The second disc isn't so shy, though the Ibiza sheen gets a little glossy. If there's one thing this DJ can do, it's convincingly integrate a distinctive vocal ("Silence," anyone?), and his collaboration with Aqualung's Matt Hales on "UR" is no exception. Needless to say, these aren’t the same things that other students look for, and I realize now that these factors are not the most important things about Emerson College (especially because I switched from journalism to writing, literature, and publishing before even taking a journalism class).The qualities about Emerson that have turned out to be the most important and worthwhile parts of the school are the students that I met here, the professors who became my friends and have helped me immeasurably, and the opportunities to get experience in my desired career field. These are the qualities about Emerson that make it one-of-a-kind, and make its students proud of their years spent here. Emerson is changing and growing. The school is relocating the dorms from one side of the Boston Common to the other. Emerson is building new facilities for growing classes, and most importantly, Emerson is preparing its students for a changing job market. The school has begun increasing its admission standards and breadth of offered classes. This is a great time to begin school at Emerson. As the College continues to grow, the opportunities for learning and grabbing internships grow as well. If you’ve gotten this far in your college search, you probably already know that Emerson is a communications and performing arts school. Introduction from the Author A school search is typically a source of anxiety, as the eager high-school student tries to reconcile both a dizzying amount of statistics and the unquantifiable feelings each campus triggers. I remember a particular trip I took with my parents: six schools in seven days! I loved three of them, liked two, and categorically refused to set foot on the sixth after only a glance. Who knows why some campuses strike us the way they do? It is my hope that this guide will inform you as you try to make your choice. Although campus visits are wonderful, they’re only a day or two, so it is impossible to really get at the heart of a school. The essence of Franklin & Marshall College is that its students care about their studies, but more importantly, they care about the citizens that they will become. Caring, involved, and enthusiastic, F&M students spend their four (or three and a half to five) years in Lancaster, on that 170-acre piece of paradise in the middle of a city, learning how to teach themselves, once they graduate, by the example set by their professors. The students are valued members of a community, prized for their knowledge and hard work, and they’re given almost infinite scope for their drive, enthusiasm, and determination to succeed. But their ambition doesn’t have the hypercompetitive drive of an MIT or University of Chicago. Instead, F&M students come to themselves amidst a welcoming, vibrant community of peers, both fellow students and faculty. Students do research, both original and as contributors to larger studies, perform experiments, put on shows, and learn to think, write, and create.!
