At the 2004 IBMA show, Bob Carlin and Wayne met to discuss the possibilities of a signature model 12" openback banjo. The features requested by Bob were a 12" pot assembly, scooped ebony fingerboard, specific neck profile dimensions and a nut width of 1-5/16”, a rolled brass tone ring, and a No Knot tailpiece. Bob personally made a trip to our Florida factory for the designing where Bob and Wayne discussed every possible specification and tested prototypes. Every detail was fine tuned. Decided features included a 12” Renaissance banjo head, the mock dowel stick/coordinator rod configuration, a custom headstock design with ebony overlay and recessed truss rod cover, the GT Master planetary tuners, and the “hot dog” armrest. In order to complete the project, Gold Tone would invest in all new 12" tooling to assure perfectly fitted parts. A year later we introduced.... the Gold Tone Bob Carlin Signature Model BC-350! Bob Carlin is most well known in the banjo world for his incredible tone. The Gold Tone BC Series featuring the 12” body provides Bob with more mid-range and bass response than the standard 11” designs. Whether you are new to openback banjo or want to add a new sound to your banjo arsenal, the BC-350 is an excellent choice!

The Bluegrass Special (BG-250) was one of the first instruments ever introduced to the Gold Tone line and it’s the remarkable features that we keep this great player around. Its convertible resonator feature allows for an easy conversion between a bluegrass (resonator) banjo and a genuine old time (openback) banjo by simply removing the 12” resonator and mounting brackets. Like many old time banjos, this model features an openback pot assembly design utilizing 24 shoe lugs instead of a one piece flange. This cuts down on the weight by about 3lbs while still being able to deliver a powerful and punchy tone. This convertible feature is great for players wanting to play in both popular styles. Other features include a bound rosewood fingerboard, a 12” bound mahogany resonator, the new GT Master planetary tuners, flat-top 20-hole bell brass tone ring, and a complete setup here at the Gold Tone Factory in Florida.

Mid-East 34" 12 String Extra Turkish Cumbus + Case. The Extra Cumbus is approximately 34" long. It has NO FRETS. The body is solid wood stave construction. The wood body and neck are inlayed. It has 6 courses of 2 strings each. The Cumbus is a relatively young instrument. It was developed in Istanbul in the early 1900's. The inventor, Zeynel became known as Zeynel Abidin Bey. The famous Ataturk Mustafa Kemal, Turkey's first president, dubbed it Cumbus, pronounced joom-bush. Cumbus is Turkish for revelry, just the mood this instrument inspires. Our Cumbus are imported from the Family shop of Zeynel Abidin on Ataturk Bulvar in Istanbul. The Standard Cumbus is tuned like the Turkish Oud and one step higher than the Arabic Oud. Almost any Oud tuning can be used.

FastLOK is the EKO proprietary neck to body locking technology that allows you to take full control of your guitar. A true breakthrough in acoustic guitars. It?s the easiest and most cost saving way to adjust the string height ("action") in a fast and continuous way. A FastLOK guitar can do so much more than a traditional guitar. Check. Rotate. Play! How does it work ? Rotating - either clockwise or counterclockwise the simple allen key supplied with the guitar - changes the angle between neck and body. No need to remove strings, no need for tools or luthiers, and all is done in a matter of seconds. Playability of the guitar changes instantly, and also the sound of course varies. The action can be set to any desired height to match skills, different string gauges or even different styles of playing and different kinds of music. Eko guitars "Our heritage is an inspiration for the future." From the magnificent selection of guitars that marked our past, we present a revival of models from our heyday in the fabulous 1960s, epitomised by the detailing that made them famous and appreciated by artists of the golden era. ... Read more
Acoustically, The Banjitar 2000 (BT-2000) is the best sounding 6-string banjo Gold Tone has ever made. The larger 12” body accentuates the bass frequencies which are normally weak on other 11” 6-string banjo models. The maple rim and 12” rolled brass tone ring provide maximum sound chamber reverberation. Dual coordinator rods attach the neck securely so tuning remains consistent and adjustments are done easily. Other features include and ebony fingerboard, Hot Dog armrest, Renaissance banjo head, ebony heel cap, and a vintage inlay design. This vintage design and slim neck make the BT-2000 a great alternative instrument for acoustic jams. Final assembly and complete setup performed at the Gold Tone Factory in Florida.
