The World Music Drumming curriculum is a critically acclaimed 30-lesson instructional program designed for middle school general music classes. It can also be used for after-school or community drumming programs. It brings the enjoyment and excitement of music participation to students while building important life skills such as communication, listening, teamwork, discipline, and respect for others. World Music Drumming also fosters community awareness and an appreciation of cultural diversity through its focus on world music. Perfect for music therapists, teachers, facilitators of large drumming groups, or anyone who needs maximum flexibility and mobility from their instruments! Includes one each of the following sizes of drums: 18" x 18" (brown), 16" x 17" (yellow), 14" x 15" (green), 12" x 14" (blue), 10" x 13" (violet), and 8" x 10" (red). The detachable drumheads give you the option of playing each as an individual frame drum. The heads from each drum are at two different pitches, with one having a lower "calf-like" timbre and the other having a higher pitched "goat-like" timbre. This unique feature gives the drums great versatility- you can use any one of these configurations to create different sounds: a drum with both heads on; a drum with one or the other of its heads on; or each head played separately. These drums could be used to create the bass voice of a djembe ensemble, to maintain the basic rhythmic pulse of the ensemble so that other instruments can create the group?s more complex syncopated and polyrhythmic layers.
