The Extra Cumbus is approximately 34 inches long. It has NO FRETS. The body is solid wood stave construction. The wood body and neck are inlayed. It has 6 courses of 2 strings each. The Cumbus is a relatively young instrument. It was developed in Istanbul in the early 1900's. The inventor, Zeynel became known as Zeynel Abidin Bey. The famous Ataturk Mustafa Kemal, Turkey's first president, dubbed it Cumbus, pronounced joom-bush. Cumbus is Turkish for revelry, just the mood this instrument inspires. Our Cumbus are imported from the Family shop of Zeynel Abidin on Ataturk Bulvar in Istanbul. The Standard Cumbus is tuned like the Turkish Oud and one step higher than the Arabic Oud. Almost any Oud tuning can be used. SPECIAL NOTE: No Warranty on Strings: Manufacturers recommend that you change the strings on your instrument as soon as you receive it. Your instrument has completed a long journey before it ever begins the final leg to your home. During this time the elements affect the strings and may shorten their lifespan. It occasionally happens that a string will fail during that final leg of the journey. Therefore, it is recommended that you purchase a replacement set of strings and consider changing your strings soon after it arrives. If you are a student you may want to change your strings every 3-4 months. If you are a rock star you may need to change your strings every week. If you store your instrument, you should consider changing the strings when you pick it up again.

Classified as chordophones, Tamburas are in the lute family. Tambura is the southern Indian pronunciation while Tanpura is the name commonly used in northern India. Tamburas are the classical drone lute of Indian music. While they look somewhat like a single toomba sitar, they differ in significant ways. Compared to the sitar, tamburas have fewer strings, no sympathetic strings, no frets, and a moveable bridge used to adjust the pitch. These instruments look as exotic as they sound. Each comes with a hard-sided case. "Scratch & Dent" or "Blemished" products are denoted by a "-2" after the product code. They are New and Unused but are considered Second Quality. Takamine's Natural series was conceived to give the biggest and widest acoustic sound possible. The Natural ETN60C FXC nylon fingerstyle is handcrafted in our pro series facility that has been building precision quality instruments over five decades. Solid cedar tops, solid sapele backs, a thin satin finish and no pick guard _ anything that could possibly impede the vibration of the soundboard was purposely left out. This guitar was designed with the nylon fingerstyle players in mind and is voiced to respond well to altered tunings. The 1 7/8" nut width broadens the string spacing at the nut and at the bridge. The slotted headstock gives the guitar a classic look and increases the break angle of the strings over the nut. In keeping with the "natural" theme, various woods are used to trim and decorate each model. The rosette is an intricate design using ovangkol and rosewood. The purfling is basswood and fret board inlays are maple. A pinless bridge makes string changing a breeze. Includes Takamine's Palathetic» pickup, known in the industry as one of the most accurate and natural sounding acoustic/electric pickups. The CT4B preamp has long been the popular choice among Takamine pro artists, providing warm natural acoustic tone at high sound pressure levels.
