The Claude Gordon silver mouthpieces all have the same rim size and contour. This gives the most consistent feel possible when changing between trumpet, cornet, and flugelhorn. The outside design is based on Claudes own design. This outside design has been maintained to aid in the identity of the Claude Gordon Series.Claude Gordon 3Designed for the bugle and used by trumpet players as well, the CG3, now called the Claude Gordon 3 is based on an earlier Claude Gordon design, with the exception of the outside shape which was standard at the time. This mouthpiece has a bowl shaped C style cup and is shallower, (see specs.) than the Claude Gordon P model. With the permission of Patty Gordon and for identification purposes, we agreed to keep the outside shape the same as the Claude Gordon Personal mouthpiece and will do so on all other Claude Gordon designed mouthpieces within the Claude Gordon Mouthpiece Series.Claude Gordon Personal - Mouthpiece IdentificationFor identification Purpose the CG Personal mouthpiece is now marked with his name spelled out and with the letter P for Personal. This mouthpiece is a V cup design with your choice of a #20 or #22 drill. Faithful reissues of the classic Parduba double cup trumpet mouthpieces. The double cup design enables a great ease of playing in the high register. Inner diameters runs from 3(smallest) to 8 (largest). The Original Parduba Mouthpieces (Double-Cup)Gives you two mouthpieces in one. The scientific reaming of the top cup furnishes the shallow cup which is necessary to secure the extreme high tones and they come with the greatest of ease, G a bad tone for many performers, comes true. High Bb comes as effortless and with as great volume as G is ordinarily produced. The extreme high tones, which occur occasionally in ordinary music and frequently in solo playing or in difficult passages, are produced more easily and with full volume because the shallow upper cup puts them within reach by increasing the performers range. This is accomplished with the Parduba Double-Cup Mouthpiece without sacrificing tone quality or volume in the middle and lower registers because the lower part of the cup is of the regular conventional bore.

The Curry precision mouthpieces have super high tolerances
... Read more
The Curry precision mouthpieces have super high tolerances and they produce the most consistent mouthpieces in the industry. The rim and bite are identical for all cups in a given diameter. This allows for effortless switching. Classic mouthpieces are high-tech reproductions of 30 plus year old originals.Learn About Trumpet Mouthpiece Deign and Construction - HEREThe rim contours of each diameter are unique. Although each rim is consistent within it's size range (ex., Curry 1C rim contour is the same as Curry 1Z rim contour), it is much different than the 1 1/4 rim. For example, if the Curry 1 1/2 C rim is the most comfortable rim you've ever felt, but seems a little "tight", it is wrong to assume that moving to the 1 1/4 size would solve that problem. The correct solution would be to get a custom mouthpiece using the 1 1/2C rim contours. The "tightness" issue could be solved in a couple of ways. The rim profile could simply be moved a few thousandths to the outside, or perhaps the bite radius could be increased which would also give a few thousandths more room. There are others ways to get the "feel" you're looking for, but you shouldn't be concerned with that. I'm the mouthpiece makerInner diameter "numbers" mean very little. Most manufacturers reference charts are expressed in both inches and millimeter sizes. One "major" manufacturer's published "numbers" are totally wrong! In fact, the millimeter conversions in their manual do not match the decimal numbers! And, they've reprinted the same mistakes year after year! The point I'm making here is that every manufacturer has different criteria for measuring the inner diameter. My personal criteria for measuring the inner diameter varies from rim to rim. In my 30 plus years of trumpet playing, I've learned that the feel of a mouthpiece can vary from rim to rim. The spot on your face where you "feel" a 1C rim is much different than the "contact point of the 1 1/2C rim. Although they only vary in "size" by a few thousandths of an inch, the difference in feel can seem like a country mile. Don't get hung up on the numbers too much. If they do matter to you, buy some dial calipers. A good enough pair (Chinese-made are just fine) of calipers will run about $60 in an industrial supply store. By the way, of my several thousand customers, I know of only 3 that own a set of calipers. Each Cup is unique! There is no standard "C cup shape" based on my experience. The shape of the Curry 1C cup is quite a bit more "bucket" shaped than my 1 1/4C cup, which is definitely more of a "bowl" shape. The different cup depths (XS through B cups) within each size were calculated from the original C cup, the exceptions being the "Chicago" models, the Deep Cornets, the Vintage Cornets, and the Flugelhorn cups. The "undercut" of each mouthpiece is unique! the undercut, or backbite, or whatever you want to call it, is the first slope or radius into the cup from the bite (GR Technologies expresses this as the "alpha" angle.) This is the most misunderstood and least discussed area of the mouthpiece. It is the most important part of the mouthpiece in three respects:Clear Articulation. A mouthpiece with a "soft" undercut can hinder clean attacks and slurs. this is usually because players with moderate lip intrusion can feel the inside of the cup with their lips. This results in a "blurred release point" from which the embouchure has trouble vibrating freely. This can result in missed notes and a veiled sound. As the players lip's swell, this problem becomes even more pronounced.Embouchure support. Most players, to some degree, use the undercut to either close or open the aperture. This can vary from player to player, depending on their embouchure strength, teeth formation, and their approach to playing the instrument. The ideal undercut allows both clean articulation and will provide embouchure support when the players needs it.Total Cup Volume. The undercut angle, being at the "widest" inside diameter of the

The Asymmetric Trumpet MouthpieceMust Be Played To Be Belie
... Read more
The Asymmetric Trumpet MouthpieceMust Be Played To Be Believed! This is referred to as a "Range Enhancing Mouthpiece" by the manufacturer. The unique cup design provides more support for the lower lip allowing a greater freedom in the high register of the instrument. The Lead 342 ModelThe ultimate embodiment of the concept, having laser-like cutting power and a bright, full, brutal sound. Designed for demanding high register performance, with semi-flat upper rim, medium cup depth, 25 throat (.150") and dual, modified straight backbore for a good low register and a bigger altissimo sound. Effective in any playing situation, but most appropriately applied as a lead trumpet mouthpiece. The Opera 545 ModelFor Symphony players, Jazz players and others desiring a less aggressive, more legitimate sound with good projection, but somewhat less edge than either the 3C+544 or the Lead 342. The upper rim has a well defined inner edge for reliable upper lip suspension, good flexibility and clean attack. The rim surface is semi-curved with a slightly higher inboard surface, and slightly softened outside edge for comfort and endurance. The bottom rim inner edge has also been softened to improve low-register performance and flexibility. The #2 Schmitt style backbore, effectivly deeper cup (minimal cup/backbore separation) and 25 throat (.150") along with massive cup and shank weighting tend to provide excellent slotting and a somewhat darker, more Teutonic sound, ideal for symphonic, operatic or jazz performances. The 3C+544 ModelSimilar in design to the Opera 545 but effectivly slightly shallower due to more cup/backbore separation (longer cylinder) with much less weighting, a different backbore configuration and a slightly different rim geometry. These design features tend to produce a little brighter sound than the Opera 545, but without the edge and cutting power of the Lead 342. Slotting is also a little less for more overall, non-specialized performance requirements. They also incorporate the intonation and ease of playing frequently associated with a 3C. But this is a 3C "plus". The plus means easier high-register, more endurance and several additional semitones of high range. Like the other Asymmetrics, the throat is open (.150") for a bigger sound, but not to the point of adversely affecting endurance or intonation. And, the cup and backbore have been balanced. Definitely the mouthpiece of choice for players requiring a mouthpiece for more all around application, and light years ahead of the competition. The Lead 342M ModelThe Lead 342M is for the power player who likes to put more air through the mouthpiece. The Lead 342M is identical to the Lead 342 except it has a shorter (0.100-inch) cylindrical section below the throat and a very slightly larger backbore. This mouthpiece will go up to double C without breaking up and can deliver (depending on the player) slightly more power over the complete acoustic range, but it takes a little more air and is a little less resistant. If you need power with slightly less resistance, the Lead 342M is it.Band DirectorsStart your students on Asymmetric "3C+544"s to avoid the unnecessary handicaps of poor range and endurance. And, switch your more advanced players to Asymmetric "Lead 342"s and have a powerhouse trumpet section in a few months!!
