The ZVex Mastotron Effects Pedal, another in the Vextron se
... Read more
The ZVex Mastotron Effects Pedal, another in the Vextron series, is a heavy silicon-based fuzz pedal with a lot of controlsvolume, tone, pulse width, fuzz, and relax/push. The relax/push controls the input impedance to the pedal. The guitar effects pedal knobs let you adjust for quieter pickups, or softer guitars, and turn it towards the relax setting as you put in active pickups, and turn it all the way to the relax setting for special effects and for line-level signals if you are re-amping a bass off a recorded track. The Mastotron's fuzz control is a wide control over the fuzz depth. Pulse width control goes from a narrow pulse all the way to a nearly square wave pulse. The tone control shaves off the high end. A sub switch lets you set how many subs you have with a "2-1-3" arrangement while the dedicated volume knob controls how loud the guitar pedal gets. Plug your guitar (or any effect's output) into the input jack. Plug the output into an amp or other effect's input. Set the amp for a warm clean tone on bypass. Turn on the pedal and rock out. Using a guitar or bass, turn the Relax/Push knob down a bit if you need to until the fuzz sounds immediate and tight. Turn the Vextron Mastotron's fuzz control until you're happy, and set the PW to square (counter-clockwise). Adjust the tone for the treble amount you want, and use the sub switch on 3 for full heavy subs for bass or 2 if the subs are overloading your amp.Set your amp on your favorite clean tone for the most blistering results, while a distorted sound can be very cool as well. Play it into your favorite distortion pedals or direct into the amp for different textures. Try putting weird effects into the ZVex Mastotron pedal and adjust the Relax/Push knob for best interfacing. If the performance of your fuzz pedal seems diminished or the LED becomes very dim, it's time to change your battery. Remove the four screws on the bottom of the effect pedal and carefully remove and replace the old battery, putting it back exactly in the center of the pedal on edge so that it is gripped tightly by the lid when it is screwed back in place.Relax/Push knobFuzz knobPulse width controlTone controlOutput volume controlSubs switch: "2-1-3" Lets you set how much sub content is in your fuzz. It's pretty dramatic3 is huge, 2 is medium, and 1 is absolutely none left.

The ZVex Distortron guitar pedal is the gifted little siste
... Read more
The ZVex Distortron guitar pedal is the gifted little sister of ZVex's "Box of Rock" stompbox. ZVex designed the Distortron distortion effect to simulate the "everything on 10" sound of a classic Marshall JTM45 non-master-volume amplifier. With the Distortron pedal your guitar's volume control adjusts for the exact amount of distortion neededall the way down to the clean and clear sounds you can get with most drive settings when the gain switch is set to low. The Distortron effect pedal's controls function as follows:Drive: sets distortion amountbegin at around the 1 o'clock position. Based on the original "Super Hard-On" gain control, it may crackle when turned, which is normal.Tone: Adjusts for treble contentbegin at around the 2 o'clock positionVolume: Adjusts output volume levelbegin at around the 9 o'clock positionGain switch: "Lo/Hi" switch lets you choose the standard "Box of Rock" gain level or a slightly boosted levelSubs switch: "2-1-3" switch lets you choose the standard "Box of Rock" sub amount (on option 3) or two different lower levels of subs, depending on your amp's needsRecommendations for operation:Plug your guitar (or any effect's output) into the Distortron's right-hand input jack. Plug the output into an amp or other effect's input. Rock out. Set the sub's switch so there's just enough low-end for your amp. Try turning up the gain all the way but leave the gain switch on Lo. This is the maximum gain where you can still turn down your guitar and get a completely clean tone if you need it. With the gain switch on Hi, you can get more sustain with feedback at a moderate amp volume. Try using your rhythm pickup with the tone control turned all the way down for a vintage, bluesy lead sound.Recommendations for pedal placement:Try the ZVex Distortron last in your pedal chain, just before the amp. Set the amp for your favorite clean tone, set the Distortron pedal for your favorite distortion tone, and if you're using a booster pedal as well, try it both before and after the Distortron to experience different results: before the Distortron will give you more sustain, while after it will give you more amp volume (or drive, if you use a distorted amp sound).Don't leave your other distortion pedals in the closetmany distortion pedals sound amazing with the ZVex Vextron Series Distortron, so you may discover a whole new appreciation for your old distortion pedal collection.Works well in combination with other distortion pedalsDC power jack on side of unit uses standard Boss configuration (with center negative)LED light indicates when unit is operational and when battery is low1-year manufacturer warranty from purchase date

The Vexter Fuzz Probe is a cross between a theremin and a ZVEX Fuzz Factory. There is an antenna (proximity plate) that projects a field of RF energy that is affected by your foot, altering the circuit that generates it and in so doing, controls the Stability (STAB) knob on the back of the pedal. This lets you select your favorite squealy Fuzz Factory setting. You can also mess around with the STAB knob with your foot creating melodies and interference modulations with your guitar.Made in the U.S.A.Volume, Gate, Comp, Drive and Stab controls3-5/8" Antenna plate3-5/8" by 7" aluminum base1 Year ZVex factory warranty

The ZVex Vexter Series Super Hard On is an ultratransparent boost that goes from unity gain to an over 8-volt peak, while adding a delightful high-end clarity with its 5 million-ohm input impedance. The Vexter Super Hard On boost has a high-impedance input that refuses any current flow from your pickups, maintaining the magnetic field around each string and allowing your pickups to sound like the day they came off the winder. Its ultrahigh output then drives your amp into natural overload, solving the mystery of the disappearing guitar tone once and for all! The output level can exceed 8 volts peak, and when it finally distorts, the wave is shaped like triode overload, not fuzz. The Vexter Super Hard On is perfect for making the most of a classic amp and guitar, because it simply makes your guitar bigger and pushes the amp harder, causing natural overload. When cranked, it sounds much louder than a fuzz or distortion under stage conditions.WARNING: The very high input impedance of this pedal can cause strange reactions (sometimes mildly pleasant and/or arousing) when used with a vintage 'junk' (read 'cool') guitar. The solution is to simply lower the 'Crackle Okay' gain knob a little or leave the guitar volume wide open. Any problems will only occur at the highest gain settings with an unusual guitar.Ultratransparent boostHigh-impedance input refuses current from your pickupUltrahigh outputGoes from unity gain to in excess of 8V peak2-year warranty

Creator Zach Vex has a warning for those considering the Vexter Series Super Duper 2-in-1 Boost: "I WARNED YOU TO BE CAREFUL. When using this pedal, start off slow, and monitor your amp for potential damage." This is no jokewith two Super Hard On circuits in one enclosure, this pedal is dangerously loud!Channel 1Channel 1 is a conventional Super Hard On, with a gain control on the far right and a yellow LED to let you know when it's engaged. If you're familiar with the SHO, you know that it's a very sparkly sounding, high input-impedance preamp with incredible headroom, wide-ranging gain (unity to 60X!), and a maximum volume that will knock out your fillings. Channel one has no Master Volume control, but it's cascaded into Channel 2, which does.Channel 2 and Master VolumeThis channel has the very same circuit as Channel 1, but the bleeder resistor on the output has been replaced with a Master Volume control, allowing you to turn down the output volume even if the gain is cranked. When Channel 2 or both channels are on, the Master Volume is active. What's it sound like? You might wonder just how insane the Super Duper 2-in-1 sounds with both channels active and cranked up. Zach says, "I can't get my Les Paul to stop feeding back at any audible volume level on my Marshall . . . I'm happy about that." Of course, wide open isn't the only setting on the Super Duper 2-in-1. It gives you a total of four volume levels, ranging, at your choice, anywhere from perfectly clean to ragingly overdriven:Level 1: Your guitar is true-bypassed with both channels off.Level 2: Channel 1 engaged.Level 3: Channel 1 off, Channel 2 engaged.Level 4: Both channels engagedThere's no tone shaping in the Super Duper 2-in-1. Its two perfectly linear, high-gain, high input impedance preamps can be cascaded with a total gain that ranges from unity to 3600. That's right, the maximum gain with both channels wide open is a whopping 3600, which is so completely distorted, hissy, feedbacky, and insane that you'll never have a steady relationship again. Or a lease. Or a pet. Fortunately, with the Master Volume you can hear what that sounds like at a reasonable volume.2 Super Hard On circuits in oneChannel 1 cascades into Channel 2 for incredibly dangerous amounts of gainMaster Volume control lets you enjoy the madness at lower volumes

The Vexter Fuzz Factory from ZVex is a 5-knob fuzz pedal with 2 NOS '60s germanium transistors, and it comes in a hand-polished aluminum chassis with hand-silkscreened, 2-color text. Though the circuit isn't modeled after any one specific classic fuzz, it delivers tones straight out of the 1960s. These 5 knobs control the Fuzz Factory's parameters at various operating levels, letting you shape your own personalized fuzz effect.ZVex designed the Fuzz Factory to consume less energy than other effects pedals. When on, the Fuzz Factory's current is less than 3 mA. This fuzz pedal is hand-painted and assembled, and each is unique.Fuzz Factory ControlsVolume: Output levelGate: Squelches noise after end of sustain. Turn to the right to eliminate squeals, hiss, and buzz, stopping just as they disappear, or use to tune in exact feedback pitch. Turning to the left opens gate.Compress: Adds attack characteristic when turned to the left, which gets softer to right, and suddenly pinches tone when all the way right. Also tunes in fat, feedbacky fuzz. Lower the Stability and see what happens to this control.Drive: Increases distortion when used as a "normal" fuzz and adjusts feedback pitch and tonal thickness.Stability: Use to control feedback pitch. This is one of the more finicky controls, so it will take some experimentation to get it right.Made with 2 new old stock '60s germanium transistorsVolume, Gate, Compress, Drive, and Stability controlsHand-silkscreened, hand-polished aluminum chassis
