Unlike conventional aviation authors and instructors I do not teach primary flying, crop dusting, pipeline patrol flying, bush flying, helicopter medical evacuation flying, and air to ground gunnery using instruments inside the aircraft as the primary situational awareness tool. Rather I teach Dutch rolls, slow flight and stalls over the runway, the energy management turns, use of ground effect on all takeoffs, the brisk walk apparent rate of closure approach, hover taxi in fixed wing aircraft, and low level low power mountain flying using sights, sounds, smells, and kinetics. Sight is used 99.9% of the time looking at the ground. Airspeed, nor any other instrument is used in takeoff or landing. This text teaches the art of flying in the old style at low level using ground references. Its author has over sixteen thousand hours of flying Army helicopters, crop dusters, and pipeline patrol airplanes at three feet to five hundred feet above ground level. Minimize

It features authentic #11 Ford Galaxie graphics and design, Ned Jarrett's custom "Candy Apple Blue" car color, burnt side exhaust pipes, a metal front grille, full interior and instrument detail, a turning steering wheel, Goodyear rubber race tires, and a dominating HM 427 c.i.d. power plant engine. Ned Jarrett was born on October 12, 1932 in Newton, NC. He was raised on a farm and worked in the fields and at his dad's sawmill. He developed an early interest in cars and competition, which led to a racing career. Ned's calm demeanor and Southern, well-mannered approach earned him the nickname "Gentlemen Ned Jarrett". Yet he was an intense competitor when he got behind the wheel of a race car. Jarrett's brief 7-year full-time tenure in NASCAR's Grand National Series (now Sprint Cup) netted him 50 wins, 239 top tens, 35 poles, and two Grand National driving titles in 1961 and 1965. 43 of his 50 wins came in Ford cars, making him the all-time leader in NASCAR in the Ford brand. Prior to embarking on the Grand National circuit, Ned won NASCAR's National Sportsmen (now Nationwide) driving title in 1957 and 1958. In 1966, Jarrett was in the running for another championship when Ford withdrew from NASCAR competition, prompting him to retire at the young age of 34...the only driver to retire while he was the reigning champion. After retiring from driving, Ned became the first driver to launch a career in broadcasting, first with Universal Racing Network, then MRN Radio where he interviewed President Reagan live at the 1984 Firecracker 400 at Daytona. He helped to pioneer TV broadcasting in NASCAR. From 1979 through 2000, he worked for CBS Sports and ESPN.
