The Teens At Risk series deals with powerful and relevant issues facing teenagers today. This series reveals first-hand how young people deal with and overcome the very real challenges encountered as part of their growing up. The statistics on teen depression are sobering. Studies indicate that one in five children have some sort of mental, behavioral, or emotional problem and that one in ten of these problems are serious. Among adolescents, one in eight may suffer from depression. Of all these children and teens, a mere 30% receive any sort of intervention or treatment. The other 70% simply struggle through the pain of mental illness or emotional turmoil, doing their best to make it to adulthood. The consequences of untreated depression can range from increased incidence of depression in adulthood, involvement in the criminal justice system, or in some cases, suicide. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people ages 15 to 24. Even more shocking, it is the sixth leading cause of death among children ages 5 - 14. The most troubling fact is that these struggling teens often receive no counseling, therapy or medical intervention, even though the National Institute of Mental Health reports that studies show treatments of depression in children and adolescents can be effective. This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. The Teens At Risk series deals with powerful and relevant issues facing teenagers today. This series reveals first-hand how young people deal with and overcome the very real challenges encountered as part of their growing up. In this program, you will see the struggles teens face with Bulimia Nervosa and Anorexia Nervosa from individuals that have suffered from this affliction and survived. For reasons that are unclear, some people, mainly young women, develop potentially life-threatening eating disorders called bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa. People with bulimia, known as bulimics, indulge in bingeing (episodes of eating large amounts of food) and purging (getting rid of the food by vomiting or using laxatives). People with anorexia, whom doctors sometimes call anorectics, severely limit their food intake. About half of them also have bulimia symptoms. Bulimia is also a very deadly physical illness as intentionally purging causes many debilitating effects including severe tooth erosion, tears of the esophagus, life threatening potassium imbalances and more. More than 20% die form complications relating to their eating disorders. Anorexics similarly are affected by their illnesses in many ways ranging from fatigue and lack of energy, amenorrhea (loss of menstruation), loss of bone mass and even cardiac arrest and death. This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. This classic tale of teen rebellion features a delightful combination of dance choreography and realistic, touching performances. When teenager Ren (Kevin Bacon) and his family move from big-city Chicago to a small midwestern town, he's in for a real case of culture shock. Though he tries hard to fit in, the streetwise Ren can't quite believe he's living in a place where rock music and dancing are illegal. There is one small pleasure, however: Ariel (Lori Singer), a troubled but lovely blonde who also has a jealous boyfriend. In fact, it is Ariel's dad (John Lithgow), a Bible-thumping minister, who is responsible for keeping the town dance-free. Ren and his classmates want to do away with this ordinance especially since the senior prom is around the corner but only Ren has the courage to initiate a battle. Ren's pent-up frustrations cause a confrontation with Rev. Shaw Moore and the local town council as he takes on the small-town establishment struggling to abolish the outmoded ban and revitalize the spirit of the repressed townspeople. Herb Ross's fast-paced drama is filled with such hit songs as the title track and "Let's Hear It for the Boy" and is a classic of 1980s Brat Pack cinema.

This series reveals first-hand how young people deal with and overcome the very real challenges encountered as part of their growing up. Guns at Home: The number of kids in America who live in homes where they have access to handguns is enormous. In all households with guns, 28% of them do not always keep their gun(s) locked and in a secure location where they cannot be accessed by children, and only 25% o gun-owners with children in the house "occasionally" lock and store bullets in a separate location from the gun. Guns in School: While Americans may be starting to become desensitized to school violence, the problem of guns in school persists and schools continue to be a very dangerous place for kids in America. This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Real Life Teens is an unbiased and realistic look from the perspective of teens, at the wide variety of issues teens face today featuring young teenagers telling their real stories, in their own words. The series discusses significant issues in adolescent society and cuts through many barriers with its honest and relevant advice and information. Many teens suffer emotional abuse from their peers, family and other trusted adults. Emotional abuse can be difficult to define as there may not be physical signs, however it is clear that this form of destructive behavior is based on power and control. Emotional abuse can affect a student's self-esteem and greatly impair psychological development and social interaction. It can manifest itself in social withdrawal, severe anxiety, fearfulness, depression, physical complaints, substance abuse and the inability to feel and express emotions appropriately. Emotional abuse can occur when anger goes too far or when parents or teens in relationships constantly criticize and threaten resulting in damage to self-esteem and feelings of self-worth. In this program, Teens discuss their experiences with emotional abuse, how they recognize it and the effect and consequences it has now and can have on teens throughout their lives. Interspersed with the Teen discussions are valuable insights and guidance from clinical psychologist Dr Deborah Cooper. Dr Deborah Cooper is internationally known and a highly respected expert on relationships and personal growth. Dr. Cooper is a State License Marriage Family Child Counselor (MFCC) and holds a State Teaching Credential - Psychology and Hypnosis.

The Teens At Risk series deals with powerful and relevant issues facing teenagers today. This series reveals first-hand how young people deal with and overcome the very real challenges encountered as part of their growing up. A lot of depressed people, especially teenagers, also have problems with alcohol or other drugs. Sometimes the depression comes first and people try using drugs as a way to escape. Other times, the alcohol or other drug use comes first, and depression is caused by the drug itself, the withdrawal from it or the problems that substance abuse causes. The important point is that if someone has one or both of these problems, the sooner they get help the better. Teens at Risk teaches how to be honest about both issues - showing how depressed teens can deal effectively with their illness without substance abuse and how to communicate with people who can help them get into treatment. This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE is a cult favorite on the Cartoon Network's late-night animation segment Adult Swim. The show hits the big screen with the strangely titled AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE COLON MOVIE FILM FOR THEATERS and the plot is as convoluted and nonsensical as the title. Bored and in hopes of attracting women Meatwad and Master Shake assemble their second-hand workout machine the "Insane-o-flex." Frylock steps in to help and discovers it's missing a crucial part--the power chip. They recover the chip and upon installation launch the machine into its real purpose as a killer robot. This film will be a must-see for hardcore fans of AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE as several of the sub-characters from the series appear in the film. These include the Mooninites the Plutonians MC Pee Pants and Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past from the Future. The traits of the three main characters symbolize Freud's three-part structural theory of the psyche: the Ego Super-ego and Id--and the concept works as both a feature-length film and as a fun absurd 15-minute cartoon.

The series discusses significant issues in adolescent society and cuts through many barriers with its honest and relevant advice and information. Teenage rebellion is a normal part of adolescence. One of the major developmental tasks teens face is developing independence from their parents and becoming their "own person". Transitioning from a dependent child to an independent adult not only takes time but also manifests itself in behavior patterns such as rebellion, defiance and ambivalence. Rebellion takes many forms, positive and negative and teens learn that the decisions they make for themselves have consequences. Teens will develop their own personal beliefs which will inevitably lead to some bad choices and mistakes. In this episode of Real Life Teens teens not only talk about their own experiences with rebellion, but also discuss their attitudes to rebellion, their parents, school, society and their peers. Hear from Real Teens as they discuss different aspects of Global Warming, how it's effects are being felt and their take on why society today needs to change its course. In this episode of Real Life Teens, we'll explore why it's important for teens to become involved and what teens think they can do to help manage a potential global warming catastrophe. We'll also get some eye opening insights into what teens feel about global warming, how they feel they'll be affected, whether they care or not and who they blame. We'll discover that teens think that not many people, especially teens, know exactly what Global Warming is and why it will be life changing, from consumer lifestyle to career choices and their future existence and survival as adults. Introduced and hosted by University of California Santa Cruz, Earth Scientist, Professor Travis O'Brien, teens discuss possible causes and solutions to Global Warming and why their participation in dealing with the effects of this global climate shift change is critical and necessary. Unlike some other world problems -- such as war, disease or poverty - global warming is a problem teens can start solving today.
