Perfect storm of mishandling an order.

Ordered for Christmas with guaranteed delivery. BuyDig.com had best price and good reputation according to reviews. Order system was easy. My order was immediately acknowledged by email; payment charged to credit card, but then the fun began. When order did not arrive by Dec 23, I called and was told - oops - they forgot to ship it! But was assured it would be sent out that very moment FedEx at no charge to me, however, it might not arrive for Christmas. Not happy, but things happen. Then, next day, got an email asking if I wanted to cancel, that the item was not in stock. I replied, no, it was ordered and promised, so please make it so as a company of good reputation. Emails went back and forth, and I finally called again, several days after Christmas.
Profuse apologies and the promise to find item of equal or greater quality to replace original, which was still not in stock. I agreed, based on description provided by rep, plus promise that if it was not to my satisfaction, no problem, they would take it back at no cost to me. Replacement shipped asap, except it was not the same - it was missing a key feature I specifically asked about. Didn't even open the box - description printed on the box clearly stated features.
Went looking elsewhere, found the exact model I wanted, and bought it.
More emails to BuyDig to return the replacement. More failures to provide proper return instructions or return label. Very frustrating. After another phone call, they finally authorized a FedEx call tag pickup. Got an email four days ago that return was received, and to allow 7 to 14 business days for return to be processed. Who knows how long it will really be before refund is issued! It has now been nearly six long weeks since the original order was placed.
I can't believe this is their customers' usual experience, or they would not do such a brisk business. I've had other online mishaps, but all were handled professionally and quickly. Based on that, I have to say about BuyDig: buyer beware, be very aware.
