Brilliant deep red color with purple hues. Nose is developed with blackcurrant, toasted bread, vanilla, cherry. Supple, mellow wine, with sturdy and very ripe tannins. A warming wine with very ripe touches. Very elegant tannic structure, with a fresh finish. A great expression of Pauillac, thanks to rich tannic structure and an exceptional mellowness. Seems at this stage of evolution best ever made, even better than vintage 2000, which remains reference vintage. Blend 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5%Cabernet Franc Wine Enthusiast rating: 90.

This wine is from United States, California region, Napa County sub-region and Stags Leap District appellation. Dramatic improvements are clearly underway at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, which was sold to a consortium led by Tuscany's Piero Antinori in 2007. Antinori brought in well-known consultant Renzo Cotarella to improve the quality and, hopefully, get this winery back to the lofty heights it achieved in the seventies and early eighties. They seem to be well on their way, which is good news for consumers. This is a large estate of 104 acres, all situated as one giant block of vineyards in the southern part of the Stags Leap appellation. The change in ownership and winemaking staff shows progressive improvement with each vintage starting with 2007. The 2009s look to be their best wines to date. As for the 2007 reds, normally four cuvees are produced, all based on Cabernet Sauvignon, including the Cask 23, which comes from the best lots from the Fay and S.L.V. estate vineyards after fermentations are completed. The most impressive Stag's Leap Wine Cellars' offerings made since the 1985 vintage are the three 2009s I was permitted to taste from barrel..

Our 2005 Diamond Mountain Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon celebrates mountain terroir of a vineyard high above Napa Valley. Inky, intense and complex, this wine speaks volumes about mountain-grown fruit. Our Diamond Mountain Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is strikingly different in varietal expression; it's packed with concentrated, wild blackberry character that defines briary, says Winemaker Mike Westrick. rich aromatics and dense flavors are layered with delicious wild berries, cassis, bittersweet chocolate, cigar box and oak spice. The muscular tannins support powerful flavors clear through persistent finish. We tamed mountain-intense flavors and tannins with gentle winemaking, keeping the wine's inherent complexity while giving elegance and balance. After 18 months of aging in predominantly French oak barrels, wine was blended with small amounts of Merlot and Petit Verdot. Wine & Spirits rating: 92.

The fruit for this remarkable wine was harvested by hand from October 5 through October 14, 2005, entirely from the three, estate grown, Husic Vineyards, above the Stags Leap District. Picked at extreme ripeness, the fruit was gently hand-sorted, destemmed, and sorted again until each grape was inspected. The grapes were carefully transferred to a fermentation tank without the use of pumps, and were fermented on the skins for more than 30 days. The inky-black wine was then transferred by gravity to new French Oak barrels and aged for nearly two years in caves held at 58A F. The best barrels were chosen for the final blend, and the wine was bottled without fining and with minimal filtration for clarity. The finished wine displays elegant raspberry and dark chocolate aromas, with notes of baking spices, cedar and warm toasty vanilla providing complexity. The texture on the palate is rich and satiny, with dark red fruits (dark cherries and plums) displaying a bright sweet character throughout the finish. Though the Husic Estate is known for dark intensity derived from its steep rocky hillside, this vintage displays a softness and elegance in addition to its intensity. The finished wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, 100% Estate-grown, and aged in 100% new French oak barrels. 1,255 cases were produced.

Golden, bright and iridescent. Fine, regular bubbles with a well-defined flow. Sparkling, almost varietal bouquet, redolent of Chardonnay and white fruit aromas of apple, pear and pollen and soft, sweet citrus fruit like grapefruit. These are followed by warm, chocolaty hints, vanilla, tatin pie, and baked apple which are typical of our Maison. bite in mouth is extremely elegant, balanced and mineral, characterized by purity, precision and mineral quality of Cote des Blancs terroirs, along with a delicate creamy, almost cozy texture. texture and concentration of 2005 vintage wraps itself around purity typical of whites, making it sumptuously indulgent. very long winey finish is sublimed by a perfectly-balanced, enduring acidity. maturity of this vintage is an added asset for this Blanc de Blancs 2005 which pleasantly – almost disconcertingly – combines purity, texture and freshness to produce a refined, gourmet wine. word ame is French for soul. It's something any winemaker or grape grower wants in their final wine. While developing Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards on our Conn Valley ranch, it became apparent that one parcel in particular stood out above rest - literally as well as figuratively - given it was highest elevation and rockiest parcel on property. It took four years to develop, due to rock removal and steepness of slopes. results were worth effort. We found that out in 2005 when Cabernet Sauvignon crop from this block proved to be not only darker and more intense but dramatically different in aroma and flavor. We bottled it separately and called it ame, for some our soul is certainly in it. It's important to us as well that there's some recognition of our three children, Alexandra, Michael and Elizabeth, whose first name initials make up word. International Wine Cellar rating: 90.

With its excellent quality and abundant crop size, the 2005 vintage has the potential to be among the best of the decade. Heavy rainfall after bud break and during fruit set made for a nervous start to the growing season. Fortunately, temperatures rose following bloom and remained moderate throughout the summer. The late spring rains and moderate temperatures reduced the need for irrigation, and some of our blocks were dry farmed throughout the season. In September, warmer weather arrived with an Indian summer that provided ideal conditions for the final push to ripeness.

For his style, integrity and skill as a winemaker, Peter Lehmann has come to be known as 'Mentor' by many of today's Australian winemakers. His conviction that Barossa was capable of making best wines in world extended far beyond Shiraz – he's always called it a 'Garden of Eden', a winemaker's paradise. When it came to selecting a wine to dedicate to Peter Lehmann, it was not without a sense of irony that we chose Barossa Cabernet. color is deep with a dense center. nose has inviting aromas of classical Barossa Cabernet blackcurrant, hints of mint, and cedar box. palate has a defined Cabernet cassis flavor, a touch of chocolate and vanilla, and shows a superb integration of oak and fruit. Mentor is an ideal accompaniment for rich duck, goose and game dishes. It is superb with oxtail, braised lamb shanks and wonderful with a fine aged cheddar. Australian Wine Companion rating: 90.
