The Dalton Winery was established in 1995 when the Haruni family from England settled in the green, mountainous country of Upper Galilee. The Kerem Ben Zimra and Safsufa Vineyards are located on a volcanic plateau where high altitude, optimum soil quality and a unique climate provide the ideal conditions for growing grapes in Israel. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Syrah and Shiraz, Canaan is an easy drinking, medium bodied red with sweet aromas of red and black berries. Flavors of cherry, plum, black pepper and vanilla are accented by soft tannins and a long, smooth finish. Product of Israel Alcohol by Volume: 13.5% Bottle Size: 750ml

This wine is from Israel, Judean Hills region. The 2004 Cabernet-Merlot-Shiraz is Cabernet Sauvignon dominated (56%), with the Merlot (33%) and Shiraz (11%) filling out the rest of the blend. It feels full in the mouth on first attack, but actually has an elegant mid-plate. There is a tannic grip on the finish, and the initial fruit forward presentation is deceptive, as the structure is good. It opens quickly, and the fruit is sweet and flavorful. There is a touch of herbs in the background. A tasty presentation that packs a punch, it is a short list contender for the finest value in this report. Drink now-2013. This wine is from Israel, Galilee region. The aromatic Yarden Mount Hermon Red puts an emphasis on fresh red fruits, such as raspberries and cherries, but includes hints of fresh herbs and black pepper. The flavorful medium body has firm structure with a satisfying finish. Though immediately pleasurable, one can readily enjoy Mount Hermon Red over three years from the harvest. We like Mount Hermon Red whenever we suddenly yearn for a glass of red wine and enjoy drinking it with a wide variety of foods, such as tapas, pastas and grilled meats. The Mount Hermon Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Most of the fruit came from the central Golan vineyards Yonatan, Tel Phares, Allone Habashan, Kidmat Zvi and the northern Golan vineyard Ortal. This wine is from Israel, Galilee region, Shomron sub-region. Youthful dark garnet towards royal purple, casting orange and violet reflections, a full-bodied blend of 37% Carignan, 26% Shiraz , 20% Petit Verdot and 15% Petite Sirah and 2% Viogner, each fermented separately and developed for 7 months in oak before blending and passing 8 further months in oak.. This wine is seemingly an odds-and-ends potpourri but it comes together beautifully. Deeply aromatic, on first attack so full of ripe red and black fruits and then opening to show an appealing array of blackberry, raspberry and cassis notes, those supported nicely by not-at-all imposing notes of smoky oak, black pepper and juniper berries. The wine reflects its time in oak with gentle wood influences and abundant but soft and gently caressing tannins. Round, complex and long. Score 93. K - Daniel Rogov Kosher CARIGNANE

This wine is from Australia. Red Rock Winery's Reserve Malbec reveals ripe berry and floral aromas with fresh flavors of boysenberry, currants, and cherries. The rounded tannins offer a silky mouth feel, ending in a smooth, fruit-focused finish. In order to ensure an exceptionally balanced wine, our winemakers blended a few different varietals into our Malbec to soften the tannins and add spicy and rich flavors. We take care to balance body with flavor, achieving a delicate harmony found in only the finest wines. This Malbec is an excellent match for a variety of foods including barbecued or roasted chicken, pasta or ravioli in a red meat sauce, and cheeses such as Asiago, Romano, Fontina and Gouda. This wine is from Israel, Galilee region. The 2007 Yarden Mount Hermon Red shows off bright cherry, berry and fresh ripe plum notes along with hints of blackberry jam and fresh herbs and spices. The wine's satisfying body and complexity, along with its immediate accessibility, make it a favorite everyday wine for many.Mount Hermon Red stays in good drinking shape for about three years. It is hard for us to think of food that we do not like to eat along with Mount Hermon Red. Try with Baked Fish Alla Romana (with tomatoes and herbs, we suggest using sage), or a good, crispy whole wheat thin crust pizza or some olive oil rubbed lamb chops, hot off the grill, finished with a sprinkling of coarse salt, freshly ground black pepper and a splash of lemon juice.
