When a ski company claims that it made a ski for all abilities, the response from seasoned skiers is often something along the lines of "Dudes, you can't fool all the people all the time." But K2's new all-mountain Apache Interceptor offers performance features that offer something for everyone. Granted, if you're an acrophobic beginner who wants a slow ski, the Interceptor will feel too fast, and if you're a high-energy expert skier with a penchant for pushing fast-twitch muscles to extremes, the Interceptor won't meet your expectations. But if you're like most skiers who want a balance of performance features, easy-turning characteristics and a heaping helping of predictable stability, this versatile ski is probably everything you want in an all-mountain ski. It easily rips groomed runs and blasts through broken snow, and the K2 MOD technology dampens vibration and chatter so you can push this ski without feeling like you're exceeding the design specs. Inside the Apache Interceptor is a triaxially braided glass configuration around the lively fir and aspen wood core, giving the ski exceptional rebound and response. While K2's torsion box design has been around for a number of years, it remains one of the best (and critically-acclaimed) ski construction techniques because of performance and versatility. Another performance enhancement is K2's MOD Technology, a secondary core that's independent of the fir and aspen core. MOD Technology dampens vibrations without messing with the ski's overall flex. This improves the ski-to-snow contact while reducing the bouncing chatter. The result is a smoother ride that carries through a range of terrain with predictable consistency. That little X-shaped device on the ski is K2's MOD Monic device. It's made from solid zinc and attached to the MOD secondary core to focus mass dampening at key points along the ski where chatter and vibrations happen most. While other ski manufacturers usually pile on heavy components to dampen vibr

It didn't take loads of market research or the hiring of expensive consultants for Moment to figure out how to update its Tahoe Ski for 2011/12; after all, this ski has been 95-percent dialed for years. Keeping the stable yet nimble 96mm underfoot, twin-tip profile, and progressive sidecut from previous models, all Moment had to do to take the Tahoe from icon to legend was add dash of rocker. And now that that's been done, all that's left for you to do is A) get your hands on this mid-fat plank and B) put the hurt on choppy chutes, middle-sized drops, and those untouched lines through the trees.

You asked for it and we brought it back. Just like it's predecessor, this ski has the torsional strength and durability to withstand the toughest of landings, and the confidence and stability to rip any terrain, but its twin tip enables you to ride and land switch with ease. If the mountain backcountry is your playground, these Head Women's Sweet Fat Thang Skis are essential freeride skis. Freeride or freeskiing skis are specifically created for backcountry challenges and perform more better in untouched snow than traditional skis designed for groomed corduroy runs. These freeride skis feature center widths that are more generous than most downhill skis, so you experience enhanced floatation in knee-deep conditions. The ski tips are specifically elevated for enhanced maneuverability in broken and pristine snow. The Head Women's Sweet Fat Thang Skis also features vibration-dampening elements to absorb the vibrations occasionally encountered while skiing on frosty terrain at substantial velocities.

If you like to sleep in on snow days but still want performance on all sides of the mountain, the K2 Apache Crossfire with new Marker MX 12.0 is your ride. K2 designed it for skiers who want to make fast turns on corduroy but take to the backcountry whenever the runs are overrun by the masses. It's a sophisticated performance design that's smooth and stable on groomed runs and busted crud, but it still carves better than most utility all-mountain skis that never live up to the marketing department claims. Over the last couple of seasons we found that the Apache Crossfire is a great design for guys who mix GS terrain with short and sweet slalom turns. K2 used a Titan metal laminate construction that incorporates perforated titanium sheet over a light and lively aspen and fir core. When mixing first tracks with established inbound runs, K2's Mod Technology dampens vibration and minimizes ski chatter at speed. K2 compares Mod Technology to shock absorbers in an off-road car. It's an "elastomeric secondary core" that's independent of the wood core that dampens vibrations without taking anything away from the overall ski flex. Combine this with the weighted Mod Monic on the ski and you'll find that the Crossfire has excellent contact with the snow and crud, so you are more apt to initiate turns exactly where you want. This season K2 integrated the Crossfire with the Marker MX 12.0 Binding. It's an entirely new binding system for unsurpassed power transmission between your boots and these skis. K2 and Marker accomplished this by creating a wider contact area across the binding interface, so you enjoy more response with less effort. These new refinements include Marker's Inter-Pivot Heel technology that extends the wider, 50-mm. footprint toward the ski edges. Marker also established tighter tolerances in all of their MX bindings, so you can feel more of the snow surface much like a high-end sports car lets you feel every undulation in a track surface. Marker's MX systems
