Seven Forests Epimedium 8 Epimedium 8, also known as Wen Yang Pian, warms yang. What it is best for: Allergies- Seasonal Cold-Feeling Cold-Lower Body Hormone Levels- Low Upper Body- Warm Epimedium 8 helps with these Chinese Medicine patterns: Yang-Deficient Epimedium 8 general notes Epimedium 8 is based on a modern Chinese formula called Wenyang Tang (Warm the Kidney Yang Decoction), also known as the kidney reinforcing regimen. It has been shown to help prevent seasonal support the respiratory system attacks, normalize adrenal production of corticosteroids, and positively affect hormone receptors in aged persons. From the traditional point of view, this is a modification of Rehmannia Eight Combination (Jingui Shenqi Wan) and the Pill of Right Restoration (Yougui Wan) retaining the common base ingredients rehmannia, dioscorea, and aconite. Here epimedium and psoralea are used to tonify kidney yang in place of the cinnamon bark used in the original formulas. Cuscuta, an ingredient of Yougui Wan, is used as the essence astringent in place of cornus ophiopogon is used to nourish the yin in balancing the warming yang tonics. Epimedium with ophiopogon helps strengthen the lungs in Cordyceps 9, a similar strategy is applied using epimedium and asparagus ophiopogon and asparagus are closely related botanically and have similar properties. The small dose of citrus is added to aid in digestion of the rich tonics. Some concern is often raised by practitioners about kidney warming therapies: do they tend to cause the person to become overheated? In most cases, this will not be a problem because significant yang deficiency leads to "floating yang", a condition that produces heat symptoms in the upper body (usually with cold in the lower body) by using an appropriate yang tonic formula, the yang is rooted in the kidney and does not produce heat symptoms (in fact, some deficiency heat symptoms are thereby relieved). Epimedium 8 by Seven Forests contains these ingredients: Pin Yin English Percentage Yin Yang Huo Epimedium 18% Shu Di Huang Rehmannia (Cooked) 18% Shan Yao Dioscorea 15% Bu Gu Zhi Psoralea 14% Tu Si Zi Cuscuta Seed 14% Fu Zi Aconite (double process) 9% Mai Men Dong Ophiopogon 9% Chen Pi (Ju Pi) Citrus Peel 3% How you use it: 2-3 tablets, three times a day.

Seven Forests Reconciling Name: Reconciling Tablets Reconciling Tablets is also known as: An Dou Pian Unit Size: 250 tabs Vendor: Institute of Traditional Medicine Product Line: Seven Forests Manufacturing Process: powder : steam cooked (non-conc Dosage: 2-3 tabs : 3x/day Reconciling Tablets helps with Maintain healthy Immune Function Reconciling helps with these conditions clear heat clean toxin vitalise blood nourish kidney and liver Reconciling general notes Reconciling Tablets (formerly, Lithospermum 15) was produced as the result of study of traditional Chinese approaches to treating autoimmune disorders, especially those that cause inflammation. Although there are several strategies that have been applied, the main trends are to nourish the kidney and liver in order to stabilize the immune system, vitalize blood to reduce accumulation of immune cells, and clear heat to reduce inflammation and avert tissue damage. This formula contains the kidney/liver tonics cistanche, rehmannia, ligustrum, epimedium, and achyranthes the blood vitalizing component is salvia and red peony, with achyranthes contributing to that function and the heat clearing component is chin-chiu, ching-hao, lonicera stem, moutan, and anemarrhena. Several of the herbs, particularly chin-chiu and ching-hao have been shown to regulate immune functions in autoimmune diseases they enhance the suppressor T-cell functions and inhibit antibody excess. Rehmannia, anemarrhena, and licorice allow steroids (whether produced by the body or added as a drug therapy) to persist longer in the bloodstream, and, thereby, have a more sustained effect. Reconciling Tablets can usually serve as a base formula for various autoimmune diseases, with an adjunct therapy added to treat the specific manifestation of the disease. For autoimmune disorders that have a quiescent (remission) phase interrupted by inflammatory phase, Reconciling Tablets can be used during the flare-ups, with other formulas, such as Remission Pills (for regulating internal disharmony) or Restorative Tablets (for tonifying liver/kidney deficiency), used the rest of the time. The formula is a derivative of the traditional formula Yougui Wan (Pill of Right Restoration) and several patent remedies for yang deficiency, such as Duhong Butian Su (Eucommia Tonify Heaven Extract) and Gejie Dabu Wan (Gecko Great Tonifying Pill). In common with the therapeutic approach of these formulas, there are multiple herbs having an overlapping property. Eucommia 18 includes 6 yang tonic herbs: eucommia, morinda, dipsacus, cistanche, drynaria, and epimedium and, as a balance, it includes a small amount of three yin nourishing herbs rehmannia, lycium fruit, and ligustrum. There are some herbs to benefit the spleen: ginseng, atractylodes, hoelen, and astragalus they help produce blood and essence by extracting the qi from food. The blood is nourished also by achyranthes and tang kuei. While some yang tonic formulas may be considered invigorating (eg, Mans Treasure, Gecko A) or warming (eg Dry Ginger Tablets, Drynaria 12), this one is better suited for long-term treatment of yang deficiency, providing a harmonious and broad-based tonic action that is gentle in nature. In cases where the symptoms of yang deficiency are substantial, one might begin therapy with a smaller kidney tonic prescription, such as Epimedium 8 or Drynaria 12), this one is better suited for long-term treatment of yang deficiency, providing a harmonious and broad-based tonic action that is gentle in nature. Seven Forests Gecko-A Gecko-A, also known as Ge Jie Huang Qi Pian, invigorates yang, nourishes essence, and tonifies Qi. What it is best for: Gecko-A may be helpful for the following: Back-Pain Difficulty breathing, dry cough Fatigue-Taxation Fatigue Supports normal erectile function Shortness of breathe, difficulty breathing Gecko-A helps with these Chinese Medicine patterns Yang-Deficient Gecko-A general notes Gecko A is based on the well-known patent formula Gejie Bushen Wan (Gecko Kidney Nourishing Pills). The key ingredients are gecko and deer antler (the "A" is for antler) which invigorate the yang and are applicable to cases of fatigue from overwork or other stresses. The formula is also suitable for treatment of lung disorders, Â and cordyceps are often used for that purpose (see Perilla Seed Tablets and Ding Chuan Wan, Pine Mountain), but deer antler is also considered effective. Gecko A includes qi tonics (ginseng, dioscorea, atractylodes, licorice), yang tonics (eucommia, epimedium, antler, gecko) and yin nourishing agents (rehmannia, lycium fruit). There is evidence from Chinese studies that formulas such as this have the capability of enhancing production of hormones, especially adrenal hormones individual ingredients have been shown to have these effects, including gecko, antler, ginseng, and epimedium. A related formula is Epimedium 8, which is used for warming the yang, but not focused on tonifying qi. Gecko A is particularly useful for initial treatment of syndromes involving fatigue and yang deficiency. In general, a treatment pattern progresses from smaller formulas focused on stimulating the yang (8-12 ingredients as in Antler 8, Epimedium 8 and Gecko A) to broad, gentle formulas (eg 18 ingredients or more, as in Ganoderma 18 or Composition A for nurturing all essences and all organs) for constitutional therapy to be pursued over a longer period. It is derived from Two Immortals Decoction (Erxian Tang), by replacing phellodendron in that formula with rehmannia and lycium bark to treat deficiency heat of the kidney. Haliotis 10 is aimed at balancing upper warmer heat and lower warmer cold. Haliotis, anemarrhena, lycium bark, and zizyphus control the emotional agitation, sweating, and hot flashes associated with heat of the heart and liver they settle rising yang, nourish the liver, and clear deficiency heat. Epimedium, morinda, and curculigo tonify the kidney yang yang deficiency sometimes accompanies the yin and essence deficiency syndrome of menopause and can lead to "floating yang", a condition of heat rising upward, with coldness of the lower body, including low libido, cold feet, and back ache. (see Epimedium and Curculigo Combination Modern Formulas). This formula can also be used for chronic fatigue syndrome in persons who suffer from mental agitation, insomnia, and other symptoms that are somewhat like those experienced during menopause that are accompanied by fatigue (in men or women). Iridoid complex (White Tiger) can be used in conjunction with Haliotis 10 to provide the active constituents of the kidney/liver nourishing herbs, such as rehmannia and cornus, found in many traditional formulas for menopause. Seven Forests Ganoderma 18 Ganoderma 18, also known as Sheng Mai Pian, tonifies Qi and yang and nourishes blood and yin. What it is best for: Ganoderma 18 may be helpful for the following: Post- Injury Weakness Post-Illness-Weakness Postpartum-Weakness Post-surgical-Weakness Chinese Therapeutic Effects: Tonify Qi and Yang Nourish Blood and Yin Ganoderma 18 helps with these conditions tonify qi ad yang nourish blood and yin Ganoderma 18 general notes Ganoderma 18 is a general tonic prescription, intended for those who suffer deficiencies of all basic essences (qi, blood, yin, yang), and who may have weakness of several or all organ systems. Such broadly defined patterns may arise from the impact of serious illness, side effects of toxic drug therapies, or debility with aging. However, one can use this formula as a general tonic without having to suffer from substantial health problems for example, it can be taken to recover from stressful events, for weak immune functions leading to frequent infections, and for treating mild fatigue. The formula is based on the traditional Ginseng Nutritive Combination (Renshen Yangrong Tang), a formula with similar purpose. The unique feature of Ganoderma 18 is the addition of kidney essence tonics: ganoderma, the general tonic herb, with three yang tonics (eucommia, cistanche, epimedium) and three yin/blood tonics (ligustrum, ho shou wu, lycium fruit). Although ganoderma has been known and respected since ancient times, it was always quite rare and therefore not included in widely-used formulas until very recently, when cultivation methods had been developed. This formula is similar to the well-known patent remedy Gejie Dabu Wan (Gecko Great Tonifying Pills), with ganoderma replacing gecko. Unlike Composition A, which is also aimed at nourishing all organ systems, this formula does not have a specific focus on immune-based disorders, but, instead, on physical debility. What it is best for: Mans Treasure may be helpful for the following: Aging Back-Pain Chills Supports normal male fertility Fatigue Supports normal erectile function Chinese Therapeutic Effects: Tonify Yang Tonify Qi Astringe Essence Mans Treasure general notes Man's Treasure was devised after an extensive review of formulas used to support normal male fertility and erectile function. The patent remedies available in China are of interest in this regard because the Chinese have long produced over-the-counter remedies for abnormal erectile function, especially for lowered sexual response associated with aging. Examples are Haima Bushen Wan (Seahorse Kidney Tonifying Pills) and Hailong Bu Wan (Pipefish Tonic Pills), as well as this formula's namesake, Nao Bao (Man's Treasure). Each of the formulas is comprised of a large number of yang tonic herbs. Man's Treasure includes the yang tonics cistanche, morinda, cuscuta, astragalus seed, cynamorium, epimedium, psoralea, and allium seed. Modern studies have shown that this type of formula strengthens and supports blood flow to the ovaries. Fertile Tonic should be taken from the onset of pregnancy to the end of the first trimester. Â The traditional Chinese concept of the liver does not correlate completely with the modern western concept. In Chinese medicine it stores the blood which is responsible for the nourishment of tendons, the eyes, and the skin. Liver blood deficiency is not equivalent to abnormal blood function, but has some shared characteristics. What it is best for: Fertile Tonic addresses the patterns of Liver Blood Deficiency and Kidney Deficiency, symptoms are: Irregular menstruation Deficient ovaries Pale, dry, brittle nails Low back pain Fatigue Numb limbs or chronic muscle cramps Night vision diminished (trouble driving at night) Dizzy and fatigued around menses Why it works: In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), when you bleed, you are most deficient and vulnerable. It is extremely important to nourish the blood not only while you are bleeding but also immediately when the growth of Yin takes place. Body energy needs to move freely for this to happen. When energy does not move freely, stagnation occurs. Since the energy of the kidney system is particularly important to reproduction. The herbs in Fertile Tonic by Blue Light: tonify kidney and liver replenish jing and blood. Ingredients Bai Shao, also known as White Peony: Relaxes Spasm of Tendons Subdues Liver yang Rising Relieves Pain Softens the Liver Astringes Yin of the Liver Nourishes Blood Helpful for irregular menstruation due to Blood deficiency. ... Read more
Ling Shu or Miraculous Pivot is Huangdi Neijing combined with Su Wen in a single volume. Ling Shu covers Meridians, acupuncture points, and acupuncture techniques comprehensively and in great detail; thus it has laid a solid foundation for clinical acupuncture theory. Since the advent of Ling Shu , many authors had contributed important interpretation of the original text for others to understand. Some of these famous authors included Dr.Yang Shangshan (AD 618) ; Dr Zhang Jiebin (AD 1368), Dr Ma Shi (AD 1368), and Dr Zhang Zhicong (AD 1688). However, due to the complexity and the depth of the original Ling Shu text, there were great discrepancies among the interpretations from different authors. This caused much confusion for the beginning students of Acupuncture in trying to understand the text of Ling Shu , and this confusion made the practice of Ling Shu in a clinical setting impossible. In fact, in these past 2000 years, the research done on Ling Shu centered purely on the theoretical side; the application of it in a clinical environment was virtually non-existent. This book, Ling Shu Acupuncture , is the first of its kind to present acupuncture theory from the clinical viewpoint by connecting the contents of both volumes of Huangdi Neijing and has reorganized the acupuncture theories of both volumes under different subject discussions. These subjects include how to differentiate the imbalance of Yin/Yang by pulse diagnosis? How many acupuncture points will be selected? What is the frequency of treatment for the dysfunctions of different Meridians? What are the groups of acupuncture points that can be applied for the dysfunctions of Zang-Fu organs only? What is the proper depth of puncturing according to the different seasons of the year? What is the proper timing for removing the needle? How to observe the result of sedation or reinforcement objectively? What is forbidden in acupuncture, and the harms that can occur in case of acupuncture malpractice? These subjects will enable the acupuncturist to clearly understand the crux of the theory and will ultimately enable the acupuncturist to utilize the theory in diagnosis and treatment of patients under a practical, clinical setting. Ling Shu Acupuncture is also the first of its kind to cover over 2000 years of Acupuncture history in its comprehensively detailed discussion and analysis of acupuncture classic books and modern acupuncture theories written after the publication of Ling Shu . These discussions are conducted based on the contents of Ling Shu itself. From these discussions, one can see that Acupuncture has deviated from the original principle of Ling Shu , and has been conducted through wrong theories throughout the years. The result is the poor practice of Acupuncture since. In order to accurately convey the ideal of the original text of Ling Shu , Ling Shu Acupuncture has painstakingly pursued three methods in delivering the meaning of the original text to the reader. First, in the analysis of the original text, Ling Shu Acupuncture utilizes the text before, the text after, and the central idea of the chapter in conjunction with the related text of the other chapters to explain the section of the text in question so as to reach the goal of using Ling Shu to explain Ling Shu . Secondly, Ling Shu Acupuncture is based on the principle of the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine when it comes to the different interpretations of Ling Shu authored before. Lastly, the theory of Ling Shu has been tested extensively during the past five years in clinical settings.

The desired effects are attained by nourishing the kidney essence, promoting spleen functions, nourishing blood, protecting the liver, enhancing blood circulation, and opening the orifices. Eleuthero is a new addition to the Materia Medica that is used for invigorating the organ functions and polygonatum is a qi tonic that also nourishes the essences (it has a moistening nature similar to rehmannia). Most of the other herbs of the formula support these two in nourishing the kidney and liver and tonifying spleen qi. Several herbs were selected for their ability to provide multiple functions relevant to the basic treatment strategy. Hence, for example, cornus and cuscuta nourish the kidney and liver and also serve as astringents to prevent further depletion of essence crataegus invigorates blood circulation, lowers blood lipids, and aids digestion of foods broussonetia is used to treat blood deficiency, weakness of the lower body, and cloudy vision lycium fruit also aids vision. A group of elderly Japanese, members of the White Crane Society in Chicago, tried out Eleuthero 10+ for several weeks and reported numerous benefits, including improved energy, better sleep, and normalisation of digestive functions and bowel conditions. Epimedium 8 (prescription only) may be used as an alternative formulation for persons with obvious yang deficiency, especially when there are seasonal allergies or repetitive inflammatory disorder. These formulas all treat cough and other lung disorders in which there is accumulation of sputum (as opposed to dry cough see Lily 14). The formula ventilates the lungs (platycodon, apricot seed, magnolia bark), clears phlegm (pinellia, citrus fritillaria, bamboo, sinapis, raphanus), and alleviates coughing (perilla fruit, morus bark, schizandra). Pinellia 16 can serve as a constitutional formula for persons who chronically or repeatedly have an excess of phlegm. Unlike some of the other formulas for support the respiratory systemtic breathing due to deficiency (eg Gecko A, Epimedium 8, Cordyceps 9), this formula does not include kidney tonic herbs these formulas could be added to Pinellia 16 when kidney yang deficiency contributes to the syndrome. When phlegm excess is due to improper diet and weak function of stomach/spleen, one may add digestive formulas (see Shen Chu 16). If there is infection, Belamcanda 15, Stemona Tablets, or Trichosanthes Fruit Tablets could be used instead or added. Seven Forests Reconciling Name: Reconciling Tablets Reconciling Tablets is also known as: An Dou Pian Unit Size: 100 tabs Vendor: Institute of Traditional Medicine Product Line: Seven Forests Manufacturing Process: powder : steam cooked (non-conc Dosage: 2-3 tabs : 3x/day Reconciling Tablets helps with Maintain healthy immune function Reconciling helps with these conditions clear heat clean toxin vitalise blood nourish kidney and liver Reconciling general notes Reconciling Tablets (formerly, Lithospermum 15) was produced as the result of study of traditional Chinese approaches to treating autoimmune disorders, especially those that cause inflammation. While ancient concepts of yin and yang and meridians have been effective for sustaining traditional knowledge of acupuncture, contemporary clinicians need a more scientific structure to apply these complex teachings. A book that examines this Eastern medicine through the systematic principles of anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry is long overdue.Addressing acupuncture from a unique perspective, Acupuncture: An Anatomical Approach abandons the traditional Oriental medicine approach in favor of a more analytical scientific presentation. This innovative book describes the progression of chronic pain in the peripheral nervous system, demonstrating that points conducting pain impulses through the peripheral nerves become more tender to palpation throughout life in response to episodes of pain, and this happens in a predictable sequence. This sequence, expressed as a "pain quantification," has important prognostic significance to the person's response to acupuncture, as well as other treatments. The author has diminished the metaphysical aura of classical acupuncture and reinvented it as a medical science. This original contribution adds new knowledge to the understanding of the progression of pain throughout a person's lifetime.
