Wild Things is the kind of lurid, trashy thriller that you'll either dive into with unabashed pleasure or turn away from in prudish disgust; it's entirely your choice, but we suggest the former option since it's obviously much more fun. The plot's so convoluted it's hardly worth describing, except to say that it's set in humid Florida and involves a respected high school teacher (Matt Dillon--yes, Matt Dillon as a teacher!) who is faced with accusations of rape by a student (Denise Richards, from Starship Troopers) who had been giving him the kind of attention most people would consider improper for such a "nice" young lady. Another student (Neve Campbell) raises a similar charge against the teacher, and that's when a police officer (Kevin Bacon) begins to investigate the allegations. Just when you think the movie's gone overboard with its shameless sex and absurdly twisted plot, in drops Bill Murray as an unscrupulous lawyer (of course) to spice things up with insurance scams and welcomed comic relief. As directed by John McNaughton (who has a way of making just the right moves with this kind of film noir melodrama), Wild Things is a bona fide guilty pleasure--the kind of movie you may be ashamed to enjoy, but what the heck, you'll enjoy it anyway. --Jeff Shannon

Meanwhile, an ambitious manager takes over the rival game reserve, and Sarah's domineering mother (new cast member Hayley Mills) arrives out of the blue. The Trevanions face each setback together, determined not to give up hope on their African dream. This breathtaking series aims at discovering why two very different regions of the planet, very far away from each other, are so rich in biodiversity; two unique places on Earth that serve as natural bridges between continents. Central America is a strip of land connecting two large land masses, a small region with an extraordinary natural richness. The Iberian Peninsula is the most bio-diverse region in Europe, acting as an umbilical cord between Africa and Europe. Both places are defined as "biological bridges." Through ground-breaking cinematography, discover the Earth's hidden secrets like never before, and see how all life is connected in miraculous and stunning ways! Program One: The Ocean's Border - When the Isthmus of Panama closed four million years ago, the two largest oceans of the planet were separated and massive geological events created a unique place that would grow some of the most fascinating life on Earth. Intense volcanic activity created what is now known as Central America, and it began to be colonized by amazing creatures that gradually colonized every new island. Discover five incredibly diverse regions within this ecosystem: the wetlands of the Caribbean, the Southern Caribbean, the North Pacific, the Corcovado Peninsula, and the central mountain range. Program Two: Looking South - Central America is home to some of the most breathtaking animals in the world. In vast and dramatic forests, several dynamic species of animal cohabitate-from the fierce jaguar to the clever monkey. Let these ambassadors of the wild show you the splendors of their homes! Program Three: Quetzals' Land - This is a long, mountainous passage where hundreds of thousands of species of plants and animals live. The umbilical cord that linked the continents also created one of the richest and most diverse places on earth-the Caribbean rainforests. These exotic destinations are the home to the magnificent and lonely Quetzal birds. Explore the Pacific coast of Central America and take flight with these rollicking spectacles of nature. Program Four: The Rarest Piece of the Puzzle - This program explores the formation of the Iberian Peninsula and its introduction of fascinating plants and animals to the ecosystems of Central America. With warm sheltering tropics in its southern regions and a mountainous north of wet and old Euro-Siberian forests, the Iberian Peninsula contains a variety and distinctive character all its own. Come along and marvel at the strange, beautiful riches it holds! Program Five: Iberian Europe - From the placid wood grouse, to large herbivores like the chamois and the Spanish ibex, to dynamic predators like bears and wolves, this program chronicles life in the animal worlds of this lush and varied region. Learn how two opposing worlds were joined in a single territory that remained isolated by the Pyrenees Mountains. The results are a collection of forgotten places, exciting animals, and unique splendors. Program Six: Mediterranean Iberia - The flow of species from Mediterranean Iberia and Africa creates a rich variety of fauna that leaves the land and landscape deeply transformed. During the summer, eagles, vultures, storks and Passeriformes fly from Africa to Europe. Some species make it to the peninsula without crossing the barrier of the Pyrenees, but other African travelers conquer the continent little by little: from the black-winged kite, to the genet, to the Egyptian mongoose, to the chameleon. This program takes a close look at this visiting population.

The Exclusive 3-Disc Bonus Edition contains a bonus disc with Bear's Top 25 Man Moments and an episode of Worst Case Scenario, "Elevator Plunge/Blackout." Adventurer Bear Grylls heads back into the wild for the 5th season of Man vs. Wild where he tackles extreme survival challenges in some of the most inhospitable places on earth. Bear goes from the extremes of Eastern Europe's frozen mountains to the searing humidity -- and crocodile filled landscape -- of Northern Australia's Arnhem Land. In the Torres Strait, south of Papua New Guinea, Bear is marooned on a desert island. He must find food and water, before setting to sea. The setting may seem idyllic, but these waters are patrolled by deadly jellyfish, stingrays and sharks. And Bear comes way too close for comfort with these ultimate predators. In special edition 'Fan Vs Wild', Bear leads two lucky fans on a 48-hour survival mission in the frozen Purcell mountains of Canada to test their nerves, their reflexes, and their stomachs. Bear heads into the Canadian Rockies and then the Mojave Desert to face the elements at their worst and test what they really do to the body. In Canada, Bear is buried alive in an avalanche to test how long can he survive, swims 30 feet under an ice pack, and weathers a blizzard in a snow cave. But even the best laid plans can go awry. Bear is airlifted to the hospital when a glissade test goes horribly wrong. Once he's healed, Bear heads to the other extreme: the Mojave Desert. There he finds out what it's like to be caught up in 48,000 gallons of flash flood and then engulfed in a 90 mph sandstorm. But it's not all a chore for Bear. He makes a personal record: a HALO jump from 30,000 feet, so high he can see the curvature of the Earth!

Before Anne Heche came to prominence as the lover (and then ex-lover) of Ellen DeGeneres, she carved out a career as a sharp, intelligent actress, someone who could save a movie by appearing on the fringes, as in The Juror, for instance. Mixed in with supporting roles were a few indie leads--Wild Side is one of the latter, despite Heche's third billing. And a very strange item it is. Heche plays a banking go-getter who moonlights as a high-class call girl, with the movie hinting that the two professions may not be all that dissimilar. A liaison with a crooked financier (Christopher Walken in extremis) and later with his wife (Joan Chen) puts our heroine in a very confusing situation, especially when she gets in the way of a chauffeur/undercover cop/predator, played by Steven Bauer in high Eric Roberts mode. If the story is not always coherent, the actors nevertheless shoot off sparks, and the movie pulses with a weird energy all its own. Wild Side was the last picture directed by Donald Cammell, whose 1970 film Performance (co-directed by Nicolas Roeg) is one of the defining films of its era. This cut of Wild Side is credited to the pseudonymous "Franklin Brauner" because Cammell was unhappy with the radical re-edit performed without his consent. A director's cut had been prepared, but Cammell did not live to see it. He committed suicide in 1996, leaving behind a very small output of films in his foreshortened career. Wild Side, even in its cut form, carries his signature traits of authentic disorientation and intense, twisted sex. And while it's a guaranteed perk for prurient viewers, the torrid coupling of Heche and Chen is just one equation in the film's convoluted sexual arithmetic. --Robert Horton

A superb cast and an even-handed treatment of a true story buoy Into the Wild, Sean Penn's screen adaptation of Jon Krakauer's bestselling book. Emile Hirsch stars as Christopher McCandless, scion of a prosperous but troubled family who, after graduating from Atlanta's Emory University in the early 1990s, decides to chuck it all and become a self-styled "aesthetic voyager" in search of "ultimate freedom." He certainly doesn't do it halfway: after donating his substantial savings account to charity and literally torching the rest of his cash, McCandless changes his name (to "Alexander Supertramp"), abandons his family (William Hurt and Marcia Gay Harden as his bickering, clueless parents and Jena Malone as his baffled but loving sister, who relates much of the backstory in voice-over), and hits the road, bound for the Alaskan bush and determined not to be found. For the next two years he lives the life of a vagabond, working a few odd jobs, kayaking through the Grand Canyon into Mexico, landing on L.A.'s Skid Row, and turning his back on everyone who tried to befriends him (including Catherine Keener and Brian Dierker as two kindly, middle-aged hippies and Hal Holbrook in a deeply affecting performance as an old widower who tries to take "Alex" under his wing). Penn, who directed and wrote the screenplay, alternates these interludes with scenes depicting McCandless' Alaskan idyll--which soon turns out be not so idyllic after all. Settling into an abandoned school bus, he manages to sustain himself for a while, shooting small game (and one very large moose), reading, and recording his existential musings on paper. But when the harsh realities of life in the wilderness set in, our boy finds himself well out of his depth, not just ill-prepared for the rigors of day to day survival but realizing the importance of the very thing he wanted to escape--namely, human relationships. It'd be easy to either idealize McCandless as a genuinely free spirit, unencumbered by the societal strictures that tie the rest of us down, or else dismiss him as a hopelessly callow naïf, a fool whose disdain for practical realities ultimately doomed him. Into the Wild does neither, for the most part telling the tale with an admirable lack of cheap sentiment and leaving us to decide for ourselves. --Sam Graham

From the icy, arctic wastes of Alaska and Canada to the steamy, tropical swamps of Florida - North America is a vast and mysterious terrain. But 14,000 years ago - when the first humans set foot on the continent - the land was foreign to the way we see it today. Travel back in time to the end of the last ice age and see for yourself what this strange landscape looked like - and which creatures called it home. Using clues from the present and artifacts from the past, scientists reconstruct prehistoric North America and document its wildlife as experienced by the earliest human colonizers. The Wild West ~ Today, North America's southwest is a dusty, arid terrain. When the first humans arrived thousands of years ago, however, the land was green, rich and filled with an amazing assortment of creatures. Ancient, oversized mountain goats patrolled the rocky mountain slopes, while bizarre ground sloths browsed in the sheltered canyons below. As the grip of the Ice Age lessened, the continent began to clear, providing homes for even more animals - bison, pronghorns, prairie dogs and coyotes. But when humans first stepped onto the Great Plains, they encountered an abundance of wildlife rivaled only by the plains of East Africa. Watch as mammoths, horses, peccaries and even camels graze on prehistoric grasses, ever watchful of the land's most-feared predator - the North American lion!

Everyone in a small resort town thinks Rollo Smith is famed aviator Robert Story. That's fine with Rollo, who's actually a penniless newspaperman bounced from his job. Doe-eyed cuties want to be near him. Stalwart men celebrate him. And all Rollo has to do is compete in the upcoming aviation contest. But an airplane and Buckingham Palace are one and the same to Rollo: he's never been in either. Wide-mouthed Joe E. Brown plays Rollo in a chipper comedy whose set pieces include Rollo's self-devised aerial training (using a teetering Murphy bed, a vacuum cleaner, an electric fan - it's all in the seeing, not the telling.) William A. Seiter (Sons of the Desert) directs this wild tale of a fish out of water who takes to the skies. This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media.
