Hours of fun are in store for kids who test their shape-recognition, pattern-design, and problem-solving skills with this collection of tangram puzzles. A 48-page color-illustrated book presents approximately 150 tangram puzzles plus a summary of rules for solving them and a brief history of tangrams, starting with their origin in China approximately 200 years ago. Included with the book are five sets of magnetic tangrams of varied sizes, colors, and shapes, plus a board with a metallic interior that kids can use to set up their designs and solve the puzzles. A clear vinyl pocket that's bound into the book contains the magnetic board and the seven classic Chinese tangram tiles. ... Read more
Boog (Martin Lawrence) is a 900-Lb. grizzly bear who just wants to lead the good life in the little town of Timberline - eight square meals a day, 2-ply toilet paper, and lullabies from his beloved Ranger Beth (Debra Messing). Elliot (Ashton Kutcher) is a scrawny, fast-talking outcast deer who decides to teach Boog how to be a real woodsy animal. What didn't they count on? A few little things... like psycho ducks, an army of Scottish squirrels, and most of all, the evil hunter Shaw (Gary Sinise)... and the beginning of hunting's "Open Season"! This lavishly illustrated making-of book details how "Open Season" came together, from concept to finished movie. Special attention is given to the awesome CG effects, with step-by-step procedural drawings, gorgeous finished artwork, and pages of behind-the-scenes insights and explanations from insiders at every step of the process. For anyone who loves movies, art, or animation, this book is a must-have.

In October of 1991, French artist Sophie Ristelhueber photographed the battle-scarred landscape of Kuwait following the end of the first Gulf War. The book, "Fait," which in French means fact" or "what was done," remains one of our least known but most powerful statements about the aftermath of war. "Books on Books 3" presents all 71 black-and-white and color photographs as seen in the original artist's book as it was conceived and designed by Ristelhueber. Marc Mayer of the Musee d'art contemporain de Montreal contributes an essay that discusses Ristelhueber's disturbing yet beautiful achievement."

This book features a unique approach to the teaching of mathematical logic by putting it in the context of the puzzles and paradoxes of common language and rational thought. It serves as a bridge from the author 's puzzle books to his technical writing in the fascinating field of mathematical logic. Using the logic of lying and truth-telling, the author introduces the readers to informal reasoning preparing them for the formal study of symbolic logic, from propositional logic to first-order logic, a subject that has many important applications to philosophy, mathematics, and computer science. The book includes a journey through the amazing labyrinths of infinity, which have stirred the imagination of mankind as much, if not more, than any other subject.
