This wine is from United States, Washington region, Columbia Valley sub-region and Walla Walla Valley appellation. L’Ecole No. 41 was the third winery to open in Walla Walla Valley in Washington State. The winery, housed in the historic Frenchtown School, remains one of the state’s most important - for its history, its vineyards, its forward thinking owners and most of all, its wines. A family owned business, L’Ecole No 41 was founded in 1983 by Jean and Baker Ferguson. Today it is owned and operated by their daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Martin Clubb. The winery maintains its original focus on Merlot and Semillon and also produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc. The estate fruit is grown at the acclaimed Seven Hills Vineyard, co-owned with Leonetti Cellar and Pepper Bridge Winery. Established relationships with proven Columbia Valley vineyards such as Klipsun, Bacchus, Dionysus, Milbrandt, Portteus, Fair Acre Farms, Wahluke Slope Vineyards and Willard Farms provide the rest of the fruit. Many of these vineyards were planted in the 1970’s or early 1980’s. The Semillon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon are all barrel aged. A recently built concrete tilt barrel storage facility accommodates inventory of over 2,000 French and American oak barrels. Wine & Spirits named L’Ecole No. 41 Winery of the Year in its 2010 Annual Buying Guide. L’Ecole has received this honor eight consecutive times, placing them in Wine & Spirits Hall of Fame. Our 2008 Traditions Cabernet Sauvignon features grapes from our estate vineyards in Wahluke Slope AVA of Eastern Washington. Established in 2006, Wahluke Slope is a sub-region within the Columbia Valley appellation. Located midway between Seattle and Spokane it is bordered by Columbia River to southwest and Hanford Reach National Monument to eaSaint climate here is warm enough during day to fully ripen grapes, yet cool enough at night to ensure bright acids and firm tannins. Our 2008 Traditions epitomizes Eastern Washington Cabernet. It is dark, harmonious and complex with black cherry, plum, cassis, vanilla, spicy oak, chocolate, dried herbs and a whiff of mint. While it is soft on palate there are enough fine-grained tannins to lend an approachable, velvety structure. Open a bottle with roasted meats, stews, lamb kebabs, cassoulet, hamburgers, barbecue, ribs, sloppy joes, tacos or pizza. Wine & Spirits rating: 90.

76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 5% Syrah, 1% Lemberger. For Hogue Genesis, we seek wine grapes from most distinctive vineyard sites in Eastern Washington. For 2007 vintage, we selected fruit from choicest sites in Washington for Cabernet Sauvignon. Very ripe, full-flavored Cabernet was harvested from vineyards in Horse Heaven Hills and Wahluke Slope, where desert-like conditions of warm days, cool nights, and constant, drying winds allow fruit to fully ripen without threat of disease. We also selected grapes from Dionysus Vineyard, one of oldest and most prestigious vineyards in Columbia Valley, known for its intensely concentrated fruit. There is no mistaking this wine for anything other than Cabernet. It has classic Cab flavors of cassis and blackberry, along with cocoa and maple, an earthy undertone, and light cedar and spice on the finish. This is a serious, full-bodied wine with great aging potential. Pour alongside pan-seared filet mignon, braised short ribs, or grilled s Win

2008 growing season started out slow with cool temperatures in spring. summer was consistent and warm. Hot August weather provided great ripening conditions getting fruit ready to harveSaint Due to slow start to vintage, harvest was on average 10 days later than in recent years. Fermented entirely in French oak barrels, our 2008 Columbia valley Chardonnay balances richness of barrel aging with crisp acidity of Columbia Valley vineyards. Food Pairing: Try pairing our Chardonnay with seared halibut, roasted chicken or creamy pasta dishes. Wine Enthusiast rating: 87.
