This wine is from United States, California region, Napa County sub-region and Napa Valley appellation. Our Napa Valley collection of wines are crafted with the same approach to winemaking as our limited-production estate wines, resulting in wines of supple power and elegance. In fact, fruit from our estate vineyards makes a significant contribution to our Napa Valley Merlot. Then, to complement our estate fruit's distinctive qualities of flavor and structure, we turn to independent growers whose vineyards meet our rigorous farming standards.. Over 55% of this blend is composed of estate fruit. We get much of this fruit from our ARCADIA VINEYARD, which contributes structure as well as a core of red berry and plum characters with elements of spice. Then we layer in fruit from B.R.V., our estate vineyard in the Oak Knoll District, providing rounder, brighter fruit notes and a tobacco leaf character. To augment the supple character of the Merlot, we added a small but important percent of Cabernet Sauvignon to build weight and intensity. Fifteen months in French oak barrels brings all the elements together for an approachable, yet refined wine. MERLOT Wine California Still Wine

International Wine Cellar rating: 95. new wine from 2009 vintage was deeply-colored, almost black. It had great concentration with powerful, complex, and elegant aromas of red and black fruit, spices, herbs, cedar, licorice, clove, and graphite. This complexity was also present on palate, and wine soon proved to be rich, powerful, balanced, and refreshing. With time, power and concentration have become its hallmarks – but not at all at expense of finesse. tannin is incredibly rich and there is a beautiful, long aftertaSainte aromatic complexity on nose carries over to palate, which features superb red fruit and spicy flavors (clove, liquorice, and cinnamon) as well as subtle overtones of graphite, gunflint, and violet. 2009 Smith Haut Lafitte displays a rare combination of power, richness, outstanding elegance, and delicate tannin. This wine is from United States, California region, Napa County sub-region and Stags Leap District appellation. CASK 23, made only in exceptional vintages, is usually a blend of the most distinctive fruit from our S.L.V. and FAY estate vineyards. The story of CASK 23 began during the harvest of 1974. Back then, winery founder Warren Winiarski enlisted the help of celebrated winemakerAndre Tchelistcheff. As they tasted through various lots of new wines from that year, they noticed a distinct character in a lot from the center of Block 4, a character they described as “crushed violets'. It was so appealing that they decided to age this wine separately in a wooden cask, number 23. The wine was still so deliciously distinct after further aging in barrel, Warren decided to bottle it separately and give it a special name-CASK 23.. Much of S.L.V. has been replanted, but the vines in Block 4 from the original planting in 1972 still stand, and they continue to produce fruit of exquisite character. Over the years, we've identified other blocks and sub-blocks of our estate vineyards that consistently yield fruit ofexceptional quality, but the choice of which grapes go into CASK 23 is far from automatic. We pick and vinify in small lots, then carefully monitor each lot's development to determine which ones live up to their full potential. The fruit from S.L.V., with its volcanic soils, contribute complex structure, concentration, and spicy intensity, while the alluvial soils of FAY yield fruit with lush perfume and rich berry flavors. When blended together, the intense “fire'-like qualities of S.L.V. and the supple, “water'-likecharacteristics of FAY create a wine of classic elegance, structure, and age-ability. The 2005 ZD Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon represents another example of our commitment to producing powerful cabernets that also exhibit an elegant balance and distinctive style. With ZDs organically farmed Rutherford Estate as the core, this wine is a blend from several small low yielding hillside vineyards in the Napa Valley. Each vineyard lot was fermented and aged separately for one year before blending. The final reserve blend was then returned to barrel for an additional two years of rest in American Oak barrels. Savoring the intense aromas of ripe blackberry, cassis and plum, and subtle notes of clove, anise and sweet vanilla is an absolute joy. Deep, ripe black fruit is enveloped in soft, velvety tannins that carry extraordinary fruit flavors through to a long, seductive finish. This wine is drinking great right now but will age beautifully for many years to come. Only 800 cases produced! Enjoy!-Chris Pisani, Winemaker CABERNET SAUVIGNON Wine CALIFORNIA STILL WINE

This wine is from United States, California region, Napa County sub-region and Napa Valley appellation. Arietta H Block Hudson Vineyards Napa Valley is a blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The Cabernet Franc is solely from the 2.3 acre Hudson Vineyards H Block, a shy-bearing, volcanic, southwest facing slope, which naturally yields just three tons per acre. The Merlot is grown in the Hudson Vineyards N Block, about 100 yards away. Typically, the two fields are picked simultaneously and co-fermented, assuring a marriage of the varieties. The Cabernet Franc provides the cassis, blueberry, brown sugar character, while the Merlot brings dark chocolate to the aroma and a chewy richness to the finish. Harvested near the extreme of ripeness, the wine is fermented with its indigenous yeast, macerated with the skins for six weeks, and then aged for two years in all new French oak barrels. Naturally clarified by traditional Bordeaux racking, the blend is bottled without fining or filtration. The intense concentration masks the substantial tannin, allowing the wine to be served young and to age in bottle for 10 or more years. BORDEAUX BLEND Wine California Still Wine

This wine is from Australia, South Australia region, Barossa sub-region and Barossa Valley appellation. Torbreck Vintners was founded by David Powell in 1994. Dave was working at Barossa’s Rockford Winery when he began dreaming of his own wine label, dedicated to making wine from some of the valley’s oldest vines He helped a few area growers nurture some neglected, decades old Shiraz and Grenache vines back to health. Nearly lifeless and overgrown he was rewarded with a few small parcels of dry grown fruit, which he turned into wine. Contracts were then negotiated for the use of these vineyards with the individual growers, and so the old practice of share farming returned to the Valley. This secured for Torbreck a regular supply of the best Barossa Shiraz, Grenache, and Mataro (Mourvedre) vineyards containing some of the oldest vines in the world, between 120 to 160 years old. His Torbreck label, named after a forest in Scotland, where he worked as a lumberjack, debuted in 1997 with the release of a small 1995 vintage. Yields are invariably low, and the resulting wines are deeply impressive. Torbreck wines, like the Cornas, Condrieu, and Hermitage that Powell holds up as inspiration, are muscular but not beefy, pleasurable even as they lean towards profound. The wines have been praised effusively since the beginning by the world's leading wine critics and journalists and are represented on the wine lists of the world's best restaurants. In 2008 the completion of a state of the art, eco-friendly winery, packaging and administration building has meant the realization of David's goal to have all Torbreck wines produced and bottled on the estate. Torbreck remains a Barossa Valley benchmark as well as one of the world's leading wine estates.. The wine spends two years in old oak barrels, with a mix of American and French oak. Fantastic.. Medium garnet in the glass, this wine has a nose of richly oiled leather, cherry and raspberry aromas. In the mouth it is incredibly juicy with cherry, raspberry and incense flavors. Lovely supple tannins balanced by fantastic acidity make this a complex wine, with a finish that sails on for minutes. RED RHONE BLEND Wine Australian Still Wine

Scents, now five years in making, weave their charm – this aromatic quilt's first-noted brightest colours are panforte fig and quince paste alongside cured/smoked meats (pastrami?). Its fabric is meshed with spice – cinnamon, vanillin pod, nutmeg and black pepper – tempered by teppanyaki sauces, amaretto/almond. A dark thread connects – black liquorice, olive & fresh Arabica coffee-bean and soy. Background nutty oak (Brazil nut) beneath, yet barely noticed. On palate, freshness and balance are welcomed, yet confuse a few sips remind of oft-used reference ‘iron fist in a velvet glove'. All is not as it seems! This wine is from Chile, Valle De Rosario region. Established in 1999, Matetic is owned and operated by Jorge andCristian Matetic. These wines were named EQ as a tongue-incheekreminder that wines are meant to be in equilibrium. WithEQ, Jorge and Cristian produce wines that are balanced, foodfriendlyand meant for the every day.The biodynamically farmed, certified organic vineyards arelocated in Rosario Valley, a sub-appellation of the San AntonioValley, Chile. There are two distinct types of soil in the valley - onthe hillsides, thin red-brick topsoils cover a thin layer of clay anddecomposed. On the valley floor, soils have a deeper layer ofgranite and red clay that is covered by a layer of dark soils. Thefruit is hand-picked and estate bottled. Winemaker PaulaCardena Saez began as an assistant for Errazuriz and WilliamCole Vineyards. She is assisted by winemaker Julio Bastias andconsultant Ken Bernards.. The fruit was sourced from three different plots, all of which face north and are located in flat areas of the Rosario Valley. A mix of 174 and 300 clones, the vines are planted to well-draining granite and clay loam soils. The grapes were harvested during the second week of May and cold macerated for 6 days before fermentation. Remontage was used during fermentation and the wine aged in French oak barrels for 12 months before being bottled.. Dark red in color, aromas of pepper, violets, tobacco, tea, figs and blackberries precede an elegant and silky mid-palate. The wine is well-balanced, displaying firm, round tannins and a long finish.. Recommended with game meats such as veal or wild hog. Also pairs well with lamb and strongly flavored mature cheese. This wine is from United States, California region, Santa Barbara sub-region and Santa Ynez Valley appellation. In 1992, the first vines were planted at Tom Stolpman’s 220 acre estate in the hills of Ballard Canyon in Santa Ynez, California. The combination of climate which balances mid-day heat with cool foggy mornings and late afternoon ocean breezes, north-south exposure, and well drained limestone soils provides a terroir uniquely suited to growing Syrah, Sangiovese, and Roussanne. Out of 150 acres of vines planted, 100 are devoted to Syrah. Stolpman’s alliance with Domaine Rostaing in Cote Rotie emphasizes their commitment to the varietal and bridges the gap between old and new world styles. Winemaker Sashi Moorman worked as a chef and later honed his winemaking skills at Ojai Vineyards for five years before joining Stolpman in 2001. Italian wine consultant Albert Antonini has advised the Stoplmans for the past decade and is credited with persuading the them to dry farm the vineyard, despite the risk of weakening the vines. Stolpman’s climate-controlled winery in Lompoc is outfitted with state of the art winemaking equipment. White grapes are sorted and pressed, after which their juice goes straight into barrel for fermentation. Red grapes are subjected to a cryo-maceration and fermentation in either stainless steel tanks or upright French oak barrels. Cap management is conducted either by pumpovers or manual punchdowns to extract the desired color, tannin and fruit. After fermentation, the red wines are softly pressed from their skins and racked to a combination of new and neutral barrels. The wines then age to achieve the right balance of flavors and aromas. Stolpman's Ballard Canyon Estate is 100% organically farmed. SYRAH Wine California Still Wine

This wine is from United States, California region, Napa County sub-region and Napa Valley appellation. The 2006 Proprietary Red Wine, a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, has a deep ruby/purple color in a dense, full-bodied style, with plenty of creme de cassis, chocolate, espresso, and sweet toasty oak. The wine is seriously well-endowed, full, and rich. This is a beauty that should evolve for at least 20+ years. The charismatic Jayson Pahlmeyer and his exuberant winemaker, Erin Green, who apprenticed for Helen Turley for many years, are turning out some fabulous wines. I terribly underestimated their 2005 reds. However, there's always time to correct these things, and I intend to do it with the following notes.. There are 7,000 cases of the prodigious 2006 Proprietary Red Wine (a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec). Most of the fruit comes from the Stagecoach Vineyard and the Waters Ranch. Sweet, smoky, meaty aromas interwoven with melted asphalt, camphor, blackberry, cassis, and charcoal scents emerge from the complex aromatics. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied, displaying sweet tannin, a concentrated mouthfeel, and a long, heady finish with substantial fruit, glycerin, and extract. It should drink beautifully for 20+ years. Things just seem to get better and better at Pahlmeyer, a long-standing, brilliant, remarkably consistent source for one of Napa's finest Merlots, Chardonnays, and Pinot Noirs.. 15.2% abv. The 2007 Proprietary Red is at once restrained yet complex. Composed and intensely focused, it exhibits layer after layer of blackberry, cassis, anise, sweet cocoa, black cherry, blackberry preserves, extract, tar and cola. On the palate it is dense and concentrated with great weight and structure. Each layer lingers on and on. This wine is exceptional now and will only open further with time.
