This fortified port-style wine has been a winning idea for many years. We have been able to use some very ripe cabernet sauvignon in an unorthodox manner-- making a sweet wine by truncating fermentation midway through. This technique adds a bit of heat to sweet result, and we feel that its fruit-intense character requires very little barrel time, and no new wood. A fun alternative for dessert, and a way to extend JUSTIN pleasure through end of meal Deep ruby with a garnet rim. Sweet, ripe black cherry, dried plum, and fig. Dark berries, cocoa, plum, and sweet raspberry jam with soft tannins and a medium-long, slightly raisiny finish.

A nose of great purity opening on a vigorous note of concentrated black woodland fruit laced with raspberry and plum. Around this dense fruity core, with its attractive vibrancy and minerality, is a fragrant and complex aura of citrus fruit blossom and wild herbal scents of mint and lavendar. Supported by a tight warp of thick sinewy tannins, palate explodes with concentrated ripe black fruit flavor which surges into long finish before being gripped in a tight tannic embrace. A wine which manages to combine massive structure and powerful fruitness of 2009 harvest with elegance, poise and finesse.

Quinta do Vesuvio 2007 is a fabulous accompaniment to chocolate desserts, such as flourless chocolate cake or dark chocolate truffles, but can also be enjoyed on its own - it is an experience in itself. Port is best served in classic Port wine glassware or white wine glasses. Avoid cordial or liqueur glasses as they are too small to fully appreciate wine's aromas. These wines can be drunk young by those who enjoy a more fruit driven style, but will also age superbly over decades to come. The Wine Advocate rating: 91.

20 Years indicates and average age this Aged Tawny Port is a blend of older wines, which offer complexity and younger wines, which bring fresh fruit flavors and vibrancy. During their long maturing period in oak casks, Aged Tawnies undergo subtle color changes: deep red hue which characterizes Port's youth gradually gives way to a paler golden amber color. Dow's is known for its characteristically drier house style. This 20 Year has a full, nutty bouquet, concentrated, citrus, almond and caramel notes on palate and a lingering finish. Many consider 20 Year to be perfect blend of complexity and vibrant fruit when it comes to Aged Tawny. Serving and pairing suggestions Dow's 20 Year is bottled ready to drink after an average of at least 20 years of cask aging. It has a t-cap closure, which means that you don't need a corkscrew to open it and that it will stay fresh for four to six months if stored in a cool, dark place or refrigerator. Potentially one of most compelling wines of vintage, this inky black/purple-colored 2000 exhibits notes of scorched earth, melted asphalt, blackberry liqueur, and a pungent, penetrating intensity that reverberates in mouth as well as head. Full-bodied, massive, and concentrated, with a 45-second finish. This thrilling effort should drink well between 2010-2035. - Wine Advocate Simply put, Cockburn's Vintage Port is best of best - best wine of one superior year blended from various vineyard sources. Aged two years in cask before bottling, vintage ports require at least 15 years of bottle aging. Declaring a vintage is a weighty decision for port producers, as company's reputation is largely determined by quality and style of its vintage port (even though vintage declarations amount to only 1-3% of total production in any year). Therefore, when Cockburn's declares a wine worthy of a vintage designation, wine must be outstanding. Cockburn's has historically been more cons Wine Spectator ra
