This wine is from United States, Washington region. Spring Valley Vineyard was established in 1993 on wheat land in Spring Valley, Walla Walla County; land that has been farmed by the Corkrum family for five generations. Evaluation of the terroir revealed an excellent environment for growing wine grapes. With elevation between 1,200 and 1,500 feet, today Spring Valley maintains a forty-acre vineyard made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, CabernetFranc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Syrah.Placed on a south-southwest facing hillside, the vines follow the north-south slope of the hills in vertical rows. This orientation, coupled with the declination of slope affords the vines optimal sunshine, cold air, drainage, and takes advantage of the reflective nature of the surrounding hills.Following the tradition of Uriah, Frederick and Nina Lee Corkrum, Shari Corkrum Derby and her husband Dean Derby continue to operate the wheat, vineyard and winery. Dean's brother, Gaynor Derby, manages the vineyard. The hard work, traditional values and deep family ties that have kept the ranch going got over 100 years is mirrored in Spring Valley Vineyard's signature offerings. This wine is from Italy, Piedmont region, Barolo sub-region. The Borolis are a Piedmontese family who have been in business in the region - first in textiles, and now inwinegrowing - since 1831. Boroli is comprised of two estates: Cascina Bompe, in a small village just outside of Albawith its own winery and La Brunella in the heart of Barolo in Castiglione Falletto. In addition to the vineyards above, the property includes Villero and Borgata Cerequio both considered two of the Langhe’s great cru vineyards. Eachvineyard has a particular terrior - La Brunella has a mostly medium-loamy chalk soil with sand veins, and east tosouth, southwesterly and west exposures. The Villero exposition is south-southwest and the soil is a moistureretainingmix of marl, clay and silt. Borgata Cerequio faces south and southeast on limestone and sand soil, at analtitude of 900 feet above sea level. The estate’s director is the winemaker Enzo Alluvione, who is assisted by hisson Daniele in the vineyards. The estate’s consultant is the noted winemaker Beppe Caviola who was chosen aGambero Rosso’s Winemaker of the Year in 2002. NEBBIOLO Wine Italian Still Wine

This wine is from Italy, Tuscany region. Lots of folks are familiar with Argiano; they make a whole bunch of Sangiovese-based wines in Tuscany. The ownership of the vineyards have traded hands between different Italian nobles for years and years, and now its finally under the wing of the countess Noemi Marone Cinzano. Noemi aint just a rich lady with a pretty name and a good eye for making investments in beautiful vineyards (perfectly situated in their own microclimate optimal for growing Sangiovese, we might add!). She also loves herself some good wine. Now itas not on the official press sheets or anything, but the word on the street is that Suolo, the estateas flagship wine, wasnat originally meant to be drunk by you and me. Nope. This label was originally made solely for the countess herself until they realized just how much top-quality Sangiovese they had suitable for this bottling! Lucky for us, they decided to share the wealth. 100% Sangiovese Total production (btls): 2,500 Vinification: Full berries of Sangiovese (100%), de-storked but not crushed, entered the temperature controlled fermentation tanks. A traditional fermentation was carried out through using its own indigenous yeasts. The maceration lasts for 21 days at strictly controlled temperature. Ageing: Right after the drawing off, the wine was transferred for the malolactic fermentation into small new French oak casks. Great care was undertaken on the woods selection for the barriques. Only wood of the finest grain, i. e. from the central part of the oak tree, was used, so as to ensure an optimum maturation and exemplary tannins extraction. During the initial period various battonages were conducted to add complexity and suppleness to the wine, and the maturation in wood lasted for 15 months. The wine was bottled without further filtration but by simple decanting, and has completed its bouquet for another year in the bottle. ITALIAN RED BLEND Wine ITALIAN STILL WINE

This wine is from Italy, Umbria region. The 2005 Montefalco Rosso Riserva Pipparello is a rock star wine. This powerful, intense red emerges with generous dark cherries, plums, licorice, smoke and leather. The late harvest in 2005 resulted in an extraordinarily complete wine blessed with tons of pedigree. The 2005 Pipparello is 60% Sangiovese, 25% Montepulciano daAbruzzo and 15% Sagrantino. The wine saw 42 days of contact on the skins and was aged for a year in stainless steel followed by two years in cask. Simply put, it is magnificent! Anticipated maturity: 2013-2025. Giampiero Bea is one of Umbriaas leading producers. The wines are made in a totally natural, non-interventionalist style, with no temperature control in fermentation, only natural yeasts and no added sulfites. At their best, these are wonderfully pure, expressive wines loaded with character. Because Bea lets nature runs its course, the wines are highly vintage sensitive. In great years the wines are typically fabulous but in weaker vintages the wines tend to reflect both the positive and negative attributes of those years to a higher degree than most wines these days. Whether that is a good or bad thing depends on oneas point of view, but there is no mistaking that when Bea has ideal conditions to work with his wines are stellar. Wine UMBRIA

This wine is from France, Rhone region. The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out to be a beauty. Dark ruby/purple to the rim, with a flamboyant black currant, sweet cherry, floral, licorice, and spicy nose, the wine is deep, full-bodied, with supple tannins and long, heady glycerin and extract in the supple finish. This is a surprisingly approachable 2005 that already drinks well but should continue to evolve for 10-15+ years. At times proprietor Paul Autard has clearly moved into the modern school of Chateauneuf du Pape with the use of barriques, still very much a minority school, but like so many who have experimented with new oak for the Syrah or Mourvedre components, there seems to be a gradual shifting back from the percentage of new oak to larger barrel formats such as demi-muids, etc. I felt this was Paul Autardas strongest lineup of wines since his 1998s. His great insight was understanding the potential, still untapped, of the territory of Vincigliata in Fiesole, with lots of minerals on a clay and galestro foundation softened by sand. Separate vinification for every varietal left almost entirely uncrushed in open barriques, no pressing, and a wise blending and refinement are just some of the secrets of the amazing TestamattaaHowever, the series of wines made this year are so suberb that they cannot even be compared with the best offerings of recent years, which had already raised such clamor.a - Daniel Thomases With the 2005 vintage, the wine is now 100% Sangiovese fermented in open oak barrels and aged in new oak barriques for 18 months, followed by 6 months in bottle. The 2005 vintage has a structure for long aging potential and is polished but unmistakably Tuscan. The harvest, usually beginning around mid-September, is the moment which most clearly highlights the detailed cure which goes into every detail of this wine. Precise harvest time is determined with accuracy, to ensure that the grapes can give the maximum expression of their characteristics in the cellar. This wine is from United States, California region. 95 points, Robert Parker, Wine AdvocateDecember 2007The 2005 Syrah Kobler Family Vineyard, which is a cool Russian River site, tips the scales at only 12.6% alcohol, but it has incredible phenolic maturity because of the long, cool growing season at this site. Notes of bacon fat, violets, blackberry, and cassis as well as licorice and some exotic apricots make an impression in this inky/purple wine of great intensity, fabulous texture, and stunning purity. The exotic influence comes from the 10% Viognier co-fermented with the Syrah. This is a tour de force in winemaking, and should age brilliantly for 10-15 years. Exciting wines seem to emerge annually from Pax Mahle, a self-trained winemaker (and all the better for it), and owner Joe Donelan.
