ViewSonic VP2365 LED

So glad I found this monitor

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: picture quality, ergonomics, low energy consumption

Cons: none

The Bottom Line:
Highly recommended.  Everything I need in a 23" monitor and I have always been pleased with Viewsonic quality.

Author's Review
I have been using a Viewsonic VG191 (TFT active matrix) for nearly 10 years and was ready to switch to a widescreen format for a better use of real estate, newer perhaps brighter and sharper technology, and energy savings as well.  I spent a few months doing a lot of web-based research.  Unfortunately, here in Indianapolis I could find no brick and mortar shops that had the better monitors or the ability to compare between units, so I had to rely on reviews.

Ones that I considered were a Dell 2412M and a NEC MultiSync EA232.  I decided to go with the Dell though I was concerned that I had read a number of comments that the Dell coating that they use to reduce reflections with the IPS technology, was particularly aggressive and to some users quite objectionable.  Nevertheless I actually did order one but Dell so bollixed up my order that I cancelled it and ordered the Viewsonic instead (I can’t say enough bad things about having to deal with Dell).  I had been hesitant to buy the Viewsonic since I could find no professional reviews on it but the little I did read, especially here on Amazon was quite positive.  I purchased it for the IPS, the LED backlight and lower energy usage, and the great ergonomics.

So now I own the 2365 and I am thrilled.  It is bright, very bright.  I run it in the intermediate ECO mode and it is still plenty bright.  The colors look well balanced, whites are nice and white, and blacks adequately black.  It has no apparent distortions, the ergonomics are great (superb tilt, rotation, and height adjustment), the stand solid, and the adjustments work well.

I primarily use it for email, word processing, web viewing, some videos, and picture editing.  I am not a gamer and thus can’t speak to its speed for that application though its spec is 6 ms (GTG) response time which seems pretty good as specs go.  I am thoroughly pleased and couldn’t ask for more, including what to me seems like a reasonable price to pay for the extra quality and feel over the lesser $180 monitors.

By the way, it arrived almost immediately (2 days) using the standard shipping.  And now that I own it I realize this is the third Viewsonic I have now owned, beginning with a 17” CRT before my VG191, and I have been quite pleased with them all.
