Montevina’s White Zinfandel boasts cheery carnation hue. Aromas of kiwi, watermelon, and strawberry prance out of the glass and couple upwith juicy grape flavors to jitterbug on your tongue. A brisk acidity addsa touch of sass to the act. A touch of sweetness makes this a delightfully quaffable rose. Whether dining on spicy Asian inspired dishes, sitting poolside, or out for a night on the town, Montevina 2007 White Zinfandel is the perfect pink to drink. Zinfandel grapes facing a rosy future, get different parenting in the cellar. The white zinfandel fruit is the first to come into the winery and is fermented and put to bed in stainless steel tanks before the red wine grapes are ready to pick. The less mature fruit is lighter in color, higher in acidity, and lower in sugar…perfect for pink. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes were gently roller-crushed and pressed to minimize color and tannin extraction. The juice was fermented at a cool 55 degrees for two weeks to retain fermentation aromas. Fermented to dryness, the wine was amended with a sweet vinmute (a small amount of unfermented grape juice) to balance its low pH and brisk aciditywith a small degree of residual sugar. The wine is kept cold in stainless steel tanks and filtered just before bottling to preserve freshness.

Montevina 2009 Pinot Grigio is the ultimate crowd pleaser. A lovely fresh color hints to thesubtle delicacy and clean bright refreshment of the wine. Aromas of white nectarine andpeach blossom dance out of the glass. Each sip delivers flavors rich with Bartlett pear, stonefruit flavors with a hint of nutmeg spice. Pair this delightful Pinot Grigio with anythingfrom simple Ceprese salad, to cracked crab, to spicy Thai cuisine. Pinot Grigioa s grey color creates unique winemaking challenges. The fruit is gentlydestemmed, then sent straight away to the press. Rather than inflating the bladders withinthe press and putting the squeeze on the grapes, we simply roll the press, letting the weightof the fruit crush the grapes themselves, releasing delicate ester-filled juice. Even the lightestpress would add too much color from the skins to the juice. The fermentation is carriedout in stainless steel at very low temperatures. The finished wine is held cold until bottling, and malolactic fermentation is prevented to preserve fresh acidity.

This added skin contact allows for more extraction, and keepingthe fermentation at 55 degrees helps retain tropical fermentation aromas. The Montevina2008 Sauvignon Blanc has seen no oak. Barrel fermenting or oak aging would smother thefreshness we wish to showcase. The lees are not stirred and the wine is not put throughmalolactic fermentation. This wine is from United States, California region, Sierra Nevada sub-region and Sierra Foothills appellation. At Montevina Winery we're known for our Zinfandels. This particular wine is a blend of Amador and Lodi appellation fruit. Our local Amador County has long been thought of as an ideal growing area for Zinfandel due to its shallow, decomposed granite soils and warm climate. The Lodi region boasts a classic Mediterranean climate. The dry warm summer days allow Lodi grapes to develop full ripe fruit flavors while the distinctive breezes maintain the natural acidity for structure and complexity in the finished wines. After over 20 vintages, Winemaker Jeff Meyers has learned many things about Zinfandel. One of those things is that there is definitely more than one way to Zin. This is one of the easiest. Like a pair of worn-in blue jeans. Comfortable, fits well and just right for almost any occasion. Fresh, jammy aromas of ripe black fruit with a dash of pepper gives your palate early warning of the ripe forward fruit and spice flavors in the glass. Soft tannins provide a smooth finish…just as this wine does to any day of the week. ZINFANDEL Wine California Still Wine
