Pilot Watch ? Casio has such inventive technology that it keeps them on the leading edge of watch design and the Atomic Solar Chronograph Pilot Watch is no exception. This watch uses a new technology called hybrid mount construction that improves resistance to deflection and side shifting when the watch is dropped or jarred from an impact. In other words, it is manufactured with much more shock absorption than a typical watch. In addition to its toughness Casio also added auto hand home position correction. This is an automatic feature that checks the positions of the hour, minute, and second hands every 55th minute of each hour. These are then compared to an on-chip time counter and any adjustments are made when necessary. The result is incomparable accuracy for timekeeping. Casio even put shock resistant features in the design to further toughen the watch. The bezel is actually comprised of a 2-piece shock resistant structure that further blunts external shocks. First the internal bezel is crafted from urethane that absorbs and reduces shocks to the timekeeping mechanism. Then the outer bezel is forged with stainless steel that is known for its hardness and adds to the watch protection. What?s more is that the watch band is made for strength with a very striking convex urethane and stainless steel links band. Nancy?s Notes: Powerful, leading edge features and a smart look are the reasons I like this watch. The shock resistant technology is a fantastic feature. When flying in IMC, Instrument Meteorological Conditions, (in layman?s terms the weather is poor), it can get pretty choppy in the air. Under these conditions it is not unusual to experience moderate to severe turbulence particularly when a pilot is descending through the clouds making an instrument approach to land. Having a watch that can easily handle a possible impact or jolt and still keep accurate time gives a pilot one less thing to be concerned about in less than desirable flying conditions. Wow, has this watch got style. Who says a watch full of geeky features can?t be attractive? The contrast of stainless steel with black resin makes this one good-looking watch! A powerful pilot watch with such great style that it can be worn to business meetings is what I like. Below is a listing of some of the features that make this such a desirable pilot watch for both pre-flight preparation and in-flight operation. Now it?s easy to complete a flight plan with GMT! The Altimeter Compass Pilot Watch can display 29 time zones and the time for 30 major cities around the world. Time can also be displayed in a 12 or a 24-hour format. The chronograph or stopwatch measures in 1/10th of a second. Key to every pilot maintaining their pilot log is an accurate account of the duration of flight for their logbook. For an instrument rated pilot, timing an approach is essential. Another useful feature for pilots is the Auto Light. We believe that an instrument rated pilot will find this feature invaluable. During an approach under IMC, the cockpit can be intense. Let?s say the pilot is descending through cruddy stuff and experiencing turbulence. The pilot is not going to want to take his or her hands off the controls to press a button to see the time on the watch. With the Auto Light feature, the pilot simply tilts the watch 40° from a horizontal position, and the entire watch face is illuminated making it easy to read. Thanks to the advances in the technology of Solar Power units, no battery replacement is every required with this watch! A small amount of light is all that is required to power the watch.
