talked to was very helpful and very competent.
When I went to sign out, the total was much more than the price of the product I ordered. No other items were on the order. I couldn't change the amount.
I would buy ink from Dell again because there is no other source. I plan to buy a competitor's printer with a lower cost of ink. (and hopefully fewer problems using customer service)

The hardware & software were fine. The website was filled with muiltiple, conflicting & confusing offers on the same or nearly identical products. The computer came loaded with junk programs (Bling, MSN, Macafee)that actually DESTROYED most of my hard work setting up the machine to my liking and url Favorites. It still requires endless clicks to make them go away and leave me alone. I will not soon forget this, Dell.
