The Scratch Pro Ti Solid saddle from Prologo is not a name
... Read more
The Scratch Pro Ti Solid saddle from Prologo is not a name that rolls off the tongue. It probably sounds better in Italian. And you should be grateful that Prologo hasn't chosen to cram all of this saddle's attributes into one moniker, but we'll catalog the most important ones here, so you understand the key technology built into this premium perch. You can get the Scratch Pro Ti Solid in two widths: 134 and 143mm, measured at the widest part. If you're not sure which size is right, you'll want to have a (close) friend measure the protuberance of your hip bones and their width. In general, the wider this distance, the more likely you'll want the wider purchase of the 143mm model.Either way you'll benefit from Prologo's Easy Stroke Design, or ESD. Staring at the saddle from above you'll notice a very quick transition from the paddle portion to the narrower nose. That reduces weight, but more, reduces friction of your inner thigh against the saddle. Watch your peers on a group ride and you may notice some of them sliding forward toward the noses of their saddles. It's unconscious, but they're trying to reduce that inner-thigh friction. The hazard, however, is the AAAavailable in two widths, this saddle has ESD shaping for efficient pedaling and titanium rails for durability and lightnessAAA reduction of efficient power transfer and comfort. With ESD, Prologo eliminates this likelihood, as you'll be more comfortable and more likely to stay seated at the rear portion of the Scratch Pro Ti Solid. Three more comfort-focused attributes worth note: 1) The Scratch Pro Ti Solid features a carbon-fiber-injected frame with cutouts near the nose, to make that forward portion more forgiving. 2) The foam attached to the frame features varying durometers, so it's firmer for more support beneath your hips, progressively softer in the mid section, and firm again at the tip. 3) This is a rounder saddle.

The Aura Pro Aerobar from 3T tries to steal some thunder fr
... Read more
The Aura Pro Aerobar from 3T tries to steal some thunder from their Mistral Aerobar. Upon first glance, the two look similar. They both have carbon fiber base bars and alloy extensions, and they both sell for the same amount. However, if you look at the weights of the two you'll see the difference. The Aura is nearly 50g lighter. This difference is due to a simplified attachment system for the extensions. Where the Mistral has a total of 16 possible forearm positions and allows lateral and angular adjustment at the elbow base pads, the Auro Pro is more limited. The extensions have a set width at 8cm (measured center to center) and the elbow pads have a set angle. However, if it offers the right fit, saving weight is always a good thing when you want to go fast.Just like the more expensive Brezza, the Aura Aerobar has a standard round clamping surface and can be matched to any 31.8mm stem. The base bar is made of carbon fiber and has fixed mounting holes on each side for the elbow pads. The pads themselves have four sets of attachment points to offer some customization for the width. The elbow pad base, clamping hardware, and extensions are all 6061 aluminum alloy. The 3T Aura Pro Aerobar can be used with either standard road or time trial specific brake levers.

Is there a greater feeling of freedom than riding deserted singletrack after dark? The silence and the mysteries around each bend put these experiences at the top of our list of favorites. The NiteRider Pro 1500 LED Race Light makes it possible to ride at speed and in safety because its output ensures that the trail will be reliably lit.Make no mistake, the Pro 1500 LED Race Light is a heavy hitter in the illumination field. At full blast, you can count on a whopping 1500 lumens lighting your way. NiteRider has more than doubled the output from the previous year's models by partnering with Cree, specialists in LED lighting advancements, to develop a proprietary emitter for NiteRiderAAAs mega powerful, heavy duty lights. And though it packs all this power, it's still lightweight at 435 grams for the whole system. The Race model can boast such a gram conscious figure because it uses a super lightweight 4 cell Li-Ion battery. Lithium-Ion batteries have become the industry standard by virtue of their excellent energy-to-weight ratios and slow loss of charge when not in use. And with an easy 4.5 hour recharge time, you can have the light up and running again in time for the next ride. The rate at which the power of the battery is drained hinges on what setting you dictate for your beam. Since the Race version comes with three settings as well as a flash mode, you can run it at full 1500 lumens for 1.5 hours. The medium setting puts you at 900 lumens for 3 hours, while the most economical setting still gives you a more than adequate 450 lumens for 6 hours. The NiteRider PRO 1500 Race Light comes with a helmet mount and a handlebar mount which will fit bars up to 31.8mm. An extension cable is also included so that you can carry the battery in your backpack while mounting the lamp unit on your helmet.

If you do enough night-time riding to warrant investing in a serious lamp, but donAAAt want to carry around a heavy-hitter like the Pro 1500 LED Race Light, NiteRider makes the MiNewt Pro 750 Light just for you. YouAAAll be astounded at how tiny yet how powerful this system really is.NiteRider uses super efficient CREE emitters in the MiNewt Pro 750 Light. This is how they manage to create a light that pumps out 750 lumens even though it's about the size of a plum. YouAAAll be thinking to yourself that it's a plum of a light after seeing how intuitive and practical it is. The power control is located on the lamp unit rather than on the battery pack. That means you can make adjustments mid-ride without needing to stop and fumble with the battery, no matter where it's located. The MiNewt Pro 750 Light has four power settings that allow you to chose how strong you want the beam, and consequently how long you want the battery to last before needing to be recharged. At the highest 750 lumens setting, you can count on having 1.5 hours of illumination. With the lower settings you get a slightly dimmer beam, but longer run times: 2.5 hours at 500 lumens, 5 hours at 200 lumens, and 10 hours at 100 lumens. The Li-Ion battery will give you reliable and predictable run times and will take a mere three hours to recharge fully. The battery comes with an indicator so that you'll know when it's time to recharge the unit. The NiteRider smart charger will make the process a cinch. Nite Rider includes an extension cable in case you need more length between the lamp and the battery pack. The lamp unit can fit on all handlebars up to 31.8mm in diameter. Weighing in at 230 grams for the whole package, the NiteRider MiNewt Pro 750 Light is a perfect option for no-fuss, rapid mounting onto the handlebars.

The Pursuit Series is a Dual introduction, with a very unique perspective on marketing and merchandising to Pro Shops and, most importantly, to the bowling consumer! Let's talk about the product first and foremost: Core: The Pursuit S is the Symmetric version of the Pursuit core, with a Mass Bias Rating of .000 and will be named the Empire-S Core design. 1) Mass Property Modulation Core Design - This allows Pro Shop Technicians the opportunity to change Mass Bias properties in the drilling process to match the shape the bowler is looking for on the lane. 2) Advanced Drilling Stability - As a result of the unique shape of the Empire core, you will change the values of RG and Differential at the same rate when drilling. Cover: This is the most exciting part of the new Pursuit Series, the new chemistry! When discussing the Ebonite Brand, there are a few known qualities . . . the large negative quality the brand has had to deal with for years is longevity. We have a few items that we know will positively address this: 1) Chemically Treated Surface - As each Pursuit ball makes its way off of the finish line, each ball is treated chemically in order to open the pores and achieve optimal performance. 2) Ultra Robust Surfacing - Through the testing phase, we worked on multiple surface options that would allow the Pursuit balls to maintain length, but still offer strong backend continuation. The best possible surface that we tested is 800 Abralon and 1500 Abranet. 3) Hyper Branched MDI Technology - This new cover system offers more performance, longer than any other industry MDI covers currently used. 4) All New Components - The Ebonite Pursuit Product Line is using materials that NO OTHER BOWLING BALLS are currently using! Concept: In bowling, we all know that there are bowlers that are able to take advantage of the latest and greatest cores each Brand releases to the market. At Ebonite, we have long been known for developing some of the very best cores the industry has ever used . . . but, as we all know, the cover is the most important part of the equation when we talk about creating ball motion. With Rev Rates of some players being so high, they really have been a segment of the market that has been neglected. That is where the Pursuit-S comes into play! Finally, Players that have High Rev Rates have a ball with the absolute latest cover technology! So, if you are a Coast to Coast bowler the Ebonite Pursuit-S will offer you the absolute best performance in the market to date!Product Type: Bowling Balls

But PRO didn't stop there; it also included internal gear and brake cable routing along with twist-lock adjusters that enable precise setting of the bar extensions. The CycleOps SuperMagneto Pro is an ideal indoor trainer for the multiple-cyclist household. The Flexible Power Curve Technology offers four distinctly different power curves by changing the location of the four resistance magnets; as they move away from the trainer's axis, resistance increases. "Easy" allows you to warm up before a workout. The "Road" setting offers a sharper resistance curve to more convincingly mimic road conditions. The "Interval" setting features a sharp contrast in resistance between low and high speeds, making intervals harder and recovery easier. "Mountain" simulates riding a World Cup course with the resistance of steep, high wattage climbs followed by the skill-focused recovery of a descent. Each flywheel is individually balanced for reduced bearing wear and concentrates its mass at the flywheel's outer edge to maximize inertia; a pause in your pedal stroke won't cause the unit to come to a stop. With the Pro Series frame you get a wider base to back up your biggest efforts, the ability to level the unit, one-sided installation for quick set up and removal and includes the Realrides Race Day DVD. The CycleOps SuperMagneto Pro is foldable for easy storage.

Who can forget stage 9 of the 2011 Tour de France as we watched horrifying imagery of Vacansoleil-DCM's Johnny Hoogerland as his breakaway companion Juan-Antonio Flecha was struck by a French media car, launching Hoogerland into a barbed wire fence at roadside. The disturbing video still induces cringes every time we watch it. While he would later need 33 stitches to close the gashes he sustained, team doctors patched him up as best they could at the scene, and put him back on the Ridley Helium he'd just crashed. Surprisingly, it was hardly worse for wear. He finished the stage, riding into the Polka Dot jersey and into the storied annals of Tour hardmen. It's nothing short of a miracle that Hoogerland's racing career didn't end in that gruesome moment, but also pretty spectacular that despite the Helium being Ridley's lightest bike, it is also their most battle-hardened, having endured punishment on the cobbles and hors categorie climbs all across Europe. It is a shining example of carbon fiber's supreme durability and longevity in the hands of intelligent design. The Helium tips the scales just over 900 grams, which is less than that of Ridley's pave-flagship Excalibur. This is accomplished through its use of superior grades of carbon fiber. The Helium uses 30-ton carbon with areas of 40-ton and 50-ton reinforcements (in comparison to the 24-ton carbon used on the Excalibur.) By using higher-grade carbon, Ridley can use less carbon in the production process, netting a lower frame weight. The Helium also utilizes full carbon dropouts and doesn't use any aluminum in the head tube bearing races to reduce weight further. And when you factor in the detail that you need to use a conventional seatpost on an Excalibur, but you don't on a Helium, the real net difference in weight is well over a half-pound . Unlike the Excalibur, the Helium features an integrated seatmast design akin to the super-aero Ridley Noah.

The Excalibur is Ridley's best-selling race frame for good
... Read more
The Excalibur is Ridley's best-selling race frame for good reason. Some of it is self-evident: At 1100 grams, it's second only to the Helium in Ridley's spectrum of lightness. This is because the Helium uses higher grade carbon fiber (and therefore less of it) netting a lower weight, while the Excalibur relies on 24 ton material with 30 ton reinforcements in the high stress areas of the frame. This is where the cost savings are derived, but don't think that you'll sacrifice stiffness or performance one bit. And, like the Helium, the Excalibur utilizes full carbon dropouts and head tube to reduce weight even further. Unlike the triangulated "Sharp Edge Design" you find on the Damocles, or the super-aero tubes of the Noah, the Excalibur is built with oversized round tubes. Here's a good tip: If you're interested in assessing the likely torsional stiffness of a frame without even riding it, inspect the girth of its tubing and junctures -- larger diameter tubes resist deflection better than small. Then take a long look at the headtube/down tube juncture and the down tube/BB juncture of the Excalibur and utter a big "WOW." You'll verify this stiffness under power on the first ride as the Excalibur leaps with every pedal stroke. While you might look at the Excalibur and think it's a mere kermesse bike -- the sort of "grip it and rip it" rocketship suited for little more than the warp speed circuit races so popular throughout Ridley's homeland of Belgium, think again. It was the team bike of the UCI Continental Pro Team Unibet. Unibet riders cracked the top-20 in 6+ hour epics such as the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, as well as a host of other rough-and-tumble spring classics on the worst roads of Belgium and northern France. Team Unibet knew the secret of the Excalibur: Its oversized tubing gives it top fuel racer-like acceleration and resistance to flex, but it won't brutalize you when you head out the door for a 5-hour cruise in your 53x19.

We've come a long way from the Giro "ice chest" aero helmet that Greg Lemond wore when he rode to a last stage upset of Laurent Fignon in the '89 Tour. In a similar twist of the general classification, Levi Leipheimer overcame a two minute deficit coming into a last stage time trial to leapfrog up the standings to win his first Tour de Suisse in 2011. He did this while wearing the Giro Selector Helmet. It's the successor to the longstanding benchmark for aero helmets, the Giro Advantage. As you might expect, Giro has used wind tunnel data to sculpt the new helmet to make it slicker and faster than the Advantage. And for most riders, a sleek helmet will do as much or more for lessening the overall drag coefficient as any other static change you could make to your bike or personal gear. The Selector has two significant upgrades that not only make it your best choice for aerodynamics, but that necessitated changes to help make it more comfortable as well. The first thing you'll notice is that it's the first Giro helmet with an eyeshield. Its strict purpose is to further enhance the aero properties of the helmet by smoothing the leading surface. Another tangible benefit you'll realize is a quieter experience as you ride. If nothing else, we've found that this perception of less wind noise acts as a placebo -- less noise, less resistance, more speed, etc. It's removable if you prefer to wear sunglasses, however. The lens also has two vents, located on either side of the centerline at the top edge. They minimize the chance for fogging on humid days, and they duct a sizeable volume of cooling air to flow over the head and out the twin exhaust ports in the tail of the helmet. The back of the helmet is where you'll find the other big changes. Where the Advantage had a tail that was open on the underside, the Selector Helmet is closed, akin to a belly pan on an F1 car.
