This wine is from France, Burgundy region, Cote De Beaune sub-region and Chassagne Montrachet appellation. Situated in the South of the Cote de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet is one of the five villages making up the prestigious Cote des Blancs (the slope of the whites). It also produces a red wine. The white wines come mainly from brown clay and limestone soils. The slopes face East and South-East. The Chardonnay is the only grape variety used for the whites. Chardonnay was the favourite grape of Charlemagne. He granted land and Roman cellars in Burgundy to the monks with the stipulation that they expand plantings of this marvellous vine. During the Renaissance, the Dukes of Burgundy claimed these vineyards and cellars for themselves, the best of which are to-day part of the vast Drouhin family estate. This superb white wine comes from the estate of the Marquis de Laguiche, the largest owner of Le Montrachet. Since 1947, Maison Joseph Drouhin has the entire charge of the estate, from the cultivation of the vineyards to the vinification of these two famous wines and their distribution around the world. The grapes are picked by hand in small crates, then carefully brought to Joseph Drouhin winery in Beaune. After a slow and gentle pressing, the juice ferments in 228 litre oak barrels. The percentage of new oak varies with the vintage, never exceeding 40%, so that oak never dominates the fruit. The wine stays in barrels for 9 to 10 months. . Chassagne-Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche has a lovely gold green colour. The nose is elegant, with pear, vanilla and apple as the dominant flavours. The wine is well balanced and round with a nice fruity finish. Very long and complex, this is a superb example of a great Chardonnay from Burgundy. CHARDONNAY Wine French Still Wine

This wine is from France, Burgundy region, Cote De Beaune sub-region and Chassagne Montrachet appellation. This world-famous estate belongs to one of the oldest and most aristocratic French families : the Marquis de Laguiche. Out of the 14 different owners, the Marquis de Laguiche family is proprietaire of the largest portion of Le Montrachet, entirely located in Puligny (according to many authorities, the better side). It has been in their hands since 1363. It is ironical that the hillside of Montrachet, producing Burgundy's most prestigious white wine (and in some say the world's most complex), should look so unprepossessing. The etymology of the place-name is actually instructive : the word rachet refers to a poor type of soil where only scrawny bushes can grow. It is therefore on this poor, hard, infertile soil, which geologists call Bathonian limestone, that the Chardonnay grape develops this unique terroir character. . Nose rather excessive of flowers, of hot croissant andpreserved lemon, evolving to the ageing towards nuances of roasted hazelnuts and of spice. The long finish leaves the palate with flavors of bread of spices. . The wine in bottles blossoms with 4 to 6 years of age. It can be served with shellfish, fishes in sauce, fatty livers, white meats. A great aperitif. CHARDONNAY Wine French Still Wine

In 1567, France is mired in a civil war between Catholics and Huguenots (early Protestants), and the Marquis de Ms (Philippe Magnan) is eager to form an alliance with the Duc de Montpensier (Michel Vuillermoz). With this in mind, the marquis strikes a deal in which his beautiful daughter Marie (Mnie Thierry) will wed Philippe (Grire Leprince-Ringuet), Montpensier's son. Marie is not especially happy with this notion, as she's fallen in love with Henri de Guise (Gaspard Ulliel), her handsome cousin, but she dutifully agrees to the match, and soon Marie and Philippe are sharing an estate in the countryside. However, Philippe is soon called up to fight in the civil war, and he asks his friend and tutor the Comte de Chabannes (Lambert Wilson) to look after Marie while he's gone. Marie is bright but not educated, and Chabannes is asked to educate her in intellectual and social matters; as he gets to know Marie, he falls deeply in love with her, but she's already divided in her loyalties between her husband and the man she truly loves. Adapted from the classic novel by Madame de La Fayette, LA PRINCESSE DE MONTPENSIER (aka THE PRINCESS OF MONTPENSIER) was an official selection at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.

Woods brings together a unique and perceptive collection of documents that not only offer a rare glimpse into the complex mind of Benjamin Franklin the diplomat, but also provide new insights into the French-American alliance against the British. This selection of letters is an important contribution to the body of literature exploring French support to the American Revolution, and perhaps more importantly, provides an additional glimpse into the character and thought processes of Franklin, the diplomat. All other achievements aside, in his eight years in France Benjamin Franklin emerges as an extraordinary individual, distinguished as much as a philosopher as a statesman. Whether he is writing to peers such as John Adams and John Jay, to French officials such as the Marquis de la Fayette and Count de Vergennes, or even to long-time British friends such as David Hartley, Member of Parliament from Hull, and William Petty, the second Earl of Shelburne, Franklin always reveals much, if not quite all, of himself. And whether the subject might be prisoners of war and privateers, or rules of engagement and reconciliation with England, he writes with remarkable clarity, insight and, on occasion, humor: the portrait of a thoughtful man following a challenging course through uncertain times. The source material for this compilation is the 1817 text, The Private Correspondence of Benjamin Franklin. Where necessary, the editor has provided explanatory notes to assist the reader in placing the correspondence in its particular historical, political, or conceptual context. While there are a number of general texts that, to greater or lesser degrees, deal with this period of Franklin s life Brands (2000), Srodes (2002), and Morgan (2002), among others and these in addition to Schiff s 2005 release: A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America which deals specifically with the timeframe none offer any comprehensive inclusion of source material. To address this void in the literature, Woods embraces the subject, as the subtitle suggests, from a strictly documentary perspective. Thus, this text is both an original reference resource and a supplement to the existing literature. It presents, in its entirety, the original written correspondence which previous authors, in many cases, cite as the basis for their interpretation of events or conclusions of fact.

A Tale of Two Cities: The two cities are Paris during the time of the French Revolution and London. Dr. Manette, a French physician, unfairly confined for eighteen years in the Bastille by the Marquis de St. Evremonde. The doctor has just been released, demented, when the story opens.Charles Darnay, concealing under that false name his identity as the nephew of the cruel Marquis, has left France and renounced his heritage. He falls in love with Lucie, Dr. Manette's daughter, and they are happily married. During the Terror, he returns to Paris, is arrested, condemned to death, and saved at the last moment by Sydney Carton, a reckless wastrel who acts out of devotion to Lucie. Carton takes his place on the scaffold, declaring It's a far, far better thing I do than I have ever done before, surely one of the most quoted lines in all the history of literature. Narrated by Buck Schirner.Great Expectations: Great Expectations chronicles the progress of Pip from childhood through adulthood. As he moves from the marshes of Kent to London society, he encounters a variety of extraordinary characters: from Magwitch, the escaped convict, to Miss Havisham and her ward, the arrogant and beautiful Estella. In this fascinating tale, Dickens shows the dangers of being drive by a desire for wealth and social status.
