Through her incomparable work on screen, stage, record, radio, and television, Judy Garland earned renown as “The World’s Greatest Entertainer.” It was as a motion picture star though, that she first rose to international fame. From her feature film debut in 1936 through the aptly titled I Could Go on Singing in 1963, she lit up the screen with a magic uniquely hers—and dazzled world-wide audiences of all ages. Judy Garland starred in two dozen of the all-time classic movie musicals, among them A Star is Born, Meet Me in St. Louis, Babes in Arms, Easter Parade, For Me and My Gal, and The Harvey Girls. Her dramatic turns in Judgment at Nuremberg, The Clock, and A Child is Waiting won added acclaim. And perhaps most unforgettably, she starred as Dorothy Gale in the best-loved motion picture of all time: The Wizard of Oz. Judy: A Legendary Film Career tells the story of Garland’s movie work in unprecedented detail. Hundreds of never-before-published photos, newly-assembled contemporary reviews, insight from her costars and coworkers, and production histories are provided for each film in which she appeared. Highlighting and complimenting the feature films is a definitive biography; an examination of Judy’s short subjects; details of the movies she did not complete; and an enthralling compendium of film projects for which she was considered or rumored. The text is illustrated by more than five hundred photos, encompassing poster art; costume tests; behind-the-scenes candids; onstage and backstage glimpses of her theatrical successes; and personal snapshots. Judy is the exhaustively researched work of historian John Fricke. He celebrates as never before the heart, humor, and incandescent motion picture achievement of the one-and-only Judy Garland.

This situation is particularly troublesome for Judy, who already has a boyfriend, "Oogie" Pringle (Scotty Beckett), Carol's brother. Meanwhile, the girls join forces for a little sleuthing when Judy discovers that her father, Melvin Foster (Wallace Beery), has been spending time with Brazilian bombshell Rosita Conchellas (Carmen Miranda). Judy and Carol suspect hanky-panky, but actually Melvin is taking dancing lessons from Rosita as a surprise for his wife. The mercurial Judy Moody will delight any kid who's known a bad mood or a bad day—and managed to laugh anyway. And, the winners of the Judy Moody All-About-Me Contest are announced! See the amazing winning and runner-up entries at http://www.fablevision.com/judymoody/winners_test.html — and find out how you can make your own All-About-Me collage."Judy Moody was in a mood. Not a good mood. A bad mood. A mad-faced mood."To start, Judy Moody doesn't have high hopes for third grade. Her new desk won't have an armadillo sticker with her name on it. Her new classroom will not have a porcupine named Roger. And with her luck, she'll get stuck sitting in the first row, where Mr. Todd will notice every time she tries to pass a note to her best friend, Rocky. An aspiring doctor, Judy does have a little brother who comes in handy for practicing medicine, a cool new pet, and a huge Band-Aid collection. Judy also has an abundance of individuality and attitude, and when Mr. Todd assigns a very special class project, she really gets a chance to express herself! Megan McDonald's spirited text and Peter Reynolds's wry illustrations combine in a feisty, funny first chapter book for every kid who has ever felt a little out of sorts.

An irresistible mixture of memoir, biography, cultural analysis, hero worship, and sequinstudded self-help that will speak to anyone who’s ever nursed an obsession. Judy Garland has been an important figure in Susie Boyt’s life since she was three years old: comforting, inspiring, and at times disturbing her. In this unique book, Boyt travels deep into the underworld of hero worship, examining our understanding of rescue, consolation, love, grief, and fame through the prism of Judy. Her journey takes in a duetting breakfast with Mickey Rooney, a munchkin luncheon, a latenight spree at the Minnesota Judy Garland Museum, and a breathless, semi-sacred encounter with Liza Minnelli. Layering key episodes from Garland’s life with defining moments from her own, Boyt explores with insight and humor what it means, exactly, to adore someone you don’t know. Does hero worship have to be a pursuit that’s low in status or can it be performed with pride and style? Are there similarities that lie at the heart of all fandom? Chronicling her obsession, Boyt illuminates her own life and perfectly distills why Judy Garland is such a legend.

The game includes two decks of topic cards, a viewer/card holder, a score card with scoring glides, a 60-second timer, a bonus number die, and very friendly instructions with great advice for being good sports. 9431D (DVD) This DVD is a non-chaptered video stream in a clear unmarked case which shows the label of the disc. This title was originally produced as a VHS tape. It has been professionally reproduced on a DVD-R disc. In this beginning tap class, Judy Ann Bassing uses seventeen young children to demonstrate the basic movements of tap. This class uses the original music by John Matthew presented on the "Tap For Toddlers" album. Judy leads the viewer through different levels of beginners and a fascinating variety of movements. The first group of kids, who are four to five years old, execute the simple combinations of movements which have only one sound. The second group, which is six and seven years old, demonstrate single sound movements which are slightly more advanced. At the end of the class everyone does a "Fun Dance". As a special treat, Judy dances a whole new routine made for very young children using steps learned in this class. The faster this routine is danced, the more difficult it becomes. This can serve as a measure of the dancer's progress.

Marcia Israel-Curley is the pioneering retail visionary behind Judy's, a fashion institution from the moment its first tiny store (7 x 12!) opened in an offbeat Los Angeles neighborhood in 1948, until it was sold in 1989, as a major public company employing more than 2000 people. It was called Judy's because the store was only wide enough for a sign with five letters, and it was the first boutique geared to clothing for young women, at a time when teenaged girls had to shop at large department stores and dress like their mothers. Marcia Israel-Curley is a remarkable role model with a wealth of experience and business acumen; her straightforward style makes her lessons for success an engaging and informative read. A lifetime of hard work and success has earned Marcia Israel-Curley many honors: in 1964 she was named Los Angeles Times Woman of the Year; the Marshall School of Business at USC designated her Entrepreneur of the Year; she chaired President Reagan's Committee for dealing with small and minority business ownership (reporting directly to the president); and she has been decorated by the U.S. Navy and the president of France. Judy's grew into a major retail conglomeration with Marcia Israel at the helm and its innovations were regularly tracked by Women's Wear Daily, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. This is the story of a business woman with vision and an uncompromising work ethic who let nothing-not even cancer-stand her in her way. A cross between cosmetic queen Mary Kay Ash's memoir, You Can Have It All, and Georgette Mosbacher's Feminine Force, Defying the Odds is a must-read for those looking for inspiration and insight into entrepreneurial success.
