In this tactical boardgame the players are hotel tycoons trying to get the most tourists to in their hotels. They can rebuild the city in Amsterdam in order to make the spot where they build their hotel more attractive. The 49 tiles consist of 25 building tiles each having two sides: a night and a day building + 24 canal tiles around the city. With the (white) Mayor they are able to change a coffeeshop or a night club into a decent souvenir shop or museum. The Nightwatcher can be controlled by the players and he is able to create a complete red light district or Leidseplein scattered with numerous cafes. In the game is also a memory aspect and some limited portion of luck. Hotel Amsterdam is for 2-4 players especially interesting for 2 players from 8 years and up. A game of Hotel Amsterdam usually takes between 30 - 45 minutes which is nice when you have limited time or do not want to play a too heavy game.
